Title: Intro music?

You guys should totally use Sabaton's "Panzerkamf":

Sooooo appropriate. Read the lyrics :) Cmon!!!!

I like the song, but it is inappropriate for the intro I think.
one of these songs I would consider for matching!

There March The Soldiers - Red Army Choir - CCCP USSR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2DbqHsmR0k&feature=PlayList&p=38631E9C4C7A16CF&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4#normal)

Title: Re: Intro music?

 - I like 'There march the soldiers' by Red Army Choir. Got a nice
history ring to it, too. Hey, it's great that there are choices
 available :)
 - Bear McCreary : Kara remembers. Interesting song ?
 Is it appropriate, though?

That was my personal opinion... but don't get your hopes up :P

As for the music, I don't think we can use any of these due to copyrights (or so i've heard)
Title: Re: Intro music?

 - Get my hopes up... well, at this rate, it'll be released
publicly before a 2nd round of beta can get started, yes?
Eh. Too many changes I'd love to implent to improve the mod,
though ;) Give it more 'flavor' ;) (Yes, I'm all for balance, don't
 worry) lol. ;)
 - Public release doesn't mean it means to stop working at it,
 does it?
 - Music, ahh, copyrights. Well, the russian one, it's old old,
to statute of limitations could help. As for Sabaton one,
 I'm sure they'd be HAPPY to help/oblige. They're pro-war
(their songs are all about war)(not war itself, but more the
history part of it?). And it'd make 'em extra promotion,
And it's not like you'd be making profit from it. Why the hell
 not? :)
 - Just ask first :D

pfffft I have friends and family that work for A.S.C.A.P. its the American copy right protection company.

that song is rather old and if the chap who made it is dead (probably is) then you would have to wait something like 70 years BUT it was made in Communist Russia so just like the AK47 the lad probably did not make a penny off the song and has and forever will remain in the public domain

mind the publicity. Surely can find something, somewhere.

yeah but............sense Russia was a Communist state back in the day I don't think that many artists would copyright their music so I think that you could just use any ww2 RUSSIAN music and it should be free to use. Only RUSSIAN music though, and plus the artists are probably all dead which means less money to spend on it if they did copyright it (which they didn't)

Mmmm I think thtat you should use some historical march.

I belive Katyusha is perfect for example:

Katiusha - Red Army Choir - CCCP USSR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVhnSC_u3i4#normal)

Or the Russlandlied:

Russlandlied (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn0GpUgYOEs#normal)

P.S: How do p put the Youtube videos in the forum ????

Eh, I love those songs :)
The only heavy metal I've liked was the Swede Sonata
thing Panzermarch or something. It felt perfect :D

I like historical or on-topic. Not 'Be my sexy bitch' hip hop :(

Or perhaps instead of using music, we could use a speech...

The song is called The Sacred War if you want to look up a translation, also this song was written around the begining of the German attack into Russia so this is historical

We are looking for generic war-film music with a Soviet twist. You don't hear 'Rule Britannia' nor 'Yankee Doodle' when you play as the Allies, so we need to follow this example for the Soviets.

That RA3 song isn't a WWII era song - it was made specifically for RA3. Half of it is gibberish or doesn't make sense.
Title: Re: Intro music?
Post by: Voop_Bakon on December 15, 2009, 06:32:03 AM
That doesnt matter. The point of the intro music is the feel (and neutrality apparently). This is both neutral and has that "Russian" feeling. Only problem is copyrights
Title: Re: Intro music?
Post by: BurroDiablo on December 15, 2009, 10:59:36 AM
No no, that Soviet March song from RA3 is not going into this Mod... its a good song, but it was made for a game that was exaggerated to the extreme. As TheBomb says... half of the lyrics are absolute gibberish... that's not going to please our Russian speaking friends  :P

If anything (and there's no fear of copyright breaching), we'll go for a wartime or war themed Soviet song.

All Soviet WWII songs are great. In creating this post my goal was to persuade the mod dev team not to use just any random WWII song and slap it onto the main menu. This seems to be the trend with people who aren't familiar with Soviet era music but are interested in its history. As an example, imagine if someone made an Iraq war mod and slapped on the mission impossible theme song (fitting name though heh..) The song must FIT and jive with the game.

Yeah, I have the Band of Brothers boxset, it's typical glorified crap, and the music is the same... sad, heroic, something they wouldn't play if they were making a film about the Soviets.

Speaking of crap, theres always the Enemy at the Gates opening music, but its still not Russian enough imo, even though apparently its adapted from a Ukrainian lullaby...

Ryousan, you have my vote.

Either that or a manlier version of the USSR theme.  The women in the choir make it too friendly sounding.  A Russian hug as apposed to a Soviet smash.

To GI John 412. Thanks man!!

I think there very few songs thata re as meaning as Katyusha or  Sacred War.

If it is not a problem a song with lyrics (but not a chorus) I suggest this one...

Муслим Магомаев: Журавли (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-i8-gmHl8o#normal)

The instrumental USSR anthem would be excellent for credits or menu music and I recommend that it is implemented in this way.  However, I do not think that it would be appropriate for battle music in game.

so...can anyone tell me what music was actually picked for the menu??  it sounds like more than one song, but if not then that effect could be intentional... in particular i'm looking for the section that sounds like the Red Army Choire, deep and emotional sounding as opposed to fast and upbeat...every time i boot up EF and i hear that song start, i sit there and listen to it before i play lol  ;D
Anyone know? ???
