Title: how exactly can you bring down American planes as heer?

I've been trying to be able to bring down planes as the heer. As panzer elite, it is easy because of the Wirbelwind Flakpanzer. But how do you do that? Flak 36 is better at killing infantry than aircraft (silly in my opinion), and they don't really have Flak emplacements or Wirbelwind.

Ostwind is the best anti-air there is. The puma is also very effective.

You can't depend on the AA weaponry shooting down aircraft.  Despite the description of the anti-aircraft weaponry, Ostwind, Flak 88, etc is better at shooting down infantry than aircraft.  Unless you built a ton of AA stuff, which is inefficient in a competitive MP game, when the USA Strafing Run / USSR IL-2 Run comes you just have to suck it up and dodge.

I think I will try Ostwinds. For bringing down planes, what else is there? I'll probably try getting a bunch of grenadiers with lassos and get them to get the plane and then they will pull it down like a statue.

Sadly there isn't anythng other thn ostwinds,pumas, and 88 battery. There ws a vid of a mortar bring a plane down ;D. But thats another bizzare story :P. MG's don't fire into the air either.

Ostwinds eat planes for lunch, especially IL-2 runs due to their predictable paths.

really? I've been trying to set up the ami cpu to use strafing run by blobbing infantry with Ostwind. The Ostwind did not do anything. It didn't bother shooting at P47. But it may have been because it was moving, but I'll try having more than one. Shooting down P47=biggest muni waste allied player could have wasted.

And also your biggest problem if it lands on your blob, the explosion it gives of is of V1 proportions :P

When you play as Americans the ostwind suddenly becomes super accurate.
