Suggestions / Re: Add soviet national anthem music?
« on: September 07, 2013, 05:03:43 PM »
I love Soviet National Anthem for various reason and I don't have typical American cold-war-styled viewpoint against Soviet, but I disagree.

1) Soviet National Anthem declared April 1944, in late phase of war.

2) 1944 version - It has ideological problem, cause it has too much "Stalin" in it. They made it when Stalin's power was at its height.
And I feel uncomfortable listening Stalin-worshiping anthem. Even now historical revisionists are causing trouble in Russia.

3) 1970s version - simply, it has not been used back then.

How about famous military marching songs like "Katyusha" or "The Red Army is the strongest"?
have been used by Soviet Army, and have no ideological problem.

Bugs & Tech Support / Re: Soviet AI Issue.
« on: August 12, 2013, 02:05:52 PM »
I tried various situations and maps.

 - No choices on vehicles. T-90, SU-76 spamming. Producing almost nothing but these. (saw couple of SU-85, or KV-2)

 - Limited Infantry strategy. AI doing nothing but Conscripts(w/weapon reserve)/Strelky/Ingenery Spam.
I tried blocking them out with MG42 team, but they just tried to break through(just like <Enemy at the gate>).
Soviet have a lot of solutions for them(heavy mortar team, sniper, etc...) but AI doing none of them but Infantry spam.

Red Army Suggestions / Re: The Kind Commissar
« on: August 12, 2013, 04:11:32 AM »
Order 227 issued Soviet Commissars to create penal battalions. Either from arrested soldiers or from regular troops to get the necessary amounts of penal units. "Not a Step back!" is based on Order 227 and thus enables you to degrade conscripts into penal battalions. Gameplay wise it enables you to use conscripts as your mainline infantry way longer into the game compared to regular conscripts, also Soviets have so many infantry units already and giving them more doesn't help them.

So basically it is not upgrade, but "Degrade", right?
Hmm...that's possible, but still, I feel unnatural. What about having both "innocent" Conscripts squad and penal troops can be called in?

And...back to the subject, I think current Commissar seems OK. Personally hates western propaganda of Soviet officers murdering its soldiers, so I don't like commissar shooting his own men just to break suppression.
and its skills make propaganda strategy unique, which is focused on upgrading Conscripts.

CoH's core game mechanic is about unit preservation, so what's the point of having a manpower sink that does not get vet and only feeds the enemy exp points?

hmm, definitely you have a point on that. I agree....grinding manpower only to break through is not better choice.
But what about penal troops "upgrade"? I think it's bit weird. Still I believe penal troops should be separated from Conscripts.

I think they should be call-in unit, being treated in much more 'Soviet' way. If Conscripts are just poor recruits drafted from their home in national emergency, Penal troops should give player clear impression that they are being punished by forced suicidal mission.

Anyway, that's pretty much all I suggest.

Well, I'm the one hate US Cold War Stereotypes, like the one we can see on CoH 2 campaigns(lot of people even calling CoH 2 developers "Nazi")...
but honestly, changes on Penal Troops are quiet unnatural.
I think propaganda strategy upgrade should add Commissar squad leader onto Conscripts, not calling in a separated officer unit.

And I think if you don't mean disrespect against Soviet Sacrifice, Penal troops and Conscripts are to be separated.
Those who commited crime against motherland(of course, they are both innocent and guilty...)and new recruits is basically same unit? it's kind of weird, maybe disrespectful.

I think Commissar should be Squad leader add-on, and Penal Troops are separated cannon fodder unit which can be called in.

And this is what I think Penal Troops should be.

 - It should be CP-using skill, which is calling Penal Troops into the field.
 - EXTREMELY Cheap and short cooldown. Can be easily called in.
 - Good for close-combat, or as cannon fodder.
 - Have Charge ability, or something similar. Can break Suppression with it.
 - Cannot be reinforced at all, or very hard(time, manpower usage...) to be reinforced. (So player can actually use them as Cannon fodder)

Bugs & Tech Support / Soviet AI Issue.
« on: August 10, 2013, 10:27:43 AM »
While I playing against Soviets, I found out some problems of their strategy.

 - AI Soviet is not training so many infantries. only couple of ingenery squad, and command squad, which is quiet opposite of what I expected.

 - almost ALWAYS Spamming Armored vehicle, especially SU-76 and T-90.
In mid-game, they produce NOTHING but these, even though they saw I'm only spamming AT guns for them.

I'm not sure about priorities of their production, but it's kind of ridiculous. Expert AI just spamming couple of vehicles on and on, so I can easily wash them out with my AT guns and win.
In other hand, I can use no strategy but AT gun spam to survive, which is not funny at all.

I know it's problem for vanilla AI also(Expert AI Panzer Elite spamming Hetzers, Expert Wehrmacht spamming StuHs...)
so not sure you can fix it. I'm just reporting what I found.

And, I didn't check on the Ostheer AI yet...I'll try.

P.S. If there's any way to re-tweak those AI patterns by myself, it will be great.

Bugs & Tech Support / Re: Gunfire sound issue, etc...
« on: July 01, 2013, 07:30:52 PM »
high audio setting? not even a little. My audio setting is just normal, and I can hear Wehrmacht soldiers firing just as good.
No nerve-scratching rifle barrage for Wehrmacht. only Soviet soldiers have problem.

Volume of the EF MOD is too high, I guarantee it.

Bugs & Tech Support / Gunfire sound issue, etc...
« on: July 01, 2013, 01:15:54 PM »
I just installed this MOD, and it's just awesome. (sadly, I think this is better than CoH2!!)

but have few issues that need to be fixed...

1.Ridiculously loud Gunfire sound effect. (ESPECIALLY Mosin-nagant rifle)

Even my ear hurts after one good match. Gunfire sound is way too loud and sharp.
I am former soldier, so I know WELL that guns are noisy. but this is just too much.
Whenever Soviet unit fires, from Guards to Conscript squad, I hear sharp, ear-tearing barrage of Mosin-nagant rifle, louder than Wehrmacht sniper shot...

Not only Mosin-nagant, but overall gunfire sound volume is too high.

Is this high volume for some intended purpose? Or just bug?
I want to lower the volume personally before I get proper patch, using some tool or something, if I can...

2.Well, I see Panzer Elite Victory art when I won, playing Soviet. (from famous propaganda movie poster that SA soldier holding Nazi flag)
This is first time playing Eastern Front, so I have no idea this is just minor bug or they have no Soviet victory art in first place.

Does Eastern Front have Soviet Victory art? or is this just minor bug, waiting to be fixed? or am I the only one having this bug?
