I got a beta key, but when I try to launch it on steam it says that I'm missing the executable. Is it supposed to launch that way or do I need to launch it a different way than the usual?
Also, I tried to join the EF Beta Test group, but it says that I need an invite.
-
I have some of my friends complaining about this too.
-
I recently have this problem too - I can't install the Beta, it only downloads 113mb - VC Redist files.
It started when I cancelled the VC Redist package installation... BUT since then I wiped Steam, even deleted its registry entries etc. and I didn't cancel the installation this time but it didn't help.

This was related to a bugged patch that we released 2 days ago. I rolled it back and now everything should work for you as normal once you've downloaded Eastern Front mod.
Edit: I just tried it. I deleted the EF_beta folder from my C:\pgram files\steam\steamapps\company of heroes relaunch folder and steam re downloaded the whole eastern front mod.
In case you experience errors I recommend to close down steam, delete the EF_beta folder and then download it from steam. It should work.

Is the download only supposed to be 110 MB? I remember it being 2 GB for as long as I've known.
Edit:
The mod still seems to be broken. People couldn't join my games before I uninstalled earlier today, citing incompatibility (wrong version etc.). I uninstalled, redownloaded and I can't launch EF anymore. The download is 110 MB; that doesn't seem normal. I went through all of the troubleshooting mechanisms i could, and I can't find a working solution. I've been here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8676-EFLX-7453&l=english&steamid=76561197972623031&errortype=EAppUpdateError&errorvalue=28 and I've done what you suggested DarcReaver. That doesn't work. It can't be on the user side.

I downloaded EF_Beta folder from a friend, put it in Company of Heroes Relaunch but it still says missing executable. When I try installing/reinstalling/uninstalling the folder doesn't even get deleted.

I heard from others they also have the same. Essentially it seems like if you completely want to download EF via steam it only downloads the additional vcr redist things etc which are applied while downloading ef. Just that ef isnt downloaded at all. Not sure why though.

He'res a workaround solution for your problem:
-1) Close down steam.
0) Then delete your Ef_beta folder in "c:/program files/steam/steamapps/company of heores relaunch". Then
download the link files and unpack them in "c:/program files/steam/steamapps/company of heores relaunch" :
(ask me for the links on steam or check our group)
After that you can play Eastern Front mod again. If you still experience the game not starting try this:
1) right click on company of heroes (new steam version) in your steam game library
2) click on properties
3) there's a button that says "starting options" - click it
4) put in the field following words : -dev -mod ef_beta
Then Eastern front mod will be launched when you start the new steam version.
Hope it helps. We'll work on a real solution within the next days.
Thanks to Tteok Leaf for uploading the files.
greetings

Can we just upload the beta here, without any issues Darc? Just making sure :).
-
You're right.. Okay, the links are available - just ask me on steam.

Are those the links for the EF Beta or the links to join the EF Beta steam group?
-
It finally works with -dev -mod ef_beta :)
-
Yeah it worked for several people already, let's just hope we get a fix for the issue soon.
-
The problem is, the bat file used to run the mod was renamed and that's why it is getting the error.
Steam looks for Run_EasternFront.bat and there is no longer a file named like that. Rename the file with the former name and it will be fixed.
EDIT:
Nevermind... I uploaded the latest build again, with the new version of the missing "executable".
-
I got it working with the temporary fix as well. The main download is still 110-113 MB though, if you try downloading the normal way. I think I prefer the previous patch anyway haha.

Something is wrong tho :D
Trying to start the CoH:EF and it says missing executable ... but also didnt got any downloads for the game. Yesterday it was starting and working with the previous version.
I checked my game folder and there is a .bat file called Run_EasternFront.bat
-
O well, if you have the 2.8gig ef_beta folder you can still start via New Steam version with starting parameter : -dev -mod ef_beta.
-
oh, ok
So at the end the Steam EF atm is still only ~110MBs, not the full game.
-
Update, the beta works again. Just download or re-download and it'll work like it used to.
-
Alright, that was fast. Thanks for the Beta key.
-
after a small update the normal ef steam version broke again, I mean it shows the executable error again :/
Fixed.
So I had a bat file called Run_EasternFront.bat and I needed to rename it to Run Eastern Front.bat
-
Excuse me for probably asking the obvious, but where can I download the beta? Can anyone post a link please?

Beta keys only for ,,selected" ;) unfortunately I did not get into this list :-\

That I remember yeah... I was away some time from the game and forum and stuff and thought the beta had become more freely available... Love this mod, can't wait for updates and new content to come out! :)
