v1.4.0 Line of Sight Rules
  • How do weather conditions and time of day impact line of sight?
  • Is there a relationship to smoke LOS with Weather/Time of Day or are these different game mechanics?
The weather effects only unit voices. Nothing else.

Really? I never knew that. How does Snow/Rain affect voices?

There is no snow in standard Company Of Heroes, so the snow doesn't affect anything.

Stormy weather is good for listening to unit voices.

"When I was a child I used to play in thunderstorms like this!"

"Now it's a true lightning war!"

PE infantry
"Forget your barracks assault grenadiers, the rain will keep you fresh."
"When I was a kid I used to run into any thunderstorm I could find." ;D

"I ordered this rain especially for you deinhard"
"Thunder lighting, guns steel I LOVE IT!"
I enjoys the weird things the PE factions says ^^

i really like the little sayings the units say but i feel this is missing from the russians as i dont know what they mean when they say things and it makes the units that little bit more boreing

If Im correct they say similar things to vCOH infantry. So just image a Russian rifleman and what he would say in the rain ^^. I guess the fact they speak Russian makes them unique but confusing.

My favourite is the Wirbelwind: "Rain... open-topped tank... f**king great engineering."

They also have some rather abusive comments if you repeatedly click on them.

Hahaha  ;D

Anyway I don't think the weather hasn't any effect on the game.
I remember that during a game I've shot the smoke mortar barriage, and the rain canceled it immedatly; the smoke has been active for about 2-3 seconds.

Does the rain have other effects you'all are aware of? Does it effect incendiaries for example, (It shouldn't but we are not talking about simulation here)?

I dont think it does. I threw a PE incindery grenade at a building, later a trench, and it still burned. I think the weathers just for show and drama ;D

Phosphor even burns in rainy conditions.

The weather conditions don't affect any stats or abilities. They are just for show and to change unit voices.
