Title: Should the RMC have its own Doctine tree/s?
Post by: GeneralDeath on February 13, 2011, 12:42:48 AM
the defencive british old tree is just too defensive for RMC maybe just make a new trees?
Elite Tank group
Specal Operations group
Hold the line group
(some ideas for names of new doc trees)
just an idea since its annoying to have old docs that are mainly defensive.

Royal Marines Commandos weren't made to be completely a new faction, that's why the doctrines are the same.

I understand that uou want to ruin the historical feel of the game. ::)

Anyway whats defensive in Commandos, AVRE or Priest? British support trees were created to boost offensive.
PE tactics trees are on the other hand mostly defensive becouse its an offensive fraction.

As we've previously said RMC were added in order to give the option of playing the Brits without some of the most hated 'core issues' people complained about.
There is no core issue with any of the doctrines and fit quite fine with RMC.
The only one I've ever really had an issue with was the late HQ commando glider...in 1v1 games. this doesn't really warrant further changes to the brits though, so you'll have to live with what Relic does with them in the next patch  :P

The entire RMC faction is a reward unit. Therefore, no separate doctrine tree. Not that it needs one  ;)

I pretty much agree with this Statement. The RMC doesn't need a separate doctrine tree. But inclusion of at least one doctrine might forward EF's development efforts.

From what I glean from Ostheer A6.0 Rizz's Aprilfools imbroglio was not such a red herring as most people think. Lots of good data in Ostheer A5.5 to chew on. We could only wish he had vetted that "mouse" crap=trap,  :D with Lord Rommel first. (and the igoogle translator /dictionary is so easy to use):

http://www.google.com/webmasters/igoogle/translate.html#source=tlha&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-sk&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=german%2Fenglish%20translator (http://www.google.com/webmasters/igoogle/translate.html#source=tlha&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-sk&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=german%2Fenglish%20translator)

Anyhow. I have been thinking about how the game mechanics of the doctrine trees work IE: RHT combat effective unit call-in when 4CP have been spent. The Ostheer 5.5A and 6.0A indicate Axis Minor Power Allies  are being considered for use in EF. The random squad call-in concept has some merit. Only the Italians have any unique and credible AFV's, (The Romanian Tanks < Pz3j (which is the neutral0 Ost MBT), and the proposed CP cost/buff obtained has not yet been fully thought through.

The Canadian faction thread is not  really viable  as a Faction, (not enough unique units to fill the roles); but: 1ssf Can\role airbourne; ghurka Ind\role death sqd ability: infiltration\sneak; Filipino Scout: role\Elite inf. scout; Legion Estrangee French?\ role: Elite CA=storm trooper ...... I'm sure you get the idea. The doctrine could be inserted in place of the intelligence doctrine. (I don't think there are enough players, sophisticated enough to appreciate or use this doctrine.

but they are only about 1 or 2 units away from being basically a totally new faction with the same command abilities. Eventually it would be cool after Ostheer to flesh them out and make them a full faction because all they need is a command tree and maybe 1 or 2 other differences and they would be a new faction. Like if you took out infantry built mg nests and mortar bunkers and just gave them Marine Mgs and Marine Mortars.
