Title: Hold ground button
Post by: maddnesscats on August 14, 2010, 01:21:41 PM
The Russians need a "hold ground" button so they don't move around in combat

The whole point of their charge is that dthey do it by themselves.

I agree with the opinion that EF doesn't need this.

It would be nice if conscripts didn't run out of couver early game. Why are you against this?

Cause they crazy random inexperienced people the red army gave guns to and told them to fight.

I wouldn't mind fixing the conscript AI but having a general "hold ground" button isn't what CoH is about.

When you buy the game, one of things they say on the box is "Soldiers seek their own cover!" How about we keep it like that.

Unfortunately the conscript AI tries to take cover by enemy soldiers. It usually doesn't work too well for them.

After all this time I've sort of gotten used to microing the squads back into cover when they randomly charge but it's still annoying.

Your right, major Ivan Delinko should teach his constipts that the enemy isn't very good cover.

I think concripts should be armed with oddball weapons like shotguns and old fashioned flintlocks with the odd WW2 rifle for a few of em.
just for show.

Where will they get there ammo for that?

I agree that it would be better if the AI could be fixed, but if it can't I don't see any thing wrong with being able to tell my men not to move, before I order it.

I don't understand what you mean with "it is not what CoH is about." I am not going to tell my men to hold a spot and than just leave them their, I just want them not to kill themself for no good reason.

Also to order your men to stay in couver every five second for no reason is not what CoH is about.

The issue is that 4/8 of the men have no rifles/weapons.
So they charge... to stike with their FISTS! :) (Melee).

The solution would be to give them invisible 0 dmg rifles.
This way, they'd behave normally, and it wouldn't change
 anything to the balance.

Or clips like in Enemy at the Gates :P. It would be like the flag bearer from Red Banner Strelky.

I think that without a 'hold ground' button, it makes the Russians less predictable, which is how i expect Russians to fight, unpredictable and crazy

Edit:I don't know what's the problem between Lord Rommel and you but this isn't the place for this kind of comments. Don't forget to keep in topic guys.

This also is NOT the place for racist/abusive comments, bullying, bigots and other 'forum trolls'. Trying to make such statements though pics/names/signatures is neither cool nor smart so please make sure you avoid it

Thread cleaned up, cheers

Now if you posted something like this, then at least that'd be funny
