Title: BotB
Post by: cephalos on April 11, 2011, 11:56:49 PM
I enjoyed playing Battle of the Bulge mod recently. It seems that I'm good enough at compstomping, but there are no online pvp games to join. Is anyone here who is playing this mod and want to try pvp?
C'mon, lets play with snow!  :)

Lol, do you want snowmans or snowball fights? :P

I have installed this mod, but didn't play it frequently. If you want, I can join you for a game, but don't expect too much.  :)

I'm play this mod with OF & TOV versions.

They are different with combat intensiveness & tactical possibilities.
This is VERY interesting. (TOV concept with a quick points capture possibility is can be usefull for the EF ...)
Large mass of tanks & technics is very interesting & can be adapted for any tactics. One of the few best mods ... with a regret, high speed of the MP game makes a little interest for MP (PvP) games.
Sorry, i'm not interesting for PvP ...

Everything is possible with a good AI on your side..
Just let them do the job and you have time and ressources to produce a nice tank army. Was like this in my first skirmish with BotB.

oh, 2v2 and more... I often play 1v1 against Expert AI - quite fun, until they get 1st tank... panzerfausts FTW!  :D

Easy "build" 4-5 tanks or SA, 1-2 (usually 1) mobile artillery & couple infantri platoon(s) for support ... with a small map.

With AI ally ... quick cap key points & build a few defense points. Than, AI ally build few platoons for combat ... let them fight. Quick build a tank unit & fight.

In other mods i can not easy build a whole unit of tank force. I can only build a pair of armour support to help infantry to makes an near maneuverable combat actions.

My suggestion is makes double lower manpower cost to produse a combat units, slow the build time & makes a combats very hugh & massive ... whow it where on the eastern front. Units then is not buildable, all of them is calling like reinforcements. Basic units is accessible from the begin phase. Whole infantry, basick arour & basic tank units. Capture the basic points open possibility to call in heavy tanks. Artillery support is only accessible with combat units.

Half of that is present in BotB mod. But not all of this, with a regret.
And one small detail ... ANTI-tank infantry REALY dangerous.
A succesfully hold the forward line against 2-3 artillery & 2 tanks with an infantry support losing 2 SAU, but having 3 MG, 3 panzerfaust & 2 infantry. That was deadly hot, but i can counter-attack then.

Oh, yeah, AT infantry rocks in BotB and BK mod. Love to use Panzerfausts - they finally work as they should.

BUT! With a regret, AT guns works far from ideal ... panzerfaust, with a regret is most effective.

PzF should be, in fact a lot more effective, than AT, but it should be a short-range weapon only (that's, of course, not in game terms)

No, in BotB PzF fires from 10-15 meters maximum. One shot, one tank.

Most of armored units i meet in battles, been destroyed with only one shot. 2 or 3 where heavy ... "heavy" is offence by my "heavy" & panzerfaust or one Sd Kfz with at-gun & MG.

Battles was qwuick. After the middle of battle have a chance to begin a building heavy units.

My battlegroup usually consist of stable couple of units. Sometimes that group consist of light units from the defence line.
