wow a flower and a gernade next to him thats........thats nice (I think that was in Africa BTW)

Don't know where it was, but those german dudes have
SS on their collars ;)
Yea, defensive grenade. I'm surprised, though. It doesn't look
like a german grenade at ALL. More like a russian F1 grenade.

Germans had more grenades than just the m24 Stielhandgranate. :)

you lie :D
Like what? :)
And not asking about the bundle grenade :D
-
Its an M39 grenade

hmmm ok
btw: what happened to your picture burro?
-
Seems like most games don't talk about it. Germans are
always portrayed with PotatoeMashers, or bundled versions
thereof ;)
Nice pic, by the way. How many more grenades did they
have?
- Side topic what grenades shall Soviets have?
I recall from my COD playing russians having a lighter/rust
colored stick-grenade grenade thing, where you apprently
stick a bullet into it to arm it?

My image host has been screwing around lately... they do this from time to time (probably server maintenance). It should be back up in a few days... I hope.

have?
Apart from the variations of the M24 and M39, they had the M43 which was basically the same as M24 but was easier to manufacture.

That would be the RGD-33 which had a complicated preparation method. The 'bullet' would be the Fuse... the grenade had to be cocked first and then a separate fuse had to be entered into the top before it was ready to be thrown.
-
- Oh wow, yea, this is the grenade allright.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGD-33_grenade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGD-33_grenade) good for early
WW2 :) Put it on a long timer? ;) (Cooldown) It's pretty.
God, so complicated. Not my fave 'nade from a use side, but
it's pretty, and historical, and yea :)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RG-42 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RG-42) was a lot more common
though. Make smaller cooldown for it? Nice upgrade, xcept it's ugly. Oh well, can't win :)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F1_grenade_(Russia) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F1_grenade_(Russia))
Look at this puppy. It's got a nice boobytrap option, very
evil. Use it :) When people try to demine it, boom! :D
Eh. Grenades that can be used for boobytrapping :) I like.
Burns the cooldown timer, though?
- Awesome eye on figuring what grenade I was talking
about, though, Burrodiablo :)
-
I remember seeing it in CoD1, back in the days when the internet wasn't so abundant, and wondered why the hell it was wearing a quilted smoking jacket. So I instantly knew which one you were talking about :P
-
Apparently, according to the wiki, you can also fit an extra
coat onto the grenade, which makes it way deadlier. I'm confused as to what is a defensive or an offensive grenade
though. I've always though defensive was (Want to go boom but not kill you) and offensive was (want to make as big a boom kill radius as possible since I'm nowhere close to it). The wiki for this grenade suggests otherwise, so now I'm confused.
yea, COD1 is where I learned about this grenade too :)
-
Other way around. A defensive grenade has large area of effect due to extra fragmentation whereas an offensive grenade has a smaller area of effect. I'm not sure if a defensive grenade wounds more but kills less and an offensive grenade kills more and wounds less... but there must be a reason for not making it Frag so much i.e You happen to be close by and don't want to get a face full of shrapnel when it goes off...
-
I understand that. But I don't understand the rationale
between offensive and defensive. Shouldn't the deadlier one
be the offensive one? I don't see the point of getting blown
up myself just to protect myself ???

wow I mention that the cat has a grenade and you guys can completely change the topic of "lol cats" do explosive devices ;D
-
Not like its completely off topic. Would it please you more if we talked about the environmental plight of the oil rich coastal regions of Venezuela?
-
Yah i heard it hasnt been getting any better
Back on topic: The way I see it, you want an offensive grenade to have a smaller blast radius because in theory, your moving toward the direction that your throwing. Smaller boom means less chance of your face catching your own shrapnel
-
- Venezuelan oil fields, uh?
- Well, at least the topic was still inspired by the image.
Still on topic as far as I knew. Albeit on a more parallel path.
- Oh, that makes more sense. Kinda. I can't think of throwing
'defensive' grenades at the enemy for a 'preparatory' barrage
before I charge :). It's picked my curiosity now. Nonetheless,
nice explanation :)

The meaning of "defensive" is that you should only use the grenade if you got some cover (as defense) so you won't get hurt by the fragments.

No, not Africa. They're SS, and Rommel I don't think allowed SS in with the Afrika Korps.
-
Haha, sweet cat and kinda nice soldiers, not all Germans were ice-cold. :P Perfect example. ;D
-
You ignored the hand grenade.

As long it doesn't explode, it looks cool. ;D Killer-cat.
