Title: A method to secure territory?
Post by: (2142)Gen.Reaper on January 23, 2010, 10:31:16 PM
Currently the Red Army lacks the ability to secure the territory they have captured.

I consider this a major balance issue because the other factions can secure territory, which means they also can produce MORE resources than the Soviets(Because Secured territories generate more resources than a unsecured).  This also means it is very easy to Flank the soviets and cut their supply lines.

The Soviets can get manpower easily, It is Fuel and Munitions that I am worried about, they seem to generate those 2 resources slower than the other factions to me.

So the Methods I suggest are:
1. Give the Outpost the power to secure territory
2.Make a Observation Post Like building for the soviets
3. Go with the Panzer Elite's Style of using a specific type of vehicle to secure territory
4.The British Method with deploying trucks.

I always thought the Outpost should be able to upgrade to a communications post for some amount of fuel or something like that.

No, no, no, no and no. The whole reason they cannot capture territory is part of the 'historical' aspect- That and the Soviets don't need to be OP'd even further.

What historical aspect? And what do outposts have anything to do with making the Soviets OP? If they have a legitimate weakness, regardless of other strengths, it should be addressed.

I think outpost should be able to build on resource point. spend a few manpower to up to reinforce and be garrisoned.
And of course, a unique model will be better :D

Play Soviets with one American teammate and let him secure the territory.

Tried that and it failed miserably, I was not able to generate enough resources to build that many Observation Posts and maintain my company at the same time. It will be better if the soviets could secure their own territories themselves rather than rely on their allies, so their allies can manage their companies.

The idea that an Outpost can be upgraded to secure territory (like a PE scout car) is great but the capping speed of all USRR infantry needs to be nerfed.
This upgrade should cost as much as the expensive british upgrade (additional 250MP/25fuel).
