Hello everybody I am new to the community but I have been following you from the day I saw the announcement on the GR site.
First thing first... YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!
I watched the shout cast and it looks freaking amazing, just marvelous in one word!
Everything was so perfect that I just can't come up with a complain at all. Although just one thing that caught my eye was in-game music for Soviets, I noticed that it was soundtrack from Panzer Elite army and I didn't like it :( It sucked, I was expecting some battle inspired red hammer and scythe communist war music ...
Non the less I think I have a solution for this if you haven't already managed to implement it...
Why don't you use the Enemy at the gates movie scenes and movie music to enrich this game mod with pure Soviet epicness????
I think you should really look into these links and try to produce a good war soundtrack for Soviets, they deserved it!
This one would be perfectly matching the ingame music for Soviets if combined with some other parts of the soundtracks picked from the movie Enemy at the Gates :)
Enemy at the Gates: Soundtrack "Koulikov" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRyrDi8AiGU#normal)
Second link, I think it has very good drums and awesome melody for in game music if combined with the tense and mysterious sounds from the first link...
Enemy at the Gates - A Sniper's War (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkIsxWgzheE&feature=related#normal)
This one could be really used as initial part of the in game music and then after add some kind of good repeatable Russian war music possibly from the previous links or just use the part from 1:40+ and make awesome in game music for Soviets :)
Enemy at the Gates - Vassili's Fame Spreads (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhw2UVH3-H4&feature=related#normal)
Major Ivan Danko would be proud too :P
Thanks for reading I really hope you will check out these links and manage to sort out an in game sounds for Soviets.
Doing this would bring you step closer to win the modding contest etc... :)
Cheers for the mod can't wait to play it !!!

Enemy at the Gates isn't a serious movie. Putting in music or, god forbid, movie scenes would be a bad joke.
Anyway, the Enemy at the Gates music scores you listed are a little too slow paced - I don't see them jiving very well with combat engagements.

I would suggest something along the lines of Hearts of Iron 2 music - sample:
Hearts of Iron 2 Soundtrack - Kriegsgewitter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQJrotmk2o4&feature=related#normal)

Oh my bad :)
Well I wasn't really saying to use the scenes from the movies, but to use the music from the movie scenes, it's nice
And when you hear Wehrmacht or US in game music you will notice that's gloomy steady army music :D
I personally think some of the soundtrack music from the film would make really nice touch to the Soviets...
I wasn't trying to suggest any kind of plagiarism from another game to be honest

While not genuine Soviet music, which i would kinda like to see, I think you have chosen quite an awesome song that could work verrry well. Its pretty powerfull, and inspiring. But i dont have a specific example atm.

C&C Red Alert music (Hell March) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb-gI_pFog0#normal)
And now for something completely different...
Definitely not too slowly paced.
-
lol, NOT the Hell March, please. Too many negative connotations go with it, especially if you played as much RA1 as I did back in the day. Plus, it's guitar shredding heavy metal... which I love... but not exactly WW2 now is it? ;D
-
Of course it
would should never work with a serious mod.
The Blitzkrieg mod for CnC Generals used the original hell march as a theme for the menu at one point. While I cannot confirm that they still do Blitzkrieg was definitely a serious mod.
With an odd sense of humor.

Enemy at the gates - is a worst ever movie about Eastern Front. Silly BS made by idiot for idiots who dont know history.
I was born in USSR (wich is suposed to be in EF mod), and was some time in Army Service. And I can tell You mates - there is the ONLY melody wich describes REd Army (Soviet Army) very much - "Прощание Славянки"

"USSR (wich is suposed to be in EF mod)"
huh I thought they were adding Mexico.....DAMM WRONG MOD!

I've not seen Enemy at the Gates (shock horror) so I have an unwarped image of the Soviets in my head (despite playing much C&C and COD in my lifetime), but I remember seeing a trailer for it back in the day and thought it looked like the gayest thing ever... Russians with English accents, wtf is this? I saw the same trailer again recently by chance and my oppinion hasn't changed...

Good song here from MoH
