As far as i know King Tiger Has little measure against infantries getting too close or try to capture it, so I'm suggest that some infantry have the ability to capture armor or emplacement with time as the cost of the work.

What if a tank crew lockes inside a tank? ::)

From a gameplay perspective this just plain sucks for reasons I shouldn't need to get into.
From a realism perspective: tanks have several mgs on them, hull, coax and turret, and these all create a devastating cone of fire against infantry. The guns in CoH are awful and don't do them justice at all. No one would actually be able to get into close range. The only places where things like this happened was in urban combat, which tanks were ill suited for. Also, random infantry couldn't even drive the tanks of their own country let alone one speaking a different language altogther. Lastly, the tank crew also had personal defense weapons and the tank had a lockable hatch. So you couldn't get in if you wanted to anyway.
Fun fact: Germany developed a curved barrel for their MP44s which allowed it to shoot round corners. The stress of changing direction shattered the bullets and they came out like shotgun pellets. This made the range practically unusable for normal combat but it turned out that it was really good if Russians were on the outside of the tank and the crew needed to hose it down. It was like a rapid fire shotgun that didn't expose the user to counter fire.

...would this even justify hordes of untrained, vodka-swilling and screaming conscripts swarming over my hard-earned Panthers and KT? NOT. ::)

In coh, they pretend the mgs are preventing this ability.
Its not unreal, dosent make the game unfun so it works.

Even if hull-mg of tanks is useless, allow simple conscript/volksgrenadier to capture armor would certainly kill the balance. A unit which cost 280 MP or less shouldnt be able to neutralize tanks (which are costly) by that way!

There is always a way to unlock tanks: with small explosives, AT nades, or even with a blowtorch (like workers-militia did at Stalingrad with panzers 8) )
But as GodlikeDennis said, there is armed crew insides tanks, and most of tanks had mg on cupola and in the hull.

If I remember correctly, Tigers and KTs had internal mine/grenade launchers mounted on top of their turrets for dealing with this sort of thing. Also, the smoke dischargers on the sides could (purportedly) also fire canisters containing chemical agents like tear gas...
-
You're right, tigers were product with this sort of equipment to deal with infantry, but wasnt they used only in the front of the tanks? And I didnt know that smoke discharger can fire canister. I've learned one thing today, thanks !!!!!!!!! ;D ;D

They wouldn't even need to capture the tank. If I remember correctly, most of the KT's were abandoned and set ablaze by their crew! Something about the Germans not being able to hold their supply lines. I think this was a great idea but it really would doom balance.

Well it's not a bad idea for something like an in-game cutscene or even campaign mission, but however for multiplayer or even 'comp-stomps' as has already been said it just wouldn't work out.

I don't want to defend the suggestions of prototype units, but i would like to point out the use of the Bergtiger in Coh could be used as a precedent for these. reason being only very few of these were produced and it was never meant for frontline combat. it was a recovery vehicle. (if the links from wiki page is correct). And the crane on it was not strong enough to lift tanks.
berg panzer however is a different story.
If i were to add a tank i would say the M3 lee for the US would be an interesting addition. A large number of these were built. As a light tank replacement.

For the British i think the Valentine tank would be a nice addition. as there were many variants of this. and saw much use through the north africa campaign.

For the germans i think a panzer 3 tank (with option to be upgraded to panzer 4) would be okay.
OR
Perhaps the sturminfanteriegeschutz would be an interesting tank to add for the germans. Although very few of these were made some did see action in Stalingrad.

Wrong thread, Kamerad.

Wow, TERRIBLE idea. First off, most tank crews locked the tank from the inside, and from the mass blobbing of Allied infantry, it would benefit the allies more so than the Germans......down right HORRIBLE idea.

We settled this topic 2 weeks ago, I don't think we need to restart it.
This topic has no future, so I lock it.
