So i just installed the latest patch.(1.30) Everytime its at the launcher, it tries to update but then says that the launcher has stopped working then i have to close it. I have it unblocked through firewall, and tried to use as administrator, but nothing works. I looked at the fixes but nothing helps.
Any help?? I am a computer noob when it comes to files and all that so if i dont understand, bear with me ;D

Did you install .NET Framework 3.5??
-
Im not sure. How do you check?
-
Check if it's installed on "Control Panel->Programs and Features".
-
Yes i do. Its called "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1" if thats the one ur talking about.
-
Do you have .NET Framework 2.0??
-
No, i cant find it. Where can i install it?
-
What type of OS your pc has?
.NET Framework 2.0 for 32 bits OS. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en)
.NET Framework 2.0 for 64 bits OS. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=B44A0000-ACF8-4FA1-AFFB-40E78D788B00)
-
Apperantly, it was already installed. Should've looked harder :) Still doesnt work though. What now?
-
... don't know what could be happening, could you post the log of the launcher? (located at Company of heroes directory\EF_Launcher_Log.txt)
I think you can try a couple of things:
- Make a new shorcut for Eastern Front like this: "C:\Games\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCoH.exe" -dev -mod Eastern_Front -nomovies
- Check in Company of Heroes directory\EF_Launcher_Config.ini and change the line Auto_Update=True to Auto_Update=False. Try to run the launcher again.
If you cannot download the updates using the launcher, you can get install them manually from here:

everything else doesnt work. >:(
-
... i guess you replaced "C:\Games\THQ\Company of Heroes\" with your own CoH directory...
Did you really changed Auto_Update=True to Auto_Update=False?
Reading the launcher log, you should be able to run it after changing that line.
-
Yea i just changed it to false. Still dont work... :'(

Now whenever i try to change it to false it says, "Cannot create the C:/Program Files (x86)/THQ/Company of Heroes/EF_launcher_Config.ini file Make sure the path and filename are correct." I cllick okay then i have to change the file name but each time i change it, it says that the filename exists then it says the "cannot create" stuff again.
-
Do you open the file with admin rights?
If that's your company of heroes directory, you can create a shorcut to run EF:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCoH.exe" -dev -mod Eastern_Front -nomovies
And it should run, unless you don't have CoH installed, but i don't think that's the case.
-
Can u give an explanation of what to do? How do i create that shortcut?
-
Go to your windows desktop and right click on it, then choose New->shorcut.
A window should prompt and ask you for details, paste this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCoH.exe" -dev -mod Eastern_Front
and click next, choose the name of the shorcut and finish the process.
-
Everytime i try to click next it says, "C:\Program" cannot be found.
-
Could you post an screenshot of your CoH Directory?
-
How do i post it? Sorry for all the questions :D

Also, i was thinking that maybe i cant run eastern front? (Graphic wise) Though i can run CoH on all medium settings very well.
-
If you cannot create the shorcut means that don't exists... that's why i need to see your directory. You need to have CoH installed and updated in order to run EF.
Also, needs to be installed on the same directory than CoH... so if you are using Steam, check the path before installing, otherwise never is going to run. Perhaps after reading this you realize that don't need to upload your screenshot, if not:
Open your CoH directory, hit PrtnScr, open paint, hit ctrl+v, save as jpg, upload it here on additional options.
-
It works ;D I uninstalled EF and put it in my steamapps folder. Before, i thought my CoH was in the steam folder not apps. Thanks for the help!

Don't forget to update your game, we have released 1.301 & 1.302 updates for now.
Enjoy EF! :)
