O.K., so it came up with a thing telling me to activate Windows, but it wouldn't let me for some stupid reason. Here is a picture. Could somebody please tell me what the fuck i'm supposed to do?! THIS IS REALLY FUCKING PISSING ME OFF!! >:( >:(

simple
there a versions for windows that need a previous windows. This windows will be upgraded then. Seems that your key is only for an upgrade not for a new installation
-
Well, i don't know what the fuck that means... What am i supposed to do now!?!!?

You are now using Win7 right?
Then you have to install a previous windows like xp or vista
or you purchase a new key
IF you buyed a Win7 version that was NOT for upgrade than contact support.

I have been using Vista for ages, but now finally got 7 installed on my new harddrive. I see no fucking reason for me to need to install an older O.S.... ::)

omg is it so hard?
install your old vista on your new drive
than update your OS with your key (there should be a DVD with install files, when not where the heck did you get that key from?)
-
But i'd have to uninstall 7, and i only just managed install the fucking thing after all these months!
-
True, if you try to install Vista on your new drive it won't let you because you have a newer OS (my guess).
Believe me, is easier to upgrade to 7 (install vista then run windows 7 install) than install 7 from scratch (it's easy in both ways but is easier in using the former than the latter).
-
Well, i'd have to install Vista again, and then 7, so it's not really any easier...
-
It is easy. I installed windows XP then windows 7 to make a dual boot without problems, the drivers are a pain however win7 has them all, now to install Vista to upgrade to 7 is easy too don't know where the difficulty lies.
Installing windows = following instructions on the monitor :).
Remember that you can fail installing windows and nothing bad would happen, just try again and that's all. You will not break your drive just because you installed windows incorrectly :P.
Imagine if you would need to compile the code in windows' console before installing a new Windows version...

I'm not saying it's hard to do; I'm just saying that it's easier to just install 7, rather than install Vista and then upgrade to 7.
