I just posted this somewhere else but I think I will post it here to :). What weapon are the Russian Snipers gonna have? A Mosin Nagant or a PTRS 41? I think they should have a PTRS-41 as an upgrade because they were originaly desighned for anti tank purposes to shoot through the engine block.
-
There's already a Tank-Hunter-Team, though it's armed with the PTRD...
So I see no reason in adding a PTRS-41-upgrade to the sniperteam.
For the weapon: I propose it's a scoped mosin-nagant rifle, since that was pretty common amongst snipers.
-
I miss the visual snipershoot of the snipers :'(
-
Whats the harm about having a sniper squad that can actualy take on veichles? That always annoys me! My sniper cant even shoot the gunner of the back of a jeeep!
-
Balance, maybe?
I'm no beta-tester, but from what I've read out of e.g. the Guide, the Red Army is already a very strong faction.
They've beast-inf and bastard-tanks, imagine the snipers additionally being able to take out vehicles and even light Panzers.
How should the Germans counter this? Remember, most of the equipment of the PE is based on light Halftracks...
One sniper to rule them all? (http://www.worldofugly.de/ugly/282.gif)
-
the ptrs was a anti tank gun to see it in the hands of a sniper would mean that he could take out a halftrack and then take out the squad inside it ;D
-
i dont think at sniper would un balance bcouse they cant camo unless in cover but it just looks stupid xD
-
well about giving the sniper a mosin nagant it does not have to be scoped, many snipers had unscoped mosin nagants though i don't think they were asigned snipers, they just sniped anyway.
edit: though another way to represent the sniping without scope culd be to ad the sniper abillety brits have to the partisans meybe so for some munitions they will snipe a unit with a unscoped rifle.

I know for a fact that the germans have the G43 as there sniper rifle (or what brothers in arms calls the K43 ;D)
-
dont forget the kar98k scoped

dont forget the kar98k scoped
................................ ok listean they used the G43 in the game itself. Thats what I was saying and it would be great if they just kept it. I mean it dosent shoot then round in 4 seconds it just looks A LOT better than the k98 scoped
-
I'd love if the Soviet Sniper Ace had a 'sniping burst'
ability (aka the movie, where he shoots 5? officers one
after the other in a very short while). THAT would be
uber, a lot more appropriate, and in-character than a
grenade :)
: 3 in a row seems fine, I think :)
: And... ... I like the grenade too ;)
: He needs that cape!
Guards means ' regular troops which distinguished themselves, thus are considered elite ' which allows them
to get the best gear.
In this context, give him a SVT40? (Correct?) scoped?
Better than scoped PTRD or something, lol!
-
When you say "the movie" can you please name said movie? There is more than one movie about russian snipers you know
(I assume your talking about Enemy at the Gates)
-
Yes, I meant Enemy at the Gate. I would say of course...
But, apparently you disagree. Well, WW2 sniper movies, I
don't know of many. There is Saving Private Ryan, which
had a catholic kickass (Irish?) Sniper, but...
And yes, the reference I made was strictly Enemy at Gates,
which I assume they are using as basis for Sniper Ace.
-
I understand, but what im saying is that if I were to say "You should make the Katayusha like the movie". Not everyone know what im talking about, including me in that bad example :P
You get my point
-
Haha I'm fairly sure the sniper in Private Ryan is from Texas or the deep south somewhere, not Ireland (which didn't fight in WW2) ;D

Ireland is a touchy subject in WW2.
-
Ireland is a touchy subject in the whole 20th Century.
-
I'm Irish!!! Eh, no. I'm Scot/French//Canadian.
Got Mc to my name and not Mac, though. Does it count?
Got 2 Grandpas who took part of WW2, though.
... We got off topic, though. How about giving the Sniper
ace a 3x shot burst (with a long cooldown)?
Or a quick 2 shot burst more often?

ah hahaha!!!!!!! I lol'd :)

I guess there would be a problem if not even yourself
would understand your own point, then, yea... ;)

Hmmm... actually, I replied that to someone else in another
thread. I have no idea how it got here... :p Sorry about that.
As for irish. Well, I'm a McDougall, but was born in Scotland,
Aberdeen. I know Scots are Mac, and irish are Mc. Not part
of the IRA in any way, besides, my mum is french and I speak
it quite well ;)
