I want to just say that I just played a couple of games with 1.50.I think the balance team did an awesome job.Really changed it big time.Couple things imo would be camera zooming out farther so i could really see the planes. And extending shooting distance for tanks. Also some of the armored cars look a little to big for me.Just my opinion.Great job once again. One of the best mods for balance made this one fun again.

Thanks ;D. Glad to hear you liked it.
About your points:
- More zoom - Don't know what to say, AFAIK that is not going to be added, although has more chances to get in than explosive dogs.
- Improved Long range combat - This definitely won't happen. CoH doesn't focus on this kind of warfare and will complicate the balance a little more :).
- Army of Giants - As making them small would screw all the CoH universe and would be like an exclusive December 23th of year 2012 for CoH that will never happen. At most the SU76 will decrease it's size later; if you think armoured vehicles are big just wait to see our clowncar :P.

More zoom is pretty easy, if you want more zoom I could always give it a shot
(It shouldn't violate your online play) :P

The topic name is actually quite true though. 1.50 is a very, very good patch. So far I've not found one game breaking bug (like the SU-122 crashing the game last patch. That completely killed the mod for me and my friends last time) and the balance seems quite good actually.
I still have my concerns though, such as the SU-100 still being MIA, and now coupled up with the increased requirements for the IS-2... It's... Problematic, if the PE decides to go for a Panther rush.
That aside, I'm having great fun with the mod now.

thanks paladin88 it works fine awesome kool.

Time and Time again we've told you that the logical counter to Panthers are T34/85s or KV-85s. If you're sitting on heaps of fuel then you can go IS-2. You also have the ISU-152 and the IS-3 at your disposal, along with the SU-85 and/or SU-76 with AP Rounds with support.
There are plenty of AT options, and dig in AT Guns do tremendous damage to Panthers. You have a lot of options and it doesn't look like the SU-100 is coming back. Just get used to it.

You're welcome :P

@Paladin88
Thank you for this "camera". Will try it.

That is a losing fight. I play with the axis player who ranked 1st as terror wehr in CoHO, and believe me, there is no way you can beat a panther spam with T-34s or KV-85s. The ISU-152 and IS-3 are both doctrinal and should never be counted as a set counter for a specific non doctrinal unit. It actually worries me a great deal to see a balancer think of doctrinal units in such a way.
AT guns are very, very easy to flank, and any player with half decent skills will realise how easy it is to do just that. Not to mention that the PE player will have a good amount of pgrens at the point he gets Panthers. Having a little bit of micro will counter those pesky AT guns quite easily.
The SU-100 solved all these problems. It's a fast moving AT gun, which cannot have it's crew killed, and did plenty of damage to the panther, and it was very cost efficient against panther spam.
-
... and it was very cost efficient against panther spam.
Please tell me the number of players, initial resources and type of victory conditions you are using to enable a Panther Spam. I find with the pop cap limitations it is very difficult to get 3 or 4 Panthers on the field. While I'm building up the required resources for a spam, opponents can and do reduce map control to make this nearly impossible.
-
Panther spam is crap. Panthers are easily defeated by the use of AT guns and/or heavy upgraded (cheaper) tanks. To say that the PE play will just have infantry that counter the AT guns is stupid, the Soviet player will also have infantry.
You're arguing that a+b+c+d beats x. In reality it's a contest between a+b+c+d and z+x+y+w. The only way to discount all the support options the players have is to consider the contest in a vacuum, a vs x. Anything else will be countered by an unfalsifiable argument, that player 1 will magically have available a whole set of units that are magically countered by player 2's set of units. Ingame, players only have finite units.
Otto got it right that a Panther spamming player will likely have forsaken his early/midgame in which case you should be able to get map control. If not, he was beating you with inferior forces.

I so wish I had that replay of those two particular matches I have in mind which so brilliantly show how easy it is to win with a panther rush/spam.
The map we played was Angoville, probably high resources when I come to think of it (we both considered conscripts being too puny at the time) & annihilate. Map control was pretty much equal throughout the match, with me sometimes losing out a little bit on the munitions side, as I considered fuel more important. In the end the match was settled when he had his halftracks, pgrens and panthers rolling through the hedges and smashing my forces and forward outpost at the easternmost high (med?) fuel point. My forces consisted of a combination of AT guns, strelky, AT guns, a sniper team with arty, a few T-34-85s and a single IS-2. He at the point had managed to get 4 panthers, two which I had nearly killed before. Looking at the resources at the end he could easily have replenished his panthers should they have perished on the battlefield.
One thing I noticed in particular is that the Panther tends to snipe the AT guns crew instead of actually ever hitting the gun. T-34s get annihilated by both schrecks and panthers. The IS-2 alone stood no chance.
The second match was settled in a similar manner, except the panthers arrived a bit earlier, making my forces even easier to decimate.
There is a big BUT here though - This all happened last patch. With the new upkeep changes thing may have changed drastically. I don't know yet. I will keep on playing and observing if I encounter this as a problem again.
I don't think the SU-100 is making a return, I just wish it would. It was a really, really great tank and made the light tank support upgrade feel so much more useful.
-
Due to all this talk of the SU-100 I wish I had tried it earlier :(. Was it good?

It was a nice piece of equipment but a pain in the ass for balance. You purchased the upgrade and suddenly all your SU-85s were SU-100s with significant firepower boost and cage armor...
-
Sounds awsome ;D. Just kidding :P
-
SU-100 was pretty good. At least against cpus. They (at the time) would build just panzer ivs. but about panther spam, if they're panther spamming, doesn't that mean they have a lot of resources and possibly great map control?
-
Well once you take that into consideration then you've probably lost :P.
I played a PvP game and the guy had like 6 panthers. He was pretty dumb about it and I destroyed all of them ;D. But we still lost since it was a VP game and his team had 2 of them and my team had 1 :(.
-
I remember on Vienna, I was versing the normal heer cpu. It made so many panthers, but they couldn't stand up to my flak 36, and I remember making 20 T-34s. They mowed down everything (this was no popcap, in case you're wondering how I got so many t-34s).
Who wins? IS-3 or TWO panthers?
-
My money is on the IS-3, unless the Panthers manage to use superior speed a lot.
-
Face to face IS-3 wins. But if they circle around, Panthers probably win. I think :P
-
I killed my friend's IS-3 with Luftwaffe Tank hunter planes. That's wery effective. But he didn't move his tank. I spied the is-3 with a Cloacked Ketten. :)
