Title: Conscripts
Post by: Arbiter900 on November 06, 2009, 01:41:53 AM
I was wondering, in your description of the conscripts you guys wrote " full weapon supply is not possible " so does that mean that not all conscripts will have guns and have to pick them up off the ground?

in the beginning conscripts will only have 3 noism nagats out of the 6 men you have. They will get upgraded later on if you realy want to.

You're right, just a little correction: Conscripst are a 8 man-squad.

It'd be nice if you could :
 1) Not make conscripts die like mayflies (Not like 1/2
health individually volksgrenadiers) Make 'em be 'normal',
or slightly more fragile, but not paper tissue-like.
 2) But, slap on them the british 'slow in the absence of
officer' penalty. You already have the Commander unit
in-game to offset this, it encourages blobbing (which the
russians are very much into) and, it's a minus to
counterset the fact that they're not made of tissuepaper?

The eventual addition of Commisar removes this. As it's
a built-in officer. But it would be in the vein of slow-in-the
 -beginning Russians.

 What sayeth you?

A more pressing question I have (and I apologize as I'm sure this has already come up) is how the Germans will cope with Conscript "spam".

If, as the descriptions suggest, Conscripts will cost zero manpower, will the Russians not be able to spam multiple Con. squads at game start and overwhelm the enemy? If this is at all possible then, on the contrary to Loup, I'd say yes...they should be like tissue-paper and be able to get torn up by a squad or two of Pioneers.

I'm sure somebody or a dev will enlighten me quickly on this, and please do. For now I will froth at the mouth dreaming of 10 Conscript squads overtaking the German base within the first 5 minutes of a game. Hahaha for Stalin!

Well, HMGs, Mp40 Volks, Minefields, various anti-infantry
vehicles. I can see those wittling down conscripts rather
quickly.  They have 200MP/0POP costs at current (subject
to change). I see them as quasi riflemen/volkstruppen
wannabes. Like British soldiers before the officer.

Weak in begginning, but useful to catch up the initial
late-ness (0 unit) of soviets, especially in capping power.

Notice they can't retreat. Artillery, HMGs will chew them
up before the commissar comes along.
