Title: Imperial Japanese Army
Post by: mixas on July 10, 2011, 05:25:48 PM
hi gus. From the arrrival of the russian faction ive been thinking a lot about new armies of the axis alliance not just germans you know!i think the Imperial Japanese Army which played a tremendous role in ww2 is perfect to add variety on this mod.i already know you are mostly negative on this one BUT there is a solution for almost everything.COH IS a ground based game. But there are lots of places to the pacific like iwo jima where there is almost no jungle and the beaches or this mountain  on this island would be perfect for mapping.;DMoreover ive made a plan of this army as a fist view in coh

1.the general style of the japs should be similar to the soviets meaning less production time and reinforcing ,less resource cost but low inf skills. The only difference is that japs do NOT lack equipment which was sufficient for all troops.Remebmer that japan had 5.500.000 soldiers at 1945 !

2.construction should be devided into 5 buildings:HQ which will be not as high as the other hqs plus it will be stationary.Form your hq you can create engineers  consisting of 4 squad members , barraks from where you can create rifleman sections consisting of 6 squad members and officer squads (4 squad memebers) which will give a bonus to nearby troops when veteracy is gained, the armoury from where you can modernise your weaponry and evolve your at guns for example, the weapons team support center from where you can call in weapon teams like mgs and mortars(4 squad members at each weapon team) plus halftracks and the tank depot from where you can call in you heavy/light tanks .Tank depot will be constuctable when both barracks and weapons team support center is completed. At the armoury you can purchase upgrades for your infantymen and evolve your equipment ant tanks:type 95 HA-GO = makes available Ta-Se AA tank when upgrade is competed and type5 HO-RU which is a tank destroyer, type 97 CHI-HA=type 1 CHI-HE which monts a better cannon with greater velocity and better armor. So these where only some examlpes of the use from the armoury.Upgraded vechicles can be Consructed from the Tank Depot. All Japanese buildings will be like tents and covered by leaves which gives them a unique style.

3.doctrines
the names where not my specialization but i believe the abilities are just remarkable!

1.IMPERIAL DEFENSIVE DOCTRINE

1cp.trench consrtuction            2cp.naval artillery support(150 muni)

2cp.modernisation                           2cp.type5 15 cm cannon
repalce the type 94 at cannon to     for AT as well as AA protection
type 1 at cannon

3cp.recruitement                           3.cp type 4 HO-ro
replace all causalties                      self propelled howitzer

2.IMPERIAL INFANTRY DOCTRINE

2cp.fanatism                               3cp.infiltrators
units now receine now suppresion     call in a unit (4 members) of
and have a damage bonus but          highly skilled emperial army
less self protection                         soldiers

2cp.bayonetts                            1cp.traps
receive a damage bonus when        all infantry units are now ready
fighting from close range                to place traps anywhere on map

2cp.camouflage                            3cp.sniper warfare
all infantry units can now                inflitrate a highly skilled
camouflage when in cover               sharpshooter

3.IMPERIAL TANK DOCTRINE

2cp.tank camouflage                     4cp.type 5 CHI-RI medium tank
all tanks can now camouflage         an evolved tank able to match
when stationary                           the efiicienty of shermans

2cp.kamikazee attack                    1cp.advanced repairs
call in a kamikazee pilot to the         all engineers are now able
designated area  100 muni               to repair quicker

3cp.air support                             4CP.O-I superheavy tank
a squadron of zeroes bomb the        call in a heavy tank which is
targeted area 250 muni                   very well armed and armored

well gys thats a fisrt look on how japanese army could be.i know there are lots of failures but this army IS buildable and suitable for COH

Why would the Eastern Front developers add a Japanese army? After all:
Sorry to disappoint you mate, but no Japanese Army on the Eastern Front.  :-\
And you can't use the Reward Brits as an excuse, because they needed fixing, anyway. ;)

@ Pariah: 1. Kolkan Gol. 2.They could do a better job of it than most.
@ mixas: If it was somehow possible to sidetrack the devTeam "Winter War 1940" would be a much better topic for a future mod. Unfortunately it require a completely new TO&E for Soviet Tankovy alone. Looking at your proposal objectively;Keep thinking.  :)

I like the idea of adding the IJA, but the EF developers already got a lot on their plate. It's taking like 3-4 years for Eastern Front correct? Maybe after the Ostheer is released, some of them want to take a break. At the moment the only content I'm willing to download, will either only be from Relic or the Eastern Front developers. It's all about quality.

Unless Relic itself, has a plan to release an expansion or come out with a COH 2, any hopes for content on the Pacific War or North Africa or whatever, is a pipe dream.

lol, every time I see topics like " finland" or " japan" I find them as useful as " let's add a Maus" topics.

Na we need a E-100 in the Ostheer! That would be at least the same historical accuracy like adding the IS3  :P

It was the first victory forGeorgy Zhukov, earning him the first of his four Hero of the Soviet Union awards. Zhukov himself was promoted and transferred west to the Kiev district. The battle experience gained by Zhukov was put to good use in December 1941 at the Battle of Moscow. Zhukov was able to use this experience to launch the first successful Soviet counteroffensive against the German invasion of 1941. Many units of the Siberian and other trans-Ural armies were part of this attack... A year after flinging the Germans back from Moscow, Zhukov planned and executed the Red Army's offensive at the Battle of Stalingrad, using a technique very similar to Khalkhin Gol, in which the Soviet forces held the enemy fixed in the center, built up a mass of force in the area undetected, and launched a pincer attack on the wings to trap the enemy army.

So the Soviets DID actually fight the Japs?! :o

was the battle large enough to warrant the construction of a new army complete with doctrines and troops? :-\

it would be a good thing for a campain though i suppose.

The devs should add Rebels vs. Imperials or Clones vs. Droids.

As a full skirmish/multiplayer army, no. You could put them in the campaign, but i'm not sure how well that would work... :-\

Yes, 100,000 + troops involved(Soviet Army group IIRC @ IwoJima 5 marine divisions ~60,000 men). No I don't think the effort would be worthwhile. A campaign could work if a Sino-Japanese war or Rising Sun mod was available but even The Pacific Thunder Mod would require too many tweaks to make land combat in Asia viable. Also the time scale is too short. It is the same problem as trying to make a Winter War mod.
