I felt that the allmighty sniper ace deserves its own topic.
Its a very micro dependetn unit, with great range before it camos, meaning that it can just walk right past fallshirmjagers without them noticing and preceed to snipe them alll from behind. Yeah. And it infiltrates.
Are there any particular stratergies that can be used in tandem or comprised solely of a sniper ace?

The Sniper Ace should be used as a forward observer and to harass the enemy. So the regular sniper and the Sniper Ace should have pretty similair tactics. But ofc you should from time to time just walk around and shoot some germans =)

The Sniper Ace moves at normal speed when cloaked, something that on other snipers requires vet. So no, the Sniper Ace should not be used as a spotter. It can function as one, but if you are not stickying heavy tanks and sniping officers/HMGs, you are probably wasting his pop.

The sniper ace camo activates fast and cannot be seen unless at a very close distance. So its great for using the forward observation artillery ability.

He also recamos immediately after firing, not even requiring you to move him. I've found on large maps I can essentially create a choke point with a Sniper Ace and a 1 or 2 sharpshooter teams.

Yeah, he is pretty much going to murder all the infantry on the map if left unchecked by the enemy, so you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want with him, all above strategies are valid. However, like any other sniper, he is easily countered by bikes/schwimwagens and since he cant retreat, he will always lose to them. His sticky bomb can sometimes insta-kill one bike but it doesn't always work and he will obviously get killed by two regardless of the circumstances. Great unit overall, but 750mp getting countered by cheap 220mp units is kind of a deal breaker.

Voroshilovskiy arrows (sniper) costs much, but the other sharpshooter kills him(it) with one shot. Can well add him hp?

Actually bike is 180, so even more so :P, unless you consider that he is an excellent support unit, possible the best in the game
Pick of troublesome infantry and can get out fast with smoke. Use sticky to damage engine of a tank and finish off with AT or circle strafe. Finally, for only 100 mun, you can get arty where ever you need.
Good luck with 2 motorcycles though

The fact the other player needs to micro 2 bikes to hunt down 1 sniper is a good thing. By the time I get a Sniper Ace, I usually have more than enough manpower to replace him in the unlikely case he dies. My last match I got 92 kills (90 infantry, and 2 light vehicles) before a random nebel and StuH ended his life. He sat near the German base unloading arty and killing groups of grenadiers. I also realized he doesn't leave a 'trace' of his rounds, making it that much harder for enemies to spot him. I've done some testing with him, and he can get very close to enemies without being spotted- He really is the best recon anti-infantry in EF.

This is my biggest problem with both the sniper ace and sharpshooter team. Sniper Ace needs to have that tracer, or at the very least a notification that you were sniped

sharpshooter teams can`t move while camouflaged and can`t retreat. Smoke trail will reveal unit`s position after a single shoot and would be too easy to kill them.

I never play against the Russians, I adore them. This mod is the most amazing Expansion in this game, better then the British and PE additions to the game - the Sniper Ace is my second favourite unit, my favourite being the massive 120mm Mortars..
The Sniper Ace is unbelivable, I find camping him accross a river from a point is the best way to get kills, if left unchecked, I've seen him amass some 500 kills against Wermacht forces just by camping that 1 point..

i like using the sniper ace to harass Panthers and in the unlikely case of king tigers. I camouflage him, and throw the mag. anti-tank grenade on the tank's behind. it will destroy the tank's engines, making it uber slow. Then use the artillery ability to finish the tank off. Now for infantry, send in a unit or two of conscripts to occupy the Germans, and use the sniper to pick off the German inf. from a safe distance. anything in between should just be ignored (except Mg crews and artillery units).

I have to say that the sniper ace is probably my favorite unit now :D....I like to stick him at an enemies base and shoot all the men that jerry retreats.!!!!! ;D....he is just so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the sniper ace as a strategy helper.
not entirely a helper. but double flame murder is what i do aha

I agree with dillon, Sniper Ace is now my favourite unit, got 130 kills with him today and I was just supporting some IS-2's at Lenningrad while they cleaned house.. It's really strange how 1 sniper can take out an entire army... (I whiped out all the AT's and HMG's beforehand with only him then let the IS-2's deal with the amour, good teamwork right there)..

I once moved him in behind an enemy hq and just kept raining arty down on him ;D. He never figured out why I could keep hitting his base!

yea, I just hurrass the enemy with him behinf their lines.

Normally, I use the Sniper Ace as something to draw the enemy out.
I'll normally sneak him into enemy territory and capture one of their points. His capture is quite fast for a sniper.
I'll then set him fairly close to the area, and wait. If I chose to do so, I'll support him with a SharpShooter squad.
As soon as enemy infantry comes to recap, POP. The Ace will take one out, camo, and repeat.
If they send Bike or Tank support, magnetic AT comes in handy.
But if they send 2 bikes, your pretty screwed. I then proceed to use the arty and hide him out of the area while the bikes scan.
If a TANK comes, you can take that out pretty easy:
1.Go around the tank to the opposite direction of the turret. (If the turret points North, go to the South end of the tank)
2. Use the Magnetic AT. The tank will attempt to kill you, but you'll camo before the turret can turn towards you.
3. There is a large chance of damaging the engine. Slight of destroying it, and slight of immobilizing it.
4. If one of the three options in Step 3 occurs, I call in the arty and finish it off (:<

A single shot reveals every unit`s position.
Sharpshooters shouldnt be compared to snipers becouse theyre cheaper, have 2 men (so if you get countersniped you loose less than 100MP and some time to reinforce)
and can be upgraded (very cheaply) with a arti call-in.
Allied snipers should also be weaker than axis becouse axis infantry squads have less men. Thats why wehrmacht sniper slowly heals himself at vet1 and shoots faster than a US sniper.

It will not
KCH have heroic armour meaning that they need to be sniped twice regardless of damage because of the critical table.

The sniper ace is OP in my opinion, too difficult to kill. Also, he should not be able to call in FOO from stealth, it should certainly uncloak him. A well microed and supported ace is pretty much impossible to kill excepting a counter-snipe.
For everyone's info: Smoke trails don't matter for any snipers because if you press the unit sniped button it will center your screen right on the enemy sniper. You can even continue clicking the icon to follow the enemy sniper as he's walking in stealth so you know what direction he's moving in. Note, this tactic doesn't work with the ace because he moves faster than your troops.

I think xp cost should be higher, and MP cost too. But dev shouldnt nerf him, because he's a kind of "ultimate unit", like King Tiger. And a King Tiger is also almost impossible to kill when well supported.

Thats 1 man who cant retreat youre talking about.
Comparing him to a Tiger is wrong becouse Tigers cant be squished by M10s/Cromwells.
Just get 2 pumas and a bike (740MP) or 3 scout cars (660MP).

It was confirmed that veterancy and retreat will be implemented in the next patch; unless Dev's denies this I speculate that all types of infantry would be able to retreat.

Ist a fact that devs try hard to ballance the game.
I speculate that all types of infantry will loose something becouse they will be able to retreat. But there is no topic "Strelky will be OP".
Its also a fact that noone knows how the Soviet retreat will work.
Will it have a cooldown like UKs retreat to Captain positions will it be available after gaining vet will it be an upgrade or will it cost ammo?
Maybe sniper ace will gain abilities (stickies, smoke) after gaining vet.
This topic is about the 1.11 Sniper Ace. 1.20 will change everything - its a well known fact.

i just use the germans as target practice. Altilary strikes are a good way of tacking care of the mg nest that block bridges and small roads. Hes so cool... huns run in circles like chickens without their heads when i shoot at them... poor old jerry
