We figured out the TEMP Folder Full Error.

Please include the following files:

*Documents/My Games/Company of Heroes/warnings.log
*Documents/My Games/Company of Heroes/LogFiles/scarlog.[Date-and-Time].txt
*Temp/RandomLettersAndNumbers.dmp (see below)

How to get the DUMP file
  • Hold Windows Key and click R
  • Enter "%Temp%" (without " " and with % %)
  • Find the .dmp file that was created at the time of the crash

Additional Information
Please provide the following information as well.

*What map were you playing?
*Which factions were involved?
*What were you doing when the crash occurred? Try to be as accurate as possible!
*Do the crashes happen during every or almost every game?


Doing this helps us figure out the cause of the crashes easier, and fix them. Posts without any relevant information will be deleted.

Hi there,

game freezes after conscripsts built infantry tent on map Stalingrad Station. Had to restart my PC. It was a 2vs2 game against Wehr and PE AI. Me playing russians and my AI comrade, too. Next 2vs2 game with same army constellation on Mahilyou which got the same size as Stalingrad works fine. No problems to play this map. Also a 1vs1 on Angoville works without any crashes.

Anyone finding that there's no more speech? ie. When clicking an assigning actions for all armies, no more comments from the field?

Anyone have the issue that map can not be loading?

I have steam account and the map never be loading during skirmish.

after several mins, the pic turned back to the main menue ( is that call crush)

appericated any kinds of help.

You should provide more information in order to help you, which map were you trying to play, what are your pc specs and in what settings level you have CoH/EF.

And try to not ask help for your problem in more than one topic, it won't increase amount of help received.

I'm sorry,my English is very poor.
When using the EF, can not load the archive.Or stop to load ,or play back to the desktop

Hello everyone,

sorry if my english looks a little bit strange, but i am german and not trained to write in english.

I have the same problems, that some others have, since 1.500, and than later after patching to 1.501 i cant start a match.

I played with the eastern front mod since version 1.4 and everything seems to work fine. But since the update to 1.5 i cant start any game. If i start the EF launcher, the game seems to start normal, but if i choose a mission (in this case a part of Marketgarden) the game starts to load, but nothimg happens. After a few minutes i kill the game via the taskmanager.The same happens if i choose a new game.

I installed and deinstalled the 1.501 Version 3 times but nothing changes. Always the same black screen and no reaction from the game.
I read all your tips, to try to correct this, but nothing seems to work. I get always a black screen and nothing works.

Now i deinstalled 1.501 version and installed 1.4 again and it works fine without any Problems. coh is ver. 2.602.0 and as OS runs Windows 7 Prof.

Any ideas, what the problem is?

You could try to unininstall EF completely and make sure that there's no file of your installation left, maybe you have to delete some files manually. After you did that, reinstall EF and look if it works.

Can you tell me, for wich Folders or Files i must search, after a normal deinstallation? I didn´t made a scrennshot of my coh install direction, befor i installed EF...

You need to delete Eastern_Front folder, FactionFix.dll, LuaExtCore.dll, Eastern_Front.module and files/folders with name starting with "EF".

EF doesn't modify vanilla files so, you can play the campaigns whenever you want. I just tested and for me works.

Also, do you have any other mod installed?

Thanks for the list.

Tomorrow i will deinstall EF 1.4 and erase all files and folders you named. After that i try 1.501 and we will see what happens.

By the way, what do yu call "vanilla files"?

And yes i started with the "blitzkrieg mod" but it doesn´t work for me because i play mostly alone and "bk mod" targets multiplayers ;-)

Do you think that the "bk mod" could causes my problems?

In 1.4 i havent any problems though...

Please be assure that my PC spec is more than enough to handle the graphic so I'm sure the problem is not in my PC spec. Yesterday when it crashes, It asked me to sent an error report. I already submit the report.

I think you guys done a really great job and I really loved it. I'll be great if someone could tell me what should I do to make the game work and not crashing anymore...

You should at least post your warnings.log file and your dmp file right after the crash. Otherwise we cannot look at the issue.

Alright... I attached my warning log and the dump file... Please share in here if you already have any solution for the problem. I already lower my graphic setting but it didn't help...

Well here is a shorter Trouble me .. Engineers tried to build (USSR), barracks, and flew ... He tried to put the graphics on the lowest level does not help .. P.S Please forgive my poor English.

Dude, the log says you are using the 2.601 version, EF 1.510 is only compatible with 2.602.

First crash since the update. Playing as Russians with two Russian AI allies against 2 Wehrmacht and 1 PE AI enemies. Map was custom map Blazing Lowlands. Game seemed to be running fine and randomly crashed.

Computer setup changed a bit:

Windows 7 Pro x64
AMD Phenom II X4 925 @ 2.8GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
2x Sapphire HD 6950 2GB video cards in Crossfire

Try to lower your graphic settings from Ultra to High (if possible). Also, disable the scarring option in the graphic settings menu as well.

Can you upload the dmp file as specified in the first post of the topic?

Got the 1.501 mod and it automatically downloaded the patch upon the first start-up attempt.

I started a game on the Kiev(6) map, Soviets (me, position 6) versus Wehrmarcht (cpu, position 1), Normal difficulty, fixed positions, high resources, Annihilate (w/pop cap).

Purchased two engineers and began with capturing the closest ammo point.  But upon sending the second engineer unit to capture the closest strategic point, the game crashed to the Relic error reporter.

Any clues...?

You could try to unininstall EF completely and make sure that there's no file of your installation left, maybe you have to delete some files manually. After you did that, reinstall EF and look if it works.
hey, i had this problem a while ago and i completely uninstalled eastern front an then re installed it but it still didn't work. then i just played vcoh for a while until there was a thunderstorm where i live. my desktop was accidentally left on and apparently the popcaps popped on my motherboard and graphics card. a week, new motherboard, and new graphics card later, i had to reinstall coh and EF with all the patches. (and all my other programs too). now it all works great.  im not complaining, i just thought you guys might want to know how many people are having this problem. on the bright side, i got a new graphics card. :D

Planned to but couldn't find it (in the Temps folder, I know, but wasn't there).  What does this file typically look like?  What's it normally called?

Aside from that, I tried the game on a different map with different teams and the game crashed again upon building a engineer.  I think there might be more wrong than just the first example I cited.

I have different mods installed, but they run off their own executables.  Could this still be a problem; do I need a fresh install for this mod to work?  (*All other mods seem like they coexist).

Well, the log says that you have CoH v2.601. If you want to play EF you will need to update it to 2.602.

Hello, it's my first post here and I just want to thank you for the great mod before I start whining.  ;D

I just updated to the latest version and Fortress Mode keeps crashing for me as soon as actual combat begins. A German Wehrmacht AFV will show up and start exchanging fire with my (Soviet) infantry or 85mm guns and then the game will crash. I've done my best to upload the information you wanted. If I'm missing anything just tell me and I'll be able to replicate the crash.

Hey Guys, sorry for my abstinence, but i was very busy working...

I de/installed and installed the game again and again, but first nothing seems to work, but after i installed the little patch that came out a few days later, i could run the game  :)

Now some other messages sometimes pop out and the game crashes, sometimes too, but that happen only a few times. Mainly ist runs, thanks for the patch.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but have been following this post with interest. Downloading and installing the mod was easy and autopatching worked fine.
I've have been facing this "crash" or "back to main menu" issue myself when loading "Shitomir"-map, obviously a huge map.
Despite vanilla CoH running fine on highest settings, EF seems to be a bit more consuming, so I lowered any "ultra" graphic settings, and see: map loads. Stupid me.

Btw, you modders did a great job on this. Very much appreciated. Considering it's all for free - expcept that tiny amount of time, grey hair, blood and soul you've put in here - any nit-pickers, whiners and the gang should shut the fuck up or go to hell.

Several days ago, I could not use EF forum. Everytime I tried to connect, I got a Internal Server Error. Right now, I begin to use this forum again but I cannot make a new topic, reply etc. If I try to do those things above, I get another Internal Server Error. Is this because of my computer or my connection or because of the forum itself? If because of me, is there any solutions?

I've been experiencing a lot of crashes on Kursk as of late, I'm getting an error saying "BugSplatRC resouce DLL not found".

I've attached the warnings.log, scarlog.txt and what I believe to be the correct dump file.

The factions involved were Wehrmacht, Panzer Elite, Americans and Soviets. The crash seems to occur quite randomly, so I have no idea if there is a specific unit or something causing it. The crash has happened several times over the past few days, and I have not been able to finish Kursk.

My crashes came me here.

I don't know where is the problem, crashes are randomly, but mostly in 2v2 or 3v3 games.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (Service Pack 1), radeon 6850 1GB HD, RAM 4 GB, intel core 2 duo CPU E7400 2.80 GHz (i am going to buy better procesor).

Here is my .dmp file. I could post also warning file but i played CoH and there is not time what i had crash, i need another crash to post it.

problem solved! it was my fault that i've installed in a folder called "company of heroes ef" , removing the "ef" solved all.

like many of the recent posters ever since the last patch came out my game crashes alot. more specifically whenever i try and load a saved skirmish game. These are the crash report details as i see them on my relic crash report:

now install version EF 1.400 and test map 8p_rostov - normally working and uploading saved game on high-ultra graphics setting

Hi - been playing through the regular game missions from CoH to OF and ToV through the EF Mod.  Causeway, Mission2 game crashes when loading this mission. Loading bar is about 2/3rds full, at the point where it normally pauses, crashes to Relic bug report window. Does not crash in regular CoH.

Also, since updating latest patch (did not occur in previous EF versions) on Falais Pocket, Mission 3, the Command abilities tabs for the abilities given to you at the start of this mission no longer appear.  This means you cannot use these Command abilities, (including V1 rocket, off-map artillery and Henschel attack) which makes the mission impossible to complete. The new ones you earn playing this mission appear normally and can be used.
Had to continue this campaign in regular CoH where this bug does not occur.

Additionally, I cannot play more than one game of any type in EF without quitting out and reloading the game.  If I try to continue to the next mission in any campaign, or start a second Skirmish game after playing one, the game crashes when loading, no error report screen. This has been occurring I think since the update before this one.

Hi When i try and load a scenario and ive picked the Soviets it gets to about 2/3rds done and then crashes and not giving me a giving me an error report, ive tried it with the other factions only problem is when i try to play or have soviets ingame.

in my last attempt at loading a game i was on gilroys harbor had 6 inf squads (4 riflemen and 2 para), maybe a greyhound, several mortars, machine guns in a few buildings, no tanks and the wehr were in the process of repairing the large bridge that connects the bases. hope this helps.

based on my experiences it does not appear that any map is to blame since campaigns or skirmishes on any map result in the same outcome. On a side note is it possible to take the cherbourg map from the Normandy campaign and use it for online and skirmish without downloading a third party map pack?

The savegame crash should be fixed with the next patch. Unfortunately the savegames themselves are corrupted, so you won't be able to load them even with the next patch.

I got a strange bug over here. My game is freezing every time I finished a match in EF, forcing me to re-enter the game every time that I have finished the match and render me unable to collect rank. Sometime the game also crash during the match as well but this is pretty rare and I don't know what is the condition for in-game crash. This kind of crash only occur to the EF map or the Soviet faction is selected by any party. The vanilla map play with vanilla faction has no problem at all.

 Please advise.

You need to provide the dmp files as well, otherwise we won't know what happened.

We figured out the TEMP Folder Full Error.

How to get the DUMP file
  • Hold Windows Key and click R
  • Enter "%Temp%" (without " " and with % %)
  • Find the .dmp file that was created at the time of the crash

Additional Information
Please provide the following information as well.

*What map were you playing?
*Which factions were involved?
*What were you doing when the crash occurred? Try to be as accurate as possible!
*Do the crashes happen during every or almost every game?


Doing this helps us figure out the cause of the crashes easier, and fix them. Posts without any relevant information will be deleted.

I had to get a new computer yesterday. HP Pavilon  model P7-1003w

Loaded CoH/EF/ yada yada.

Created desktop s/c for EFv1.61

Game crashes at startup or soon there after. Both with EF launcher and EF short cut. CoH seems to work fine.

I tried this with and w/o "RelicCoH.exe -backup sugestion. Crashes either way.

Windows7-Premium, .NET Framework 3.5 seems to be installed.

The problem is that EF is looking for a file that no longer exists.

Meaning that some files were mixed up. Maybe the update wasn't installed properly, Are you sure you ran the process with Admin rights?

Since EF doesn't appear in the windows unistall or change program window I deleted all EF files and reinstalled. Crash and burn.
THe EF updates came from my laptop; wherein EF works fine (but is unplayable there. One bar prfomance a lowest settings).
I will start over from Scratch with CoH. MERDE!

Actually I think it is a CoH issue. I found I didn't have a copy of patch 2.602 on laptop.    :-[ Might never have upgraded my laptop to 2.602. Plays EF 1.61 though very very slowly. We will see. I am at McDonanlds D/L 2.602 patch 65min=156Mb/40KBS.

You need to upload the ailog.txt in order to check this issue:

I have the problems with game CoH, In i play this game in camp Campaign in mission on Sottevast on mission 7 i have "Scar Fatal Error,Exucution Paused"
and see this Log/Picture
I have had this experience also. At first I thought it was related to some testing I am doing with JoJo Rabbit in EF. But When I reloaded CoH and Patches it occurred in CoH play.

I tried a clean reload of CoH and EF and it went away, (I hope). Make sure to save all patches and EF ugrades in a folder that contains no reference to CoH or EF, (I recommend a memory Stick). You'll be SORRY if you don't.

*What map were you playing? Zhytomyr

*Which factions were involved? Me as Arty Brits(vanilla; not royal marine commandos), friend as USA Airborne, Expert AI as Propaganda Red Army, 2 Normal AI and 1 Easy AI as Wehrmacht(I'm not sure of their companies)

*What were you doing when the crash occurred? We finished a Skirmish game on Zhytomyr. Everything went as normal: AI with a seemingly unfair advantage dominating us early game, followed by a miraculous counter-attack by 4 Kangaroos and a horde of Naval Infantry, supported by Priests. It was a stunning victory. No problems. I went to the post-game stats, reveled in my glory, and clicked the option to leave the post-game stats and go back to the Skirmish menu. As soon as I did that, the game crashed to the desktop.

*Do the crashes happen during every or almost every game? I have only opened the mod twice since patching to the latest version, and the same crash happened in both instances, with the same thing: Finish a game with no problems, but clicking the button to leave the post-game stats crashes the game.

Hello, i'm new on this forum. About 2 months ago everything works good. After this i have break for playing games. Today i want play Eastern Front and first error is "Could not to connect to Eastern Front server. Turning off auto update. You can reenable this in settings later.

Every damn time I try to run on any map, single player or multiplayer, game crashes when it's half loaded. Sound starts looping and I get the "Unable to create error. No space in temp folder" or whatever. I already saw the solutions on this and none worked.

Once on Achelous River I was in multiplayer I was hosting and started the game, he loaded up and was ready and I was loading slowly but for once I got past the half loading time and up to 100% but then it crashed with same error. I want to play the game with him but I can't because of this.. is it the game that's poorly optimized because I can run Tales of Valor no problem high graphics and sounds.

I have uploaded 2 dxdiag readme's for you to see my specs.

Okay, I used the GameBooster and set graphics inbetween low and medium and it works. Now what I need to know is how to run it on ultra... do I need more RAM because I got 2 GB, and do I need a new processor to run a 64bit OS?

You don't need a new processor to run the 64 bits of any window version your current one is fine, but you might need at least 4GB of ram.

I'm not sure how it will run with 2GB, but I'm sure if you don't play MP it probably will run fine or if you play maybe 1v1 would be ideal.

Also, we'll work in the new soviet models soon, and once they are out I'm sure they won't tax so high any PC any longer... although Ostheer stuff comes as well so maybe the resource consumption ends being the same XD.

Yeah 1v1 single-player works with all settings on maximum just fine but the problem is when I load larger maps and multiplayer.

Just make sure you don't put the graphic settings on Ultra, otherwise you will have problems. Make sure you have them at high at most.

Yes 3.5.1 - tried to turn on the two HTTP componant services but windows cannot complete, tried uninstall but it seems to be pre release version 3, so does not appear in CP and microsoft uninstall tool does not compute - reinstalled EF and now desktop launcher only flashes, but COH/EF folder launcher at least tries but gives same 'Launcher stopped working'

Seems you must push Eastwards without me  :(

Just to bring you up to date - After EF launcher kept failing I dowloaded a few small progs and every other newly downloaded launcher also failed so I reinstalled windows and COH and updated all and now EF launches fine, however trying to update EF it now stops at 36mg or 66% everytime - other connections work fine - I have craptastic 3connect so dont know if your end is broke or mine

If you cannot update to the latest version using the auto-update feature, you can always download the full version:

Before installing, uninstall your old version and make sure there is no EF file inside your CoH directory.

Nope, the game crashes because it fails to allocate more memory for EF. We cannot do anything about it unless Relic release the source code of CoH :P.

If you want to avoid crashes you should try the tips I suggest in my reply #92 of this topic, otherwise there is nothing we can do atm.

Hello guys. Game had been crashes after sometime i played at maps 3*3, 4*4, not always, but sometimes. The low graphics solved this problem. The mod "Europa at war" need 6gb RAM, i have only 3,25gb (because Win 7 32bit, totally i have 4 gb). Will the more gigabytes of RAM solve this crashes?

No, Company of Heroes is designed to follow the architecture rules of the 32 bits software. Even if you have 32 GB of RAM it will still crash. Besides 32 bits OS only support 3.5 GB at most AFAIK.

The problem of mods is that they usually surpass the amount of memory CoH can handle due to extra content. When you run CoH in Windows version of 32 bits, the amount of memory used is very limited. When you use the 64 version, the OS limits are "lifted", however CoH still remains as a 32 bits software, which means it cannot use the full potential of any rig.

That could only be fixed by Relic(I don't know if Cope can do it but probably not I guess), but seeing they are throwing everything to CoH2 it is pretty safe to assume CoH will be buried(as if it wasn't all this time, support-wise talking).

Hi there, my EF is crashed and "not responding" massage is pop up when the game finished downloaded and before the play start, I have not completely tried it but as far as I am sure the map Sevastopol, and Minsk have problems for sure, in fact most of the EF map or even vanilla map play with Soviet faction have this kind of problem frequently (vanilla map played with original faction, using EF bonus unit seem to work fine though). I tried play it in off-line mode... ..doesn't help.

 I am not sure if this a place to discuss this particular issue, if I am in the wrong place, please direct me to correct one. If not then, please, help.

Hey, just want to let you know that my map download crash still persisted, I did as you asked anf the only massage I found is "unable to create error report, please verify that you have enough space on Temp folder"

 As far as I checked, my temp folder is emptied.

 Is there any thing you can do to help, now I really can't play any map at all in EF either vanilla or mod one.

 Please help

  Yeah, I saw this post before, haven't tried all of the suggestion yet though. I just want to confirm if this issue is directly related because as I told you, my temp folder is emptied.

It also happened not just with your EF but also the vanilla game (in the lesser degree as EF crashed during the loading or before the game is started while the vanilla crashed approximately after hour or two of game play).

If that make any sense to you I'll glad to hear any of your advise, otherwise, thanks for the assist.

Hi, just want you to know that I've finally managed to solve those full temp folder problem, turn out that the mod is just a little too demanding of resource, when I lower graphic by one level everything look just fine (with the help of game booster).

First of all, thank you guys for such a great mod! I've convinced 3 of my friends not only to start playing COH, but to get the EF mod and we all play together!!
I am having a very frustrating crash, always while playing as the soviets. I almost always do 1v1 (as the soviets) and i usually only use the 1v1 maps. I get about 3/4ths the way through a match, and out of nowhere by no indication the game crashes and I get the relic crash report which I've submitted mutliple times.
I started playing VP but after crashing multiple times within 50 points of victory, I played through a few annihilation games successfully, but getting crashes again.
Its crashed on the same map, same settings, as the ones that I've been able to play through on. As in, the maps and setting where the games didn't crash I tried to replay them later and it crashed that time so I don't feel the need to post specific maps and setting for each crash (although I can if you need me to)
I changed my graphic settings all the way to the lowest setting hoping to solve the issue and time and time again I play matches and get the crash.
Maybe 1 out of every 4 matches it doesn't crash and the game continues on just fine.
I have all the information you ask for saved into a folder on my desktop such as the dmp file and everything else associated with the crash as this time I focused on grabbing those files immediately after the crash so i don't get confused and they dont get lost.
I do not see an option to attach files though, how do I give them to you?
I love this mod and would really love to play full matches with my friends online or together on LAN.
Honestly if my issue could be resolved I have no problem donating. But I'm not bribing you guys lol

If you are using ultra settings on shaders(aka DX10), it will crash(nothing new) and we don't give support about it(as happens with any mod). Lower the settings to high at most.

Yes, I was running Ultra in that post.    In the previous post above I was running DX9 on high settings.

blackbishop, if you have some time - would you mind taking a look at my setup?

I have the same issue - for any map, I load it - and press the button to start the map. [EDIT] Just wanted to clarify - I press the start button and it freezes - the map doesn't even open up yet. Then it freezes and the music loops continually. I even set EVERY possible setting to low, but that doesn't help. I'm using CoH v 2.602, so that's not the issue. Running Win7 64 bit. Come to think of it, I don't think I've actually every played any CoH/mods on Win 7; I've only ever played it on Vista.

Attached are my system specs and the log/warning files. I was not able to locate any of the dump files. I went into that directory, and didn't even find any ".dmp" files. Could it be in a different location since my CoH files aren't in the default location?

Please let me know if you need more information.

Just checked it, everything seems fine, even your virtual memory seems to be enough. You won't find the dump file because your game didn't crash correctly, it just froze instead of sending you to the Desktop to see the BugSplatter app.

I would suggest for now to close RelicDownloader right after you run CoH: EF. You will find it on the system tray.

I also went to take a look at my CoH copy - and I tried loading a skirmish map, and the same issue as well. Maybe it's not just an EF issue? (I have ToV)

No steam; physical copy - Gold edition (I think), whichever has CoH + OF & ToV. I've had no issues playing EF when I was on Vista; then I migrated over to Win7. But then again, I only just got back into EF (or attempted to lol); last time I played EF on Vista was ... fall 2011 - so that was back in the earlier patches too - not sure if that makes a difference.

Nope, no issues w/ my PC.

Direct X 11 maybe? But then again, it shouldn't have issues if I don't have any ultra settings - and nonetheless being run on all low settings ...

[EDIT]I did some probing - tried to run a single player mission from EF - it crashed. Attaching files. Maybe this will help?

Are you sure you have installed everything?

Could you check if you have "LuaExtCore.dll" and "FactionFix.dll" in your Company of Heroes folder?

What version did you download for EF?

What do you mean by version? I don't specifically remember which version I left off with. All I remember was going from patch X and then jumping to patch 1.700 (Mod DB) - then the smaller patches via the EF launcher/updater.

In moddb we only have full installers, which means the install process should be like this:


As you installed EF in a custom path, did you check that it was being installed in the correct path? (installers and updates).

If you want to check if you have these components installed, you can look at your control panel and go for "Uninstall a Program" option.

If you don't have them listed, you need to download them and install them. If you do this, make sure you download the correct version of the software(x86 or x64).

Because DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 are not the same thing and having DirectX 11 doesn't mean you don't need to get DirectX 9.

If you don't have DirectX 9, all the games based on that routines won't run properly.

DirectX libraries = 9.0a/9.0b/9.0c + 10.0/10.1 + 11.0/11.1

All the libraries are packed in the same installer if you download it from Microsoft's site. DirectX 1 to 8 is deprecated from a long time ago, so no need to look for them.

Then you haven't installed it correctly, because that bug was already fixed and it fixed the issue for all the players who got the error.

Make sure you start a clean install for EF, then make sure you install the patches in the correct directory.

Your game crashes because you are using an incompatible version of EF in your CoH version. Make sure you install the right patches and if you use the new steam version, don't install the compatibility fix because as the description says it is not for it.
