First poll, be gentle.
I have wondered for some time if the Soviets would benefit from having a jeep/scout car-esque unit. So I would like to know others' opinions on the matter.
Personally I believe that the unit, whatever it may be implemented as, should come from the barracks to provide an alternative to conscripts to add some variety to build orders.
It could also be a unit from the support barracks that requires none of the unlocks so that you may start with support barracks and be able to build a unit straight away. This would be similar to a foundry start (tank depot) as Dark Eldar in Dawn of War where they could build raiders? (can't remember the name - swoop bikes) as a unit similar to jeeps early game. These acted as an extremely glass cannon style unit which required serious micro to be used well. They could be very effective because they could be repaired for free if kept alive and could harass well, nullifying the capping disadvantage you put yourself at. This would allow people to go support start if they wished and add further variety to early game.
Another idea would be to add it as a doctrinal call-in, likely as a 1cp ability on the breakthrough tree. I am opposed to this idea because it limits the jeep to one doctrine, would give away your doctrine quickly and also be quite ineffective by the time it comes out.
Some would argue that the Soviets don't need a jeep because they have no problem with snipers but jeep-like units can be used for more than hunting these.

T-70 is working close to a Jeep, it has the detection range of a jeep I think (for clocked units), but not as long View Range.

I voted NO !!!
Because soviets had soooo many models of armored cars to be used and is absolutely no need to import another unit from US .
I am already VERY annoyed with this shermans for the soviets.
Russians had so many exotic/beautiful models of tanks and armored cars,but the developers has chosen to waste their time in that...thing...
I really don't understand them...

I don't see why you would remove one of THE iconic units of the Russians when you can just add it without replacing.
T-70 is working close to a Jeep, it has the detection range of a jeep I think (for clocked units), but not as long View Range.
With respect, the T-70 is nothing like the jeep except in the sniper hunting ability, something SU has no problem with. I mean add a jeep-like light vehicle early on that can spice up early SU build orders.

It doesn't have to be the Willy's jeep, just a similar light vehicle maybe even a scout car type thing. Also agree with the Sherman, although more for balance sake atm.

IMO Jeep or an armored car should be build in tank depot with no upgrades needed (40Fuel only).
My second idea is to replace OP Lend-Lease sherman with a 1CP Jeep/Armored car.
I would like too see an armored car (scaut car) better but if dews think its too much work to make a new model jeep will be great.

Lend Lease Sherman is OP because of the totally wrong stats which it got by mistake. When our coder, Sweeten. integrated it into the mod he used by mistake the stats from the gun from the ET mod (realism mod) and that it why it raped every early vehicle...not to mention incorrect cost...wait till the hotfix to try it out again
If we added a jeep type vehicle it would have been the armoured jeep aka Ba-64
Any other vehicle we add from now on will most likely be a 'reward unit'

I also think that if some scout unit would be implemented, shall be built from barracks, if its in any other building will be coming too late for what it does.

Well, what did they use as a recon vehicle realistically? I've been looking and I don't thing they had a light recon.

Honestly, this doesn't feel to me like a niche that isn't currently filled in the soviet pool of abilities.
Commisar has Binoculars.
Sharpshooter team can observe large parts of the map.
Sniper Ace has huge view radius.
If the soviets are gonna get a recon unit, it's gonna be a fast one that tracks down stealth units and secures points.

I'm sort of yes and no over this.
I'd like to see more variety in soviet early game than spamming conscripts. However if you simply added a jeep then I'm unsure how it would work as then the soviets would have two ways of defeating MG teams that cause suppression. So you'd might have to remove the officers fire-up ability or you'd might not need to. Either way it would need to be play tested.

I had thought of that and agree. I would much rather a light vehicle be added to counter mgs though than the OH SHIT! fire-up, something I already dislike in the American and British factions. After Soviets get retreat, I believe it should be removed and a light vehicle added.
BDNeon also has some good points although these abilities only focus on the sight range aspect and not the mobility of hunting down pios, among other uses. Also, many of these aren't exactly fielded early on bar the CS.
I'm pleased with the discussion so far. And yeah this probably should be in suggestions but since I found a major crash bug you'll have to give me a free pass this time :P.

The Soviets actually did have their own unique reconnaissance vehicle in the Second World War, It was called the GAZ-67B.
So I don't believe uniqueness would be an issue for this concept.

Russians don't technically need anti-sniper due to massive squad sizes, even for heavy weapons. At the moment though, the T-70 acts a sniper hunter and the command squad is decent at detecting as well.

Snipers are great vs Soviets...as long as you chip away at the important unts which hurts them cause they can't just retreat and escape the sniper. Keep the snipers behind your infantry units and micro them decently...and they can chew up the soviet sharpshooters too...
