Title: [Obsolete] Eastern Berlin
Post by: Mattdamon07 on May 22, 2011, 10:00:04 AM
Updated: I removed that townhall thing and replaced with ruins. Added some Action markers with Fx effects. Editted some ruins and debris. Removed some buildings or made them un-garrisonable

Why do you want to remake Berlin?

Anyway, these pictures are positively fantastic! You should totally become an official mapper.

I would say that this map should be included under the name "Berlin Eastern Outskirts" or "Berlin East".

P.S. remove the building with the flags that's a building out of a mission and if you upgrade it to barracks you'll be able to build strange & buggy units. Also the 6th screenshot looks a little bit clear and the ground has only one texture.

At all the maps looks really good. *thumbs up*

Isn't this a remake of your earlier post?  ::)

@Cranialwizard: It is.

@Mattdmaon07: I have to agree with walki and want to add something.
The atmosphere is nice, though some things are a bit unrealistic. The ground texture on the 6th picture doesn't fit the substance of the buildings. When it's a rubble texture that you used for the ground there, you should at least add some damage to the buildings around it. It is pretty easy to paint your ground with the tile tool, but it doesn't look that good. Try using more more more splats instead of these boring tiles, that would make your map a lot better.
I remember Berlin to have witnessed heavy bombings and artillery strikes. On your map it looks kind of idyllic. If you don't know how to add damage to buildings, just ask. I'd even like to see some ruines there, lots of rubble and collapsed buldings, making Berlin a predestroyed, fortified heap of stones.
Don't take this criticism negativ, it is my suggestion of how to improve your map to keep up with better, or even the best ones. Respect for your good work, mate :)

ok pls quote the unrealistic picstures and others so i can change anyway thx guys. the other berlin map i might still release.
that building i edited it and changed the building varition from normal to fancy. but i can remove anyway.
i will ad more rubble and wrecks.
for the tiles i can going put spats over them. i just did that tile for the stone road to look good. the sixth picture i havent finshed yet i will add rubble and stone there with some debris.

i would like to become an offical mapper but the problem is TIME its really bugs me if i were to my maps would take long to finish.
Btw the map will be huge.

P.S the name u suggested would be nice

Post Merge: May 23, 2011, 09:21:49 AM

Offical mapper means that you'll probably also work on the campaign

What do I need then for becoming an official mapper?

that's why we need 'community mapper' badg.... oh, I've already told that  :P

I don't see any problem in mapping, I have spare time. The only thing I must learn for now is how to make this ^&(&*%*&^ loading screen, because I can't find any tutorial.

Your screen shots are lovely. The Concept is grand. After four and a half years of nighttime terror bombing by the RAF some, (many? most?) neighborhoods would be in ruins. Maybe two or three idyllic neighborhoods that escaped the bombing would serve to make the concept more effective? Very nice work. When EF is finished Your Concept would be Marvelous for a Paris map.

a few neighborhoods that will be not very damaged will be in a some radius in the centre. But not sure about a paris map maybe the centre would but i dont think paris witnessed any heavy bombing or thing s alike.

Did the original mapper ever upload a beta of the map anywhere? why not just pull the map file out and finish what was already started?

yes thats true, this is my first map so i am studying other maps and keep on editing my own to look more proffesional. Anyway i would say my map is around 47% complete, it's slow progress cause im not putting my full potentional at it, but i have been working on it more often in the last 2 weeks :)
