Now for start I'm gonna reassure everyone that this is not a rant or flame thread. This mod is great and I thank all of the developers for this mod they've made. However the only thing that bugs me is the lack of variety that the soviets have early game in their choice of tactics/strategy. It's pretty much either conscript spamming or ingenery spamming. To me this is a bit shallow but I don't know what can be done to remedy this but maybe some other units could be added for early game like mg teams or jeeps. I dunno really what could be done about this but I'm just putting it out there.
Cheers.

The only problem is that's exactly how the soviets won the war, manpower.

Right...
That's like saying the Americans "won the war" by throwing a lot of stuff at the Germans.
Anyway, I think you're missing the point of the thread starter which is that the Soviet faction is lacking in the early game strategy/tactics department. The tech tree that is supposedly coming out with the next patch should alleviate this issue a little but the issue will persist IMO. It would be nice if conscript/ingenery squads could get squad upgrades like every other faction. The armory stuff can stay like it is now, but the early game units could use a little customization from the player.

Ok early tiers 1-2 soviets are infantry all the way...but have same or more options than other factions with regards to that. They do lack halftracks and jeep type units I guess...
There will be some teching variety in the next patch due to change in options and in upgrade costs. So you could potentially rely on say upgraded NKVDs and sturmovies then go to faster T90s/70s...Or teck up to strelkies, upgrade them and then go for T34s/ISs

yeah lol i know your point, the russians captured berlin so yes they won the war, they also were responsable per the Tide Wave, but the americans gave their blood too, like the british and much other countrys :)

On topic:
Its true that the soviets are lacking an MG Team, have the developpers ever considered creating a Heavy MG team Armed with the Maxim Machinegun?
-
Of course, but animating it would be a bitch.
-
maby make a mg team with a Degtyaryov machine gun, but make it mountable unlike the strelky one.
-
the soviets don't need an MG, they use arty, mortars for suppression. The PE don't have a suppression MG and the faction works fine.
-
I don't think I'm saying that they need an MG team just they need more strategies early game than spamming conscripts/ingenery's

PE have Infantry halftracks, scout cars(sometimes) and Even the Grenadiers with Gewehr's to suppress. Sure, Soviet's can suppress but that's mid-late game. The Soviet's an early suppression unit like every other faction. Why cant they just have like a 4 man mg team? No maxim. It would be much easier to skin if it was just the team. Historical accuracy really isnt a big deal. The Soviets NEED some sort of suppression.
