Title: Playing Since Launch, A few thoughts. The right mix is close!
Post by: SergeK on February 01, 2010, 02:37:55 PM
Hey fellas, I've been playing since launch, and have a few points to make. First off, I believe the balance is very close to being good. Only two or three gripes.

1) Sniper build time is ridiculous. The fact that now the upgrades are done on a sniper by sniper basis, there shouldnt be much issue with pumping them out and worrying about Arty spam. So, turn down the build time from 50 to about 35-40.

2) You guys took away the ability to build the Soviet Support center right away. (Lowered starting fuel significantly) This is unacceptable. To compensate, let us start with one engineer squad. One or the other would work. Give us a starting engy squad, or give us back the ability to make Support Center right away.

3) Russian MG Dugout is too expensive and can't be re-crewed. I know the re-crewing is relics issue and not EF's. But either way, they are too expensive.

afaik russians NEVER could build the soviet support center right away

it costs 50 fuel and only 25 got removed => still 25 fuel missing

You were able to build support building right away with high resources enabled. Sorry for the miscommunication.

No point to build the Mustering Tent first since the builders are more effective fighters then non-upgraded Conscripts ;).

Good luck getting units out fast enough.

Don't need luck I've already done it. You'd be surprised that some simple, rather ridiculous tactics actually work, it surprised me the first time too.

After the health reduction they just arent the same as conscripts IMO, which is balanced.

i do

its technically currently not possible to let the russians recrew but maybe its possible to let no one recrew

im very annoyed when someone steal my mortar and i can't do shit against that until i have armor aount to attack ground it

if that isnt possible to let no one recrew the weapons than maybe make them destroyable by small arms fire

Why would you attack-ground your own Mortar? If your team picks it up thats fair imo, Russian Mortars are super powerful, it takes away from your popcap and it keeps the same firepower in the team.

I'm a team player so I see no problem with letting my team take my equipment if I should fail with it. However when the enemy takes it that pisses me off but it does with every army not just Russians. Although Russian equipment tends to be a little more powerful.

because i can not recrew it
when playing with my mate being us or brit than for sure i do not destroy it when he has something to recrew arround

but usually we play double russians and than its impossible to recrew it -> destroy to let it not fall into enemy hands

A fair and simple fix for the recrew issue would be to have some sort of explosive the ingenery unit could place only on heavy weapons (that soviets cant recrew) it would be on a time delay after it was placed then it would blow up, destroying the weapon so the germans coulent have it

Agree with that.

Agree with that.

Has a historical basis as well, weapons even down to infantry rifles(SVT40s) were purposefully destroyed to prevent capture.

And it used to be possible to build the support center at the start if playing with high starting resources.  It would be nice to bring back this ability.

be even more awsome if you could set traps on it, so when someone attempts to recrew, it detonates.  Same explosives as the point traps that the partisans have would be nice, since it could probably take out the 1/2 infy left standing by the crewed weapon.

Or put mines next to the abandoned weapons...  ;D

Bad idea.

Russians need allot of munition for upgrades, and spending ammo for this things is absurd.
