Maybe this has been covered, maybe not.
In a perfect world it would be nice if those who produced Blitzkrieg Mod and group who put this EF mod together could put aside their respective ego, drama, pride, wanna be gamer programer mentality, resume padding desires, top artist awards, historian professorship, and other motives, to combined their mods into one "Superpatch."
You may certainly re-establish all of these motives once a Superpatch is complete. In doing so, yes you will "one up" the company that produced COH series because all of your talents combined produced a "complete" mod with much greater depth of play. ::)

i do not like the Blitzkreig mod. I do like the EF mod. I would not like Blitzkreig mod anywhere near the EF mod. Keep in mind this is only personal opinion and is in no way disrespecting the Blitzkreig mod or its developers.

I've never played that mod. What's a basic description of it?

I Really HATE, that mod; Blitzkrieg. I can't say im not offending the devs of it when in my opinion that mod definietly doesn't deserve to be anywhere near Eastern Front.
of course its just my opinion, but I dont think the Devs of EF will ever merge with a 3rd party mod.
EF + Blitzkrieg mod = Fail, Complete waste of talent.

You certainly know how to present attractive ideas, man.

Realism mod set in the Battle of the Bulge. Squads are bigger, greater lethality, sector capture through infantry presence rather than flag taking, more realistic tank damage model, new units, skills, doctrines, etc...
Basically, it works from vCoH to give you new units and an evolved gameplay.

most of my pals do not like Blitz mod (a few do)
( I do not like getting units 'killed from beyond visual range' )

Thats actually the "Battle of the Bulge" mod, it also has a new realism model and is specifically focused around the aforementioned battle...

Blitzkrieg is abit different, still realism based but more just like vanilla CoH settings but with bigger techtrees and a few more units...

Im quite fond of BotB but not too fussed about Blitzkrieg...and I definately dont want it near EF ;D
Cheers

Like everything, Blitzkrieg mod is subjective. If you like it, well done, good for you, but don't go trying to force it down everybody's throats like it was some kind of religion.

Interesting replies. Of course some fail to see the sarcasm in my post. I don't expect groups that produce mods to ever consider the larger picture of joining talents with other mod producers because of all of the issues of human nature that I touched upon. Its just too much for folks to overcome. Wether one sees views EF+Blitz = Complete mod. Or perhaps better expressed EF+ "X" = Complete Mod. Where "x" equals some other comprehensive patch of ones own choosing.
I am glad someone has chosen to add the Russian forces to this sim. It's obvious a lot of work and effort, artistry, 3d modeling, research, and programming, all went into producing it. The fact remains, from a player perspective until or unless the axis forces are brought up to par with this Mod with new units, structure, art, its NOT a "complete" mod.
And by the way, I am amused by the comment by apparently someone involved with developing this mod that I am "forcing" the Blitz mod "down everybody's throat." Far from it, refer to my comments about the human nature aspects of those who develop mods, and I think you have proven my point. Probably by your own standards on forum flaming you might want to exercise your awesome power and ban yourself from your forum. Or, myself if you don't value honest public opinion.
I don't fawn over mods or sims themselves. Frankly, I think too many people fawn over games on these boards and "enable" poor or second rate products.
I wish you well EF. I know these mods take a lot of time and effort to produce. 10 years ago, I produced a major comprehensive mod of a very popular military flight sim from the ground up (no pun intended), from 3d mods, research, art, programming. I have been published in military aviation journals since. As for games mods, I got out of that "business" and decided other things in life are much more important.
I look forward to your improvements from whatever course you take with it and hope you find that your time is well spent;)

Nice to see a veteran mod developer. However, I think you are confused about the reason why we don't want to merge with other mods. It's not because of our big egos or whatever you are seeming to suggest. It's because from the very start, Eastern Front was designed to simply add a new faction to the original Company of Heroes mix, and keep everything as 'Relic' as possible. As soon as we start mixing in all these realism/balance/skin/gameplay mods out there, then we end up with something which is distinctly not Company of Heroes. We quite simply don't want to alienate our audience of predominantly non-mod players.
That is not to say that these other mods are no good. Quite the opposite, most of the EF developers are in some way connected to different mods, and we really enjoy playing a variety of other mods.

I have actually noticed EF uses a lot of the same stuff from blitzkrieg. Like the grenatenwerfers are basically the 120mm soviet mortars, the snipers are 2 man squads, and virtually ALL the changed sounds were used in it as well.

I stand by personal experience that some people who play the Blitzkrieg mod try to turn every other mod into Blitzkrieg, and your post comes off just like that. If your post was trying to be 'sarcastic', it didn't work, just like the majority of forum bound satire. We collaborate at Black Sands Studios... we help others with modding CoH the best we can, but at the end of the day, it's up to those individual people to take their new knowledge and make it work for themselves. All our devs are free to go collaborate with whoever they wish, and a few of us do... we're not tied down to the single mod although it is a lot easier to keep track of your work if you are just part of the single mod team and not taking requests from several different teams all wanting different stuff.
Probably by your own standards on forum flaming you might want to exercise your awesome power and ban yourself from your forum. Or, myself if you don't value honest public opinion.
And telling a mod/dev to go 'Ban' himself because he disagee's with your apparent sarcastic post isn't any less inflammatory? I do value public opinion, I don't value persons stirring hostility simply due to differing views.
-
Somehow fail to see why there is such hostility due to a decision not to allow the 'Art Content' of this mod to be incorporated into others.
Knowledge is and has been shared by the devs with other mods on a regular basis. This exchange of information has allowed the progress and integration of many new things in COH. We ain't 'the bad guys' some people would like to somehow portray us just because we ain't allowing use of the art content.
Sarcasm that hides bitterness ain't welcome from anyone regardless of 'backround' and doesn't carry any weight with us. It just sounds like a fail attempt of 'bullying' really at best. You should really refrain from using it in the future cause you're giving the wrong impressions...
Knowledge and people are available to make new stuff,

You guys have worked damn hard on this "mod". Its really more of an unofficial expansion. Glad you don't let other mods cannibalize the hard work you have done. Its the devs decision on what is done with the content, take it or leave it. Ill take it happily :).

wait WHAT! some one tolled me "do us all a favor and go die in a fire!" and you guys tolled me to stop trolling W T F!!
-
Ford, you have been the board troll since prehistory ::)
-
They patched the battle of the bulge mod?! I love EF mod and I loved botb mod (but then I uninstalled it because it wasn't TOV compatible) I didn't believe the mod would get updated in my lifetime. Still I have EF mod now
-
I like EF and dislike blitzkrieg for some reasons and my opinion is not for combining this mods.
But...for the future....maybe developers of Eastern Front will take a look at the multitude of command points and skills from Blitzkrieg, and will give a little boost in Eastern front in that direction,in their unique stile....but not so many command and abilities like in BK...because the essence is lost in the "forest"...but much more than it is now in EF....
With careful analysis, and approval from Blitzkrieg...many new skills for units and command points, can push Eastern Front even more,in the shortest time possible, to a splendid horizon.

The thread was locked before it got out of hand and you both said your piece... you called him a troll, he retaliated... takes two to Tango, baby.
What do you expect us to do about it anyway? Give him a slap on the wrist? Fine him? Send him to bed with no supper? If he becomes a pain in the ass and just personally attacks people without provokation, then sure, we can ban him... but if he just becomes another ranting member of the community, we can't ban him... fuck, if we banned him for that we'd need to ban the majority of the people here. :P
Anyway, no more off topic... anybody else who has an opinion on this EF+Blitzkrieg match made in heaven, state your piece and move along.
