Title: Eastern Front Campaign
Post by: Paladin88 on June 17, 2011, 02:55:26 AM
I know that this has already been discussed but wouldn't it be cool if we could for once have a Co-op campaign? I was going to suggest an adversarial campaign as well but I know thats not gonna happen so I suggest Co-op. Since many people here play with friends online why not have a Campaign online too?

I don't think that's ever been done before, I'm not even sure if that's possible!  :o

I suppose you could do MP Maps...but it wouldn't be the same.

Yeah, if it is possible, it would take a fuckload of work. Personally, i don't think it's worth it.

I know someone who is interested in scar coding. Coding is his hobby, so he could work many hours doing coding stuff. Currently, he is busy doing other things but then, I planned something with him. I'll do the mapping work while he is coding the missions. Don't know if it'll work out though.

Uh there will be some coop campagins. I think it was already written on the wiki which is now down :P.

I think it would also be able to make all SP maps to coop but this would take a lot of time.

But i can play there maps alone, yes? Coop is great idea anyway, i hope that it'll not bugged.

I only can say that there are finished pieces and some which are at 60% from my side but I'm not the only campagin mapper.

As it said here, the Americans had an alliance with Germany, after they discovered the they hated France too for some reason, which made Italy mad because America stole their pizza recipe. So Italy Allied up with Turkey to beat up Germany when Stalin got hungry and Ordered an attack on Turkey to get some food. After that, all the turkey got cold, which started the cold war.
Sweden Managed to win.

So based on that, I think South Africas Gonna win!

Back to the topic: No I don't think I'm allowed to tell you anything about the campaign nor the coop campagins but the only hint I can give is that it's not the "classic" campagin order like in other WW2 games.

It's been stated many times that the Soviets won't get a transport vehicle, because it doesn't fit their play style.

I still dream about soviet having a transport vehicle no matter if has capacity for one squad, cannot reinforce and is unarmed :(. It would help on big maps.

well you can drive it to the front and then retreat all infantry to it....i have done it a few times. it can help to get past fortified enemy lines. like british captain

infantry will continue to retreat to the truck even if its destroyed  ;)

The only thing Captains are good for is teching to tanks. THAT'S IT! Admittedly, Victor Target can come in handy, but it will most likely get the Cappy killed. And his defensive bonuses are so useless... ::)

What if you buy another 1? Do they go to the closest?

It doesn't matter if ZiS-5 is destroyed or just change it's position, the infantry will run where the truck used to be located and that cannot be changed :P.

The retreating troops cannot be ordered to retreat to the new build zis. They will bravely run to the wrecked zis.

nah, once you hit the retreat button, no one can control the squad until the retreat effect worns off.
Title: Re: Eastern Front Campaign
Post by: pariah on July 21, 2011, 10:38:40 PM
Whether they can stop or change the retreat i don't know, but i have noticed them starting upgrades on retreating squads, so they have some control over them. ;)
Title: Re: Eastern Front Campaign
Post by: Blackbishop on July 21, 2011, 11:02:49 PM
You cannot control those entities in the process so, they start the upgrades before the retreat is activated. The upgrades will be researched while the squad is retreating.

Besides, you can't know if they start upgrades while retreating because you cannot select them either ;D.
Title: Re: Eastern Front Campaign
Post by: pariah on July 21, 2011, 11:10:16 PM
I've seen enemy units retreating in recorded games from their perspective, and they sometimes get back to base with an upgrade part-way done. Remember that the A.I. doesn't have to select its units to give them orders. ;)

Woah woah mate, no. No insulting the Cpt. His defensive bonuses are immense. With a vet2 captain in the friendly sector you're basically immune to suppression. You also take FAR less damage. Vet 3 gives extra resources so you spam even more FOOs and victor target basically doubles your arty's rate of fire.

Title: Re: Eastern Front Campaign
Post by: Max 'DonXavi' von B. on August 13, 2011, 02:11:46 PM
Actually no. It just doesn't foreclose the possibility of more than one campaign. You won't get any useful information about the campaigns because that's top secret ;)
If I would have written "campaigns" instead of "campaign(s)", you would have been right, but in this case no.

Title: Re: Eastern Front Campaign
Post by: neosdark on August 16, 2011, 05:09:51 PM
Well I'm sure the Drache helicopter was used in limited roles as VIP and soldier transport as well as MASH type operations as well, but there weren't nearly enough of them nor time in the war for them to make a difference.

Given a few years I'm sure Hitler would have demanded they put a Tank cannon on it and I'm sure the Nazi Designers would figure out someway of doing that

Nazi's loved their rocket pods late in the war. I think they'd actually be pretty effective TBH.
