Title: World of Tanks - EF
Post by: Dominic 'Dragon' Cassidy on June 05, 2011, 06:50:41 PM
World of Tanks is an awesome game so thought I'd make a thread for people to post their ingame usernames and levels of tanks.
Hopefully get some platooning on the go - plus find people to add.

Also, please vote in the poll whether you'd be interested in an EF Company so that we might put Russia in the right hands ;)

Dragon93 - T-34 (Lvl5), SU-85B (Lvl4), Wespe (Lvl3) - All fully upgraded except radio's and next tanks (plus the 85s for the Soviet tanks).

Should I join the American server group, the European server group, or doesn't it matter?
Title: Re: World of Tanks - EF

If you live in Europe join in EU, Russians join in RUS, Yankees in USA servers.

Don't join in a different server of your living place if you don't wanna play with a very big lagg!  ;)

I meant specifically in the case of joining a clan. In other words: can people from different server groups play together (I remember that they couldn't in WoW).

World of Tanks, i hate it. I was plaing this in past, i had hummel, wespe, pz III, pz IV, pz II, pz VI tiger, leopard, etc. Now they "released" game and all accounts, including mine, have been reset. Now me, my friends are not plaing this shit anymore. And gold, now i have to paid real money to get some gold. For that reason I can not have a premium, so in end of battle, i'd have losses in kredits.

Same for me...during Beta my Ferdinand was a f*****g badass who kicks all Maus butts!  :D

Now I play for fun since about 2028 when I will have GW Panther. :P

No, you shouldn't.

I was a closed beta tester and I didn't revive my Sherman because I had 950 some games. I even like pointed out 2 bugs and they don't say I help. Plus there ads are really annoying.

I'll would join, just don't expect me to do anything amazing with a Pz 3 (with the 75mm gun it bounces right off of T1s  :'( ).

Edit: I got the Pz 4 with the KwK 43 L/70 7.5cm gun and Pantherturm
(Lord Rommel?) so if a clan was made I'd be quite more effective.

If i good remember, in WoT will be more tanks (french fraction), that mean more resets. I know that in past were maybe 3 resets (or more). And for that reason i don't play this game anymore, like my friends... But now is full version, so maybe there will be not more resets, but i don't know.

Since the game has been released and they're selling retail versions here in the US it really doesn't look like they would try and pull something like that.

Nah they won't do anymore resets since its a released game. Imagine if there was a reset in WoW everytime they released an expansion. All it would result in is losing LOTS of players.

I'm have financial problems with my panther, I make little to no money, and repairs cost so f'ing much. I got a VKDB sitting around to make money, but it's just not enough. I'm considering downgrading to a cheaper to run Panzer IV with L/70 7.5 cm gun, but I'm just not sure.

Need some advice from all you World of Tanks players, (anyone else besides Moonwalker?) Thanks!

P.S. I have 10 days of Premium left so take that into account.

Might get back into WoT again. I quit because of Uni work, think I managed to get myself to an SU-85 but the grinding was really cutting into my work time. I might restart for heavy tanks and try to work up to an IS-2... I remember having fun times with the T-28 during the Beta, then being really disappointed with the gay slow uselessness of the KV-1.

Post Merge: July 16, 2011, 03:25:09 AM
5 hours of playing and I can't be assed with WoT anymore. The game has somehow lost its appeal... probably all the grinding and money grubbing with the looming threat of a hard wipe somewhere in the distance.

Getting a premium account will allow you to more easily afford those top tier tanks. If not then play a tank with high credit returns like a Panzer IV or a Churchill.

KV's are good when you give them the really long gun (I cant remember what one it is but its like a tier VII gun or something). Also any rumors of another hard wipe are false. Since the game is released there is no point in wiping people's accounts, wargaming.net would just lose players. Imagine if they wiped peoples accounts on WoW. No one would play it. And money grubbing? seriously? people should be supporting this game.

I also was disapointed by KV-1 (to me best looking Soviet tank ever). I got T-28 with F-30 85mm gun and wanted to use it in KV... but I have to buy a whole new tank. >:( I hope that KV-Is will be faster. But Kursk anniversary (x2 earned silver and less than 50% cost for tanks that fought there) was a great suprise. 8)

Since the game is released there is no point in wiping people's accounts, wargaming.net would just lose players. Imagine if they wiped peoples accounts on WoW. No one would play it.

WoW is a little different since PvP is a small part. WoT is PvP only and I can't see the game continuing for a few years without a soft wipe (I meant soft wipe). As people leave as many have done already, the ratio of Medium-Heavy Tanks to Light tanks will become very unbalanced making it exceedingly difficult for newer players to get their foot in door without having to wait 4-5 minutes to join a game.

And money grubbing? seriously? people should be supporting this game.

I'm not going to tell people what they can or cannot do with their own money, but I tend to like to buy something and then have it. If I had bought WoT in a shop for £30 (which I probably would have) and had access to everything forever, I'd be happy with that... but that's not how WoT operates and that's not how I operate.

I have to agree with Burro. I dislike microtransactions. I want the full game for an upfront cost. Hidden future costs aren't really my thing.

One thing that bothers me is that I cant get any British made tanks for free and there is no Cromwell ingame (top speed 64km/h). :(

I dont think there is a British faction mate :P. Thats probably why theres a slight lack of Brit tanks. IDK about everyone else but I recent tried this game out and I was getting destroyed every single f@#king match. Can someone help me? Every time I try to engage the enemy I get blown up by Panzer II's or those freaking Russian tanks (BT I think)

1) Not necessairly

2) Yes, you must download it and install it, but it's all Auto, updates too.

3) Yes, but if you want good tank you must pay...without Premium Account (about 10€/months) you can't get Tanks over Tier 5 (for example Panzer IV).

4) No

3) well, not precisely. You can play a lot, and tech to Panther or Tiger II without spending 1$.

3) well, not precisely. You can play a lot, and tech to Panther or Tiger II without spending 1$.

But you're forced to play perfectly every game (absolutely impossible).
Sometimes in my bad game with JagdPanzer IV (Tier 6) I lose some credits for ammo and repairs.

Moreover you need YEARS to gain enought EXP to unlock a Tiger II or other high Tiers tanks.

MY clan mate has lost about 200k credits in 2 days without Premium Account with a Tier 9 tank.

My in game name is xXDr_RockzoXx
I just Started not that long ago and my highest tier is a Tier 5 StuGIII thats I use as a StuH 42, which can rape smaller tanks (like the T-28 or SPGs) in a single shot. I dont consider myself to be a great player but that might just be because Im my largest critic.
Title: Re: World of Tanks - EF
Post by: Desert_Fox on August 25, 2011, 12:32:42 PM
StuG III is fun to use.  :)
But be careful because the game can put you in games too hard for you against tanks like IS-3, Tiger II etc...
Moreover the 105 mm is very good against max Tier V tanks but it hasn't a good accuracy on long distances; my advice is going for the 75 mm long cannon.  ;)

Post by: cephalos on August 25, 2011, 01:10:58 PM
who said that accuracy is needed? I'm racing forward, and shoot from about 30 meters  ;D the effect is incredible, using only HE shells. Once I 1-shoot KV from the side  :D and with support ( like Tigers etc) mostly enemy TDs focus on killing those big buddies, while I deal huge damage. Real fun is when I play with my mate, who has StuH too :P this is insane weapon...  ;D

Post by: DrRockzo1986 on August 26, 2011, 11:30:40 PM
Lol I just got done playing on the map "Steppes" and I got 7 kills with my StuH 42 firing all the way from our base to theirs, so accuracy isnt so bad. I believe I managed to get into a tier IV-V match which made it easier.

And yes 105 with HE shells is amazing, to be honest I havent used the regular shells with it so IDK the difference.

This is the map of the Clan Wars:

http://uc.worldoftanks.eu/uc/clanwars/maps/earth/reg_01/ (http://uc.worldoftanks.eu/uc/clanwars/maps/earth/reg_01/)ù

All the clans on the map has Tier X tanks and they're Pro Clans with hundreds of members online 24h/7d for skill tanks.
These are the real CWs.

But there's also Clan 4 Fun where you can join easly if you haven't Premium and you can challenge other Clan 4F in Tank Companies or other pbattles with lower levels.

+1

Even if I have a bad game with my Hetzer, I lose credits sometimes. BTW something that annoys me:
In half the cases I'm put in a random game with Tigers and Jagdpanthers and ISs and such stuff and my little Hetzer can't do anything but wait for a SPGs :(

Title: Re: World of Tanks - EF

TDs are cheaper than tanks (I'm talkin' about repairs after a battle), especially heavies.
I start to lose some credits (still without Premium at the time) with Jagdpanzer IV.
SPGs are a good way for earn credits.

About game balance, yes, sometimes happen to finish in some impossible games with tanks more powerfull than you. That happen from about level V for tanks (except light, for scouting) and IV for TDs.

Gold tanks are good for credits, but people dont really want to spend money to buy a tank.

The only very good Premium tanks are Lowe and KV-5 (more Lowe than KV-5), the others are simply rubbish.
But Lowe costs 12.500 Gold = 50€

Yeah but just for shits and giggles I bought a Lend Lease Churchill. Its slow and has a weak gun, but If you know its limitation its not a bad tank plus it has a 30 rnd/pm reload time which is good. The most I raked in from one match was 24,000 credits which as far as I know is good.

oh i've played WoT a bit but i've stopped atm because the matchmaking is still not fixed and i got sick of doing the fights over the same maps with very few goals, kill enemy or capture base :(.

don't get me wrong it's great fun to play when the matchmaking is roughly even and the teams are relatively competant, there have been a few times i've felt really elated with playing and others where i was ready to stop altogether. i might check in later see what the french tanks are like.

Ok. How do you do skins for WOT?
Title: Re: World of Tanks - EF
Post by: DrRockzo1986 on November 30, 2011, 02:08:32 PM
Its surprisingly easy all you have to do is download GIMP 2 (or use photoshop) and intall the right plugin for the WoT files. From there you just open the tanks main skin file from the wot/res/vehicles  folder and go to work applying camo or whatever you want on your tank. Unfortunately beacause the skin files are universal, all tanks of the same kind will have the same skin so there is no way to make your tank different from others of the same kind.

If you decide to skin remember to back up your files before you start just in case.

If you'd rather just download skin the site below is best plus it has some further reading on how to skin.

In 7.0 there will be skins for tanks but for credits (period of time) or gold (forever). I have skins from this site but i think that won't work in new version.

BTW i am again playing WoT. M10 is great :D.

Fuck the uglehh hellcat shit :\
Sturer Emil all the wayyy !!!
Can't wait to take a ride on that monster and if it has the historically correct 128/61 gun,it's going to be some epic shizz !!
But still it's an open tank it might have reduced armor  :-\
But that's all in sake of firepower   ;D

So,i am going for my 2nd favorite tank in german tech tree  The Tiger tank
But since i saw the Tiger P ( i fell in love with him at the 1st look),awesome tank and when i saw his 200mm armor with a long 88 gun even more epic
But i am not shure wich one to take, the normal one or the P one
So give me your opinion !?

He made a custom skin for Tiger (tiger ace's skin), a even longer than already pretty long 88 gun, a custom tread. Also that Tiger had additional small plates on both side of the front. That all I saw.

AND I THINK I GONNA BEG FOR THAT SKIN!!! (Still own an elite Tiger for it).

I think most of you know this, but there is a new world of tanks coming but with airplanes :>
http://na.worldofwarplanes.com/

Might be fun. I liked the whole idea of world of tanks but it easily got boring and SADLY didnt potrait tank warfare in a realistic challange way..
( everybody driving around like crazy non stop firing with tanks that IRL were famous because they couldnt shoot and move at the same time -__- )

This however seems a little bit,, More realistic? I know I know, Giant dog fights with like 200 planes swarming around each other aint really realistic. But the combat itself might be more correct :D

(And we got all these jet prototype planes, Oohh sexy <3)

I have 15 tanks total, so I'll only list off my "keepers" (Tanks I have no intention of ever selling):
Stug3 (Tier5), Pz3 (T4), KV-1 (T5), SU-Churchill (T5).

Just unlocked the Tiger1 yesterday... Need 1.3mil credits to buy it though...
