Title: Bailout Option For Tank Crews?
Post by: HyperSniper999 on February 16, 2010, 01:58:19 AM
I thought it would be interesting to see tank crews having the option to bail out of a critically damaged tank (with limits, like "only X number of tank crews could bailout" and they can only bail out if a tank is critically damaged) The tank crew would turn into a very vulnerable squad armed with onl simple lugers and are killed even by conscripts easilly, however they make excellent repairmen (their expertise of the tank allows them to repair tanks twice as fast as upgraded Sappers) and they can "order in" anothother tank for a discount, but it has to be a medium tank (like a Panzer 4) and they CANNOT bail out of that tank again. They can also revive destroyed T34's and bring them onto the German side, but with a different skin to not confuse Russian players. They can't bail out of that, either. The crews of light tanks can't bail out, either.

Might be good if you are constantly getting owned by the random minefield or at gun, but  it would become an easy way to level up and get cp.

What if they had a bail out option and could get back into another tank that is identical to their old one and give it Veterancy... IE: A pzkf 3 crew bails out it is level 3 it can only get into another pzkf 3 and retain veterancy

No tank bailout.
EF is an add-on. It dosnt change the engine of the game.
Another thing is balance. Only US and PE would benefit from crew vet. Tanks would have to be more expensive too.

This idea can be good for Ostheer as a unique ability.

what if its a Doctrine specific ability? IE: Center Army Group? They where a Tank oriented Army ground... then it couldn't be abused

Yes, just like in C&C: Generals, Vetted medium/heavy Tanks can have their crew bail out, and it could be doctrinal.

Also you could have to do it manually, and the tanks get destroyed when you bail out. So you have to choose between getting the crew the hell out of there or try to make the tank survive and get repaired.

But I am not sure about the repair and "repair destroyed vehicles" ability. And maybe make them completely unarmed?

And BTW:

I'm not trying to be rude, but this is posted in OSTHEER suggestions, so I never think it was the intention to make it for anyone else than Ostheer.

Why would making it unarmed make it actually worth using? And it would only work with T34's, and we all know how weak those are. Perhaps, since the crew is new to the tank, it would be slower to turn and less accurate?
