The most forgotten nation that got steamrolled by the Red Army is certainly the Hungarians, Hungarians suffered a lot(especially in population) in the war while not much people are awared of that.
The Hungarians use a large variety of weapons, including their self-made tanks and those from Germany(like panthers). I am not an expert in the Hungarian Front but I am sure that it has lots of potential for the Eastern Front mod.

Support devs with Hungarian COH voices before theyll get Italian or Romanian ones and maybe youll have some Hungarian units.
-
My ostheer suggestion includes huge expansion on foreign units :D, including Hungarians

Including or adding foreign troops is not primary a question of voices ;) It is a question of the function and the symbolic value for a new axis army at the EF Mod.
-
Hungarians had the Turan tank, which was decent. inferior to T-34, its armor and gun were about like the panzer 38t

Hungarians could be like the axis brits, poorer equipments in general and infantry focused. However, the end-game tanks for them should be German-made. (It is like the brits using Shermans, not a big deal). Also, they have much self-made stuffs for a separate army. (I think they use Czech stuffs right? It would be interesting)
Also they could use some ATR and the "worse" equipments(but unique), in contrast to the superior stuffs the Germans have.
Also Hungarians are the strongest among all German allies in the East Front and they fought to the very end of the war.
Italians surrendered early in 1943 and they are out of question in a 1944 scenario, Romanians could be interesting but they also surrendered early and didn't fight really stubborn to the end.
(Finland might be interesting also! But they use too much foreign stuffs maybe)
-
What about Bulgaria and Croatia? They fought to the end pretty much like the Hungarians, and i'd also like to see Hung's in EF.
-
Lets just wait another 3 mouths to get some cheap unskilled troops. Not made to offense

no offense but I think Romania should be on the top of the list, they gave the most things to Germany such as petrol and manpower and had units in important areas during the war.

True :)

Trying to be the LEAST nationalist here, Italians, aside from Germany, gave the largest effort because of Mussolini. However, poor leadership backfired, and Italians pulled out earlier than other countries. Many overlook the effort Italy put into the war because they:
"Pulled out so early because they were worthless"
A statement of someone inaccurately describing Italian WWII history.
Italy pulled out because the troops fought valiantly, bravely, and put on a tough challenge, but the very troops just didn't want to fight for a empty-seat leader who barked demands for a measly alliance with Germany.
The Italian Army gave a strong effort in total, and probably contributed the most troop wise, but not in other areas, like steel or fuel.
The problem was that the Italians troops, individually, gave no effort, making the effort a bit, well, effortless, thus their early pull out.
You must also realize, while other countries did contribute plenty, Italy was the 3rd major Axis ally, and declared war against all of the Allies for their effortless "Cause" headed by a crazy man.

yea but Isnt this mod placed in '44? Or is it just based in ww2?
-
41-44 I believe
I think that the devs should make some kind of rule about foreign units, because every time someone suggests one, someone else lists several nations who were in WWII but didn't contribute a whole lot or were victimised.
The big four on the allies were France ,Russia, England, USA, yet France is not represented in any way (Hotchkiss doesn't count)And people are recommending nations from South America.(forgot who it was)
In my views if any foreign troops are to be represented they should be one of the following
-French
-Polish(it was the invasion of Poland that started the damn war)
-Belgian(come one ,they got ruined between the Allies and Germany in both World Wars)
-Italian(One of Germany's only allies in Europe)

No, Company of Heros is a 1944 game. Nomany, Market Garden, Panthers, ETC. 45 will be too late. Before 44 it wouldnt make sense.
Hey, I've got my 100th post :)
-
Just like Relic's factions, the Soviets and Ostheer are not bound by a specific year.
-
okay but if like you said it's '44 Italy would be out of the game; but because the dev said no then I would like to see Romania and Italy. The other nations did to little
-
I was asking for limits ,not making a recomendation.
-
not this kind of thread again <_<
-
Anthor whole page of people fighting ::)
-
You must also take into account the maps.
Soviets had pushed the Germans away from Stalingrad, for example, in early 43'. It's not just dependent on the content, that's represented as PROGRESSING as the war goes on. (Normally how a player works, infantry, light vehicles, elite infantry, tanks, etc.)
-
The devs made the map, any nomal map of company of heros is '44. Ef maps or different because either the dev and mapmakers didnt know, or had to make more maps.

Finland is #1 choice for the Ostheer support army I think. Since they helped the Germans in joint offensives against Russia - where as other nations just got their ass handed to them. Finland actually did quite well. And in the end the Finns pushed out the Germans and kept their land.
Small country with a big heart.
Anyway, it is a German army, it would require German Speaking Foriegn troops.
Ever heard of English-Speaking German troops? That kinda thing. While it's not 100% accurate it's about 50% and it works alot better then getting some half-arsed voice actor to do it.

A big heart with a long history ;)

Getting drunk and having a root every Friday is mandatory. Gotta love Saunsa.
