After playing sveral skirmishes against the soviets I can tell that the soviet faction has two factors that makes the average Axis player go mad.
1.First of all, is that they can field outstading numbers of infantery in a relative short period of time. For example in the last skirmish, soviets got 4 conscrip squads plus command squad and 2 ingenery squads in the same time I got three pioneer squads, one volk squad and one bike.
2.Second, Fuel Costs.Early Soviet buildings doenst cost any which allow them to build a wide variety of troops way too fast and allows them to easily overpower the axis players. This issues is particulary evident with the tank hunters and mortars which (in high resources)can be fielded by the soviet player at the same time a wehr player is still fielding volks squads and bicycles.
Another to consider is that the IA is specially deadly with the soviets (the retreat bug doenst apply) and can overrun the wehrmacht from the very start.

You know its funny, i was actually thinking about this earlier and reached the same conclusion.
I was playing a game the other day and pretty much won within 10 mins by just spamming Ingenery and conscripts till i overran the entire map (It was impossible for the Germans to defend more than a handful of points, while i could strike anywhere at leisure). By that point i had so much fuel i could just spam t-34's and roll over the German base.
HOWEVER;
We still don't know what changes are in 1.2 and i suspect a significant amount of the balance problems with the Soviets will be rectified. This combined with the rebalancing of the original factions means we'll hopefully end up with a far more rounded and balanced experience.
Roll on 1.2 i say ;D

You can't make a subject in the balance forum and start with, "so I played some games against the AI and here are my thoughts."
You can't judge any sense of balance against AIs which have resource modifiers. Play against an easy AI if you're having trouble, which is the on the same footing as you.

In strict sense, you did ;D. Skirmish is a game between AI against humans, because you didn't especify what type of skirmish do you played(1vs1, 2vs2....) even if you choose Soviets and Wehr IA, the human intelligence is the real deal. He meant that if you councluded your first post involving the AI in some way, it's spoiled (Like finding the correct solution of an equation with the wrong method ;)). The match between humans only is called Basic Match.

Indeed I have played LAN matches with my brother and some friends and that is the reason of the post. My brother has turned into a soviet fanboy...Has won almost evey timed we played ::)

The soviet tier structure is just fine , iif there are any balance issues then they will be with the units , which i think will be resolved in 1.2 , the way the units are built is just fine , lots of infantry , thts essentially the soviet doctrine :P

Keep in mind, Ingenery and NKVDs have the wrong rifle in this patch meaning they're too good and that's a significant issue at the beginning....which is rectified in 1.2 along with many other things.
1.2 however has shaped up pretty well, meaning I only expect minor changes in future patches after this.
Deployment speed is currently very high for conscripts because they're easy to kill...and because they can't retreat and redeploy.
A single bike roaming the map can easily wipe out a conscript squad off on its own to cap

What do you mean that they have the wrong rifle??, what do you want to give them the svt 40?? , and are out of your mind (ingenery are too goood ) , they are the most shitty infantry in the game good for nothing except building , without upgrades

Before you go off on one however, you should really ask around...
Wrong weapon means they have a str10 weapon instead of a str7 which they had previously. Same goes for the NKVDs.
This means they chew up the equivalent WH Pios too easily and lent considerable more strength than they should when facing PE grens

Reminds me of tabletop Warhammer Strength vs Toughness. What he means to say is damage. 10 dmg vs 7 damage is a significant difference.
