I was wondering which faction had the best starting unit!!!!
the evaluation parameters are
hp,capping speed,building speed,damage vs infantry,damage vs light vehicles,moving speed,repairing speed
Feel free to post why you think so???
-
Grenadier.... One single Word: V E R S A T I L I TY . PE best starting unil poll 8)
-
PE start with a ketty not a PG squad.
I would vote recon squad for sure. I would've thought that would be pretty obvious that it's the best.
-
British Recon Section is the best start unit:
- 5 men squad
- can snipe if you have enough resources
- capture rate of 1 vs 0.75 of PE
- can build trenches
Recon squad is weaker than infantry section, but they fill they role well :D.
EDIT: This isn't gonna change my opinion but, Do you know the capture rate value of a ketten/schwim?
-
1.5 capture rate
-
Same opinion here guys, the recon section is fast moving large 1.5 capping speed and takes care of those pioneers or pe squads
P.S: By starting units i mean units which you start with or you can produce immediately without any further investment
-
Brit, definaly.
BTW Abhmkh, why you doing so much polls?
-
Seeme i expalined that in the TD post

Tommies capture rate is 1.0.
Nothing been said about the MP cost so I have to say that Tommies are the best (Just like Ostwind is better than a T-90). They also are cheap to reinforce and have defensive bonuses in buildings.
They need to be that way to defend their base untill a Stuart/Staghound/Cromwell (and maybe a BREN carrier vs a Piospam) shows up.
If counting MP cost I would say PGs are better becouse they are build in late game too (Tommies cost as much MP as a Firefly!), can repair, can be upgraded with the best weapons ingame. Even an upgrade for their capping speed and mine detection can be researched.
Both MP44 PGs and vet 2 grens cost less and will win a firefight with Tommies (even if Tommies have upgrades).
Tommies (and the whole British fraction) are the only starting unit that cant fight units in trenches so building them is a BIG risk. If a shreck team jumps inside a trench near youre HQ the game is over.

@Paciat
Wrong quote pal ;D! It's a paragraph below ;).
-
No one should pick pe because its not a starting unit!
-
PE starts with ketts and pg's who can be upgraded with g43 and thats it any infantry or upgrades are out of scope
-
No point of making a most versatile infantry poll if PGs won this pool.
A most versatile tank is T-34/85.
-
yeah but pg's can be turned only into specialist squads like mp44(ai) and shreck(at) , however a versatile infantry should be a combine package in one for instance rangers or stormtroopers or airborne, here the british commandos can be included but only if they pick up some at weapon like a bazooka or a shreck etc
-

Every unupgraded unit can pick up weapons. :P
Commandos get raped by MP44 and FG42. Theyre only good vs infantry targets (not vet 2 Grens and not PGs) and weapon crews.
-
When you give a PE panzer grenadier squad the g43 upgrade at the beginning of the game, they just sit back and drop any faction's infantry. Get them offensive vetted up and they're unbeatable!
-
I voted pioneers, because they are the best infantry in the game. Forget rangers, forget falls, forget knights cross. Piospam is the way to go!
....unless of course...you get instant-gibbed by those invisible commando demo charges... ::)
-
Akinghts cross holder can probaly take on 5 unvetted pioneers...
-
So here are the poll results
No one likes the engineers it seems..
Infantry section and Panzer Grenadiers have a tie..
followed by pioneers and ingenery....
