Hello all developers.
Forgive my naivity in modding but is it possible to simply remove the Russian unit phrases such as those which mention Shermans for the T-34 and such?
Or can you not remove a single phrase without affecting or removing all phrases from that unit?
Thanks for you responses and I love this mod!
-
ISU the big one says "firefly something" so yea ;D I think its just the unit its based off of T-60 says "greyhound something" (same something in fact)
-
The mods took Russian voices from both the Allied factions of the game.(Brits AND Americans)
That is why Sherman, Greyhound, and Firefly are frequently uttered ;)
-
Not any time soon, but we may edit them in the future.
-
Oh so it is possible. Thats all I wanted to know.
No more pressure on you guys!
Oh and to Cranialwizard I knew that, I was just wondering if it is possible to remove the specific phrases which contain 'greyhound', 'Pershing', 'rangers' etc: and leave the other phrases from that unit unaffected.
-
I'm not entirely sure if its possible to edit them, it may just be a case of deleting the files that mention Shermans, Greyhounds, Fireflys, etc.
-
What Burro said. Deleting would be best. Editing would get either impossible or too complex
-
But do you mean deleting all of the units vocals and re-recording new ones or just deleting those mentioning the innapropriate terms?
-
Infantry (mechanics) also say Rangers.... just saing.

You sure? Mechanics should have US Engineer voices.
-
I have not heard Rangers come from Mechanics. I'll play to check
-
No Rangers are from Partisans...

When Machanics are called-in you can sometimes hear: "Rangers on the field"
They dosnt speak like Rangers themselves but still its annoing.
I think all infantry call-ins have this problem.

Well if the people here who speak russian are noticing the issues with the unit phrases, why don't you put your knowledge of the russian language to use fixing it and provide some voice acting to replace the stock russian dialogue?
-
I can't speak for everyone, but I don't speak Russian.
However it is obvious when you select certain units that they are not referring correctly to what they are.
E.g the T-34, says "tank ready" I assume but instead of saying T-34 ready in Russian it says Sherman ready, the English word Sherman is very obvious in the soundbyte.
You don't need to know Russian to pick up on it.
