You know what would be cool?.....would it be possible to make the soldiers in the Conscript unit who do not carry weapons, possibly "punch" or do some unarmed combat motion? Granted, it would barely do any damage, but at least they wont be useless...
Also, if the above idea is possible, would the DEVs be able to add some E-Tools (Entrenching Tools/Shovels) (Recieved at Vet1 or 2) which improve the damage given by the "unarmed conscripts"??

EF won't ever implement melee.

Its most likely impossible to code, nut it would be cool if the unarmed constipts could pick up dead soldiers weapons. It could be automatic when a constipt is right over it. Still it would be hard to make it work.

speaking of picking up weapons, does anyone know why the possibility of a German squad dropping their weapons, seems to have decreased? I almost never find lmgs or panzershreks on Ef. The Americans drop tons of stuff but not the Germans.

That was a fact not a thought, that decision was already taken some time ago, EF Team won't implement it. I don't think that is impossible, but they have other things to focus... coughOstcoughheercough.

I'm pretty sure only the LMG42 had a reduced chance to drop, down to 0.2. Remember that weapons are much less likely to drop when there is still squad weapon space, which is why I only ever get a single shrek on my gren squads. If you upgrade a squad with 2 shreks, they have a very good chance of dropping them (which I painfully experienced in one of the tourney games on my stormtroopers).

I think "passing" their rifles (like the bazookas, LMGs, etc) would be a better idea, there's nothing worse than having unarmed conscripts running around when their comrades are dead.

But I still wish that they would "meele" even if without animations. Same dmg as Mosin but only 5 max range.
I mean these constripts cost allmost as much as 2 squads of "trained" engies that can repair tanks, lay mines, lay down twice as much firepower as constripts.

idk, i mean i know it's a game but, sometimes i see firefights between guys face to face and they're at it for a good half a minute. O.o
how bad is their rifletraining?
I'm not talking about just conscripts i'm talking about all the factions basic infantry.
anyway, that's a big can of worms melee combat for CoH.
I mean if you want to take that route why not have infantry melee armour units? or soldiers jumping jeeps and motorbikes. chucking grenades down the access hatch of a tank or the like.
too damn long to make and keep it balanced i suspect.

No, just give them invisible 0-0 damage rifles with the same range as mosin-nagants. The AI is terrible and needs a fix.

can you imagine conscripts aiming with invisible rifle? OMG this will be pathetic. I personally believe, that it would be better to give all conscripts rifles, but decrease damage two times, so they would make the same damage, but look far better. NKVD upgrade would just increase this damage x2.

But then you lose the Soviet cinematic feel. Also, it wouldn't have an aim/firing animation if you gave them none. The would do exactly as they do now but not move anywhere.

Maybe when they punch they have a small chance to "Stun" The German squad.

No no no no no, soon conscripts will be able to throw tanks! The only problem now is the fact, that stupid conscripts charge! This must change, no stupid, unimplementable stunning melee or other weird abilities! Just make them doesn't charge!

I kinda like that they charge out front like Cannon Fodder. Unfortunatly the Volks and Pios tend to just aim for the riflemen which is really getting annoying. They should charge and just be there for cannon fodder or a good distraction while the Rifle armed troops just blast away. It would make more sense for their inclusion IMO.

Shhh the Soviet leaders don't know that.... Plus the Germans so liked killing the soviets that a few free weapon-less noobs with no combat training looks like easy picking, and then another, and another and hey look at that ze Germans overdosed on killing and went mad and the Russian soldiers just executed them. HOW FUN!!

The Wehr forces have enough honor to fight the armed ones first and later the others ;).

Here's how I say we fix it. You give them an invisible 'weapon' that does no damage and has no animations. This way, when they see an enemy, they'll simply get behind cover and face the enemy, but not do anything. (this is pretty much exactly what was described above)
Then make the actual rifles into special weapons with a drop-rate of 0, this way when a rifleman is killed, the rifle is passed down to the next man, replacing his 'nothing weapon' with a real weapon. (I said this awhile back but it doesn't seem to have been implemented)

Conscripts are a huge spam anyway , the guys without guns you just send in and let die who cares. They're mainly just an intimidating rush.

I care. I build Constripts to hold positions. If I wanted to loose a game I wouldnt need Constripts.

I agree, conscripts are alright troops when used properly.

I wouldn't trust them to guard a box of donuts, they'll get wiped out by the ants.
However, they are great for capping undefended points.
