Now that EF has a deployable MG, (M1910 8) ), available for all doctrines; My wish list is reduced to Armored Cars. The lack of Lt Rcce for the Soviets is deplorable. Both the Command squad and Sharpshooter team have limited rcce capabilities. Fast moving rcce is not available to the Sovs! Either a BA64 or BA10 8) , would be fine. Combat effectiveness is not so much an issue, equivalence to PE SC performance would be OK. "Forewarned is Forearmed" Is this a balance issue?

No this is not a balance issue. Soviets get an awesome spotter unit that doubles as one of their most powerful squads from the start of the game. He has a ridiculously large detection radius for stealth as well. Sharpshooters in observer mode have a massive LoS. Urban will soon receive a recon ability. Partisans and the sniper ace are excellent spotters. The light tanks essentially fill the role of ACs.
Soviets have no shortage of recon.

Dennis covered it.

Totally agree with GodlikeDennis.
-
I like armored cars but Soviet light tanks are great!!! A far better unit, look Brits use Stuart LIGHT TANK as an armored car :D

A recon ability? Is it for the Partisans or is it a Recon Plane type of thing?
-
It's of a different kind. Something new. You will see it in time.
-
Similar to halftracks, i think armored cars are unnecessary.

Unless that time is within this coming week, then i won't cause I'm going to the deep mountains of Pennsylvania, where i have limited Internet and no CoH. Oh well, maybe when i get back then......
-
I think it's kinda final at this point so I guess I can say what it is. It's an off-map flare ability like that of Blitz doctrine in CoH:O. It makes units within it take more damage and reveals the map (not stealth).
-
aww I was hoping Ostheer would get an ability like that, but I like it.
T-70 and T-90 are cheap enough that an AC would have to be cheaper than them that it would be so cheap it would have to suck at everything but sight. Although I hate both of these tanks and would rather have a AC instead of both of them I think its not that big a deal to worry about it. I only see a t-70 1 out of 75 games and the t-90 causes more fear and panic than actual damage and it looks kind of like something out of C&C.
-
Hmm, I like it Dennis, its a really cool idea. But do just the opponent's units take more damage in it or yours as well?
-
Does it replace anything?
-
nothing is lost

nothing is lost
Err... ::)

Don't go off-topic guys ;D... this is about soviet ACs :).
-
Hi guys! I've looked at your comments on balance.
- I tend to agree with you that the Sovs can come up with many counters to cover the lack of all those wonderful AC's in the Soviet TO&E. Seems like a shame to consign them to oblivion because they a just "historical and not a game" though.
- @GlD. Lumping the infantry recce types into the argument doesn't hunt on the larger wide open maps like Prokorovka. It can take an infantry group 5 minutes to march, not infiltrate across the map. I don't think a 5 minute G2 lag for the Sovs is really balanced do you?
- @vonklaus: PE: Ket, SC, AC, Funk, IHT IIRC are all cheaper and faster than the T70/T90 series and not OP in any way.
@neodark Have a good time on your holiday. If you will be in the vicinity of THe forks of the Juniata and Susquehanna Send me a PM. The bandwidth limitations in the boondocks of PA are an OBamanation. (one of his campaign promises was broadband in every home). Alas it will probably be a broken promise.
The illumination flares would be a great idea as an active mortar ability. Sorry BlackBishop.
