Title: KV-2
Post by: AbhMkh on July 12, 2010, 07:14:57 PM
The KV-2 is the third heavy soviet tank besides is-2 and isu-152 , its fire rate is mediocre and so is the armor,

The KV-2 fires some what similar to the churchill avre but has a poor fire rate and it cant be used as a frontline assault tank cuz of its armor

The KV2 needs a seperate thread..

How can the KV-2 be used effectively to make it worth its cost?

You can use KV-2 against buildings manned by the enemy troops or against infantry spam.
I saw that is also effective against light armour and some medium tanks (one shoot reduces by 50% StuG HP).

KV-2 is my 3rd favourite unit after Fallschirmjaeger and KT. It is the best base wrecker in the game, does massive damage to both tanks and infantry (assuming a hit) and has incredible suppression. It has masses of health too. Also, why do you think the armour's bad?

If youre asking about the way you can use KV-2, this topic shouldnt be in the soviet suggestion forum!

I've too noticed the same thing...Kv2's armour isn't one of the best in CoH...even the pak and panzershrek are very harmful to the shell.
But that's OK, with a best armour Kv2 is too strong. ;)

Its a Tank build in 1940. Its armor was 75mm thick while Churchill had 102mm.
Just like StuH it should be used with attack ground ability. Than it becomes a great blob killer. But it never was and will never be an ubertank.

I agree ... but I'm talking specifically about the game. :)
We all know that reality is something else. ;)

Its the best ingame blob killer.  8)
To me KV-2 is also much cooler than an IS-2 that has a gun range equal to 5 lengths of its gun. :D

Well i use the churchill avre for the same purpose, that is as a blob killer, however the kv2 is very slow in firing and it doesn't possess the armor to compensate for that , it can easily be outperformed by a ranged unit like a hetzer or a marder or the paks

Allthough i agree it deals a massive amount of damage to infantry at close ranges and the same to buildings, but i feel somehow that the kv2 works best on a map with a buildings in it,on open fields where ranged weapons can target the kv2 easily

The kv-1 has great amour, a pak can just about kill anything.

Well that would  seem to be the logical conclusion seeings how it is in the urban combat doctrine.

True :)

I agree, but does that mean,we can use it only on maps with a lot of buildings??

in that case its practically useless in non buildings maps, just like17 p emplacement is use less in urban maps :D

No, it's an excellent unit regardless. It just excels against buildings especially.

It fires faster than an AVRE. Im sure of that. It also has longer range. AVRE can also be easiely killed by any medium tank/mobile gun. (Exept PE PzIV)
You probably meant that the turret rotation speed is slow.

If no then pray tell me how to use it,i always end up losing the kv 2 when playing on open area maps

@Paciat what i meant was

1. It takes too much time fire on a specific target(thts in other words the turret rotation speed)

2. The time elapsed between two shots is large and its armor doesnt compensate for tht, u knw wht i mean??

Like the ISU-152 has a vpoor fire rate but has armor enough to take tank or at punishment, viz a viz the kv2 is not like that

And AVRE has an ammo cost of 35 every shoot  ;)

Use it with support. The suppression is borderline OP but I don't want it changed at all. It and some other units can utterly annihilate any sort of infantry force and then move on to take out the bunker. It is essentially just a much MUCH better AVRE that has suppression shells, so use it as such.

Just to prove its power, it just kill 1 KCH in shot, and killed 1 guy from the other one.
