Title: soviet tank specialities
Post by: mads on November 03, 2011, 05:35:34 PM
Some ideas. :)
Hi. I'd like to see some soviet tank specialties such as high explosive for the js-2 and -3. I thought this would be cool when one of the main reasons why they chose just the 122mm cannon instead of a with better armor penetration, was because it had a much more powerful high explosive round. plus that the other one only where made in small numbers.
The high explosive shell should cost about 75 munitions and work well against infantry open tanks, buildings and bunkers. Big boom.!  ;D

Another thing that would be cool was if the t-34 was able to ram enemy tanks. And in this way either destroying the enemy tanks tracks or engine. if the t-34 do not hit then its veteran level fall. if the it hits it will do harm to the enemy tank and demobilize it, but the t-34 will be lost. Soviet tanks used this tactic to destroy enemy tanks, if they self had no more shots.
The t-34 specialty should not cost anything to use since it costs plenty to lose a tank. This specialty is smart if the enemy plays very offensive with large tanks as Panther, Tiger I and II or elephants. When using the specialty, the tank will have about 30 meters straight track to ram the enemy with. The route the tank drive works a little like a staffing run. So the t-34 can miss like a staffing run can.

Js-2 is all ready very strong, so I thought also that its speed should be lowered a little, since it was almost as slow as a Tiger II. The reload time should be increase a little since the 2 piece ammunition was hard to reload.

IS-3 already has a very large AoE, similar to the Tiger 88mm. It is among the best units in the game vs infantry IMO. Everything else you posted was just silly.

Have to agree with this. IS-3 is ALREADY a good Anti Infantry Tank.

This concept of ramming tanks may be unique but its already been suggested + shot down. Sorry :P

@mads, i agree with fish. if you really want to ram things, you can play as the whermacht, use blizkrieg doctine, and run down infantry.

I seriously doubt this is the case.

First it was never the intention that the t-34 should run down infantry, tanks only.
Check this clip around 3.40

nice...! ;D

Second, yes the is-2 and 3 are already very good infantry killers. And therefore I thought that some of its other strengths such as speed should be lowered and reload time increased and thereby balancing them again.

The is-2 have been discounted if it was too strong compared to for example Panthers. And this is my suggestion how to balance the is-2, lower speed, longer reloading time but in return the possibility to shoot high-explosive shells as a specialty. Should cost 75 Munitions and should only be used once every 2 minutes for example.

if you look at the other factions, you will see that some of them have many different specialties for their vehicles. As far as I know, only ISU-152 and SU-76 has specialties. ISU-152's specialty is very nice and very unique while su-76's specialty is very standard.

Nice video  :P. If you ever watch any of the other military channels' comparisons, you see a lot of US stuff in the top 10 list but the russians always have something at number 1.  :P
