My Tiger 1 rarely penetrated from the front. I played an American who spammed these along with AT guns for support I had trouble dealing with them even with level 3 Tiger + stug and stuhs. I dont think it reasonable for an artillery tank to basically have strong enough armor to shrug off 88mm shells.
-
Do you have the replay?
it has churchill armor and 1100 health. its gun is lackluster, I dont think its OP at all.
In reality its front armor thickness was that of a tiger tank.
-
It replaces the calliope, the best arty in the game. It damn well should shrug off a Tiger shot every now and then. I still don't use it and probably never will as long as it replaces callis.
-
Well, I've used Jumbos from time to time and they are quite effective.
It's a heavily armored, sluggish, close-range owning tank. It has AP rounds, it's main objective is AT. Why wouldn't it's armor be able to deflect shots now and then?
Though if it's consistently deflecting KT shots or Jagdtiger shots, we may have a legitimate balance problem.
Other than that I think the jumbo is fine.
Oh, and version tag ::)

It has churchill armor
-
That's what I'm saying...it's supposed to deflect shots...
What my point was is that if by some freak accident it's deflecting KT and Jagdtiger shots on a regular basis, then that might need to be fixed :P
-
Version tags or I'll lock this :).

It had better armor than the Tiger while now it only has Churchills armor. Both its gun and armor are much weaker than the 88.

+1
It's supposed to be a close range tank killer, emphasizing on it's loss of power at long range due to the explosive type of shell. It still packs a punch but at short range it excels.
Just lock this blackbishop, no version tag in sight :P
-
How about if a mod just adds the version tag instead of posting that he'll lock this thread if there will no version tag be added?
-
Because of the plain warning that's at the top of the Balance Discussion forums made by BurroDiablo. You should read it before posting and clearly states you have to post version tags.

sorry I should read guidelines.
I suppose I didn't realize it is suppose to be a close range anti tank. I thought it was suppose to be mobile artillery. Maybe fighting it with tanks wasn't smart then. Sorry I am just not that familiar with the Jumbo Sherman should have researched it more before complaining.
If it is meant to take out tanks then its armor is appropriate, if not then maybe it should be looked into.

+1 Albeit I find it an interesting/worthy enough unit to play around with. Certainly gives you the prospect as an armour commander to slug it out even better with axis armour
I think it may it have an active penetration reduction making it a tougher prospect than a churchill, but its too be expected from a tank replacing the infamous, game changing, Cali (which as Denis said is by far the best arty in game, mobile and hard to kill). In short, there is no balance concern really for this unit

That being said, there's no need to continue discussing this idea.

Because we have no idea if people are using the latest version or not, we may be mods/devs, doesn't make us clairvoyant mind readers.
