Finally Modern Combat will officially be released to the public on the 13th of march 2012! :D
It's good, because playing vs AI is not fun ^^.

EF will always be my true love but my god is MC balanced! They did a great job here! Ofcourse lots of things need polishing(109 Paladin's refer to themslves as Shermans, lol) but I have never seen an initial release so well-done, complete and bug-free for any mod before. Congrats guys, and thanks.

Thats because they use vCOH sounds and since no one has any new sounds or has any willing voice actors, we are all stuck with this :P. Just like EF's SU faction uses a mix of Russian US faction sounds. And Ostheer will have a mix of German sounds :P.

Did they give up on re-voicing EF? It shouldn't be that hard, unless they want them to speak english with Russian accents. Besides I am sure MC won't leave it at that.

AFAIK Modern Combat is not going to feature new sound speeches for that very reason.

Bishop is right, it is a thought in the future but it is definitely low priority because of the amount of work it takes. It's difficult without a full studio.

Let me know when the site is working as it should again :P. I don't understand how to download it from those 4 options and they are weird (something to due with a thing called WINrar. I'd rather not deal with it)

Just ignore the warnings it gives you, the trial will never run out. I have never paid for WINrar and i've been using it for years.

@Cranial and Fish, there is a free recording studio that one of my rocker friends told me about located in NYC. I have already talked with Lord Wiffleby about making new voices for "1949" and considering the amount of Russians I know (including myself XD) we should be able to create brand new voices for almost any and every unit in "EF" as well (including any attempts to get female units). I can probably get half of Brighton in a studio to make voices :D . By the same point we can create multiple language voices and I have already organized for Japanese voices, Italian, Spanish, French, and many others.
MY suggestion for almost everyone in the forums who lives in a large urban center is to snoop around and try to find a free recording studio. The internet also helps and if you have any musician friends, they probably know of some good studios. SO even if it takes a million voices, it shouldn't be the hardest thing in the world.
I'm probably going to organize the first recording session in early June (Regents week) and I'd actually like to know if you can help me out with the Italian voices Cranial. Fish I could also use your help for making new American voices.

WinRar is for free, if you don't want annoying messages poping up all the time that you have to buy a license. Then just use 7z.

Hi :). I realize this is not a tech support forum but when I loaded MC I got a message saying "There is an error with document 1, 2". Then when I try to play a game it says "Fatal Scar Error. Sync Error". What does this mean ???? How can I fix it ????

About the first error, that means their sever is too busy to check your request :P. Just ignore the message, it means the autoupdater feature is not working.
About the sync error, don't know XD...
As soon as their site returns, that error will go as well.

I would love to play MC but it will not connect to relic onlie and refuses to validate my opposing fronts disk, every other mod will work. Any thoughts? ???

You can play online and offline MC mod, dunno why you cannot play online, if you mean this.

I can play MC now. Its pretty fun but its also confusing at the same time :(. IDK how to use units or what strategies to implement. IDK if there is a MC strategy guide or something but if there is that would be nice :P. Also when you upgrade the Striker with the 105mm AT upgrade, it doesn't fire. I think it might be a bug or something :P.

@Fish: Maybe corrupted files? I had that issues alot when downloading EF, fixed in 3rd downloads :P
My tankdestroyer strykers fire fine in both versions (upgraded and buy-directly).

I find everything bounces off the T3 mobile arty from China. Even an Abrams bounces off a lot against that space armour.

Great looking mod with very good balance even in v1.00 (although its always easier to balance two factions unlike EF). One thing that lets it down in my eyes is that the combat system/dynamics remain the same making it feel too ww2 like (god knows I hate seeing the Chinese AT gun!). I expected at least some differences in some of the ranged weapons and accuracies/lethality/abilities sight range etc...for that higher tech feeling from vCOH (and no, I don't mean the so called 'realism mod' combat system).
The kind of difference in combat you'd have when comparing CoD2 and MW2, if that makes sense.
For some people feeling exactly like vCOH is a great thing where as for me the fact that it feels exactly like that is a bit of a let down.
I hope The Great War mod will pull off a nice changed combat system

No, it has not been released yet, me and maxi have a beta version (i don't play it anymore). TGW devs said that they will try to release it in this year.

Will MC ever release some type of tutorial guide or something to help players ???. Cause honestly Im not sure how to use my units.

Well I've only played against the comp so far. But I just want to know small details. For example rifles work better close range vs Volks. Or 1v1 a Tiger will win vs a Pershing. Things like that. And also the play style is much different :P

For me the playstyle is the same as vanilla, since these two fractions act similar to vanilla races (kind of mix).
Examples for MC:
Milita works only good at close range (with upgrade also at medium range).
Riflemen work at every range.

People should be free to play what they want, when they want and how much time they want.

In somehow they should, since they are primary (nondoctrinal) infantry unit. Remember they are not vanillla riflemen.

I forget the name of the 2nd type of non doctrinal infantry China gets but I assume they work like Grenadiers? (4 man squad, more powerful). think they are regulars or something ???

They are roughly equal to the American Rifle squad. Of course by the time they hit the field the rifles gain 1 vet level by killing Militia.

No, he means that in forum you can find a lot of suggestions, but most of them are crappy. Most of people are talking about balance, but they don't post replays, you know, the theory itself is not the best, you need to prove that you are right or something kind of.
And about trolls, there are maybe two. Devs said that we should ignore them, because for stupidity they cannot ban.

Basically...
Riflemen - Good at all ranges.
SAWs provide a massive boost to DPS against everything, at all ranges. M203s are good against blobbed and garrisoned infantry. AT4s are good vs. light vehicles, or for finishing off heavier ones. They can also be equipped with frag grenades (same as vCoH), smoke grenades (self-explanatory), thermal goggles (increase to sight and detection radii), and laser designators (can be used to mark targets).
Militia - Can beat Riflemen at short range, bad at long range.
Type 81s gives them decent long range damage, at the expense of short range damage. They can be equipped with doctrinal ordnance (incendiary mines, anti-tank mines or booby traps) or Molotov cocktails, and can camouflage with the Asymmetrical Warfare doctrine.
Regulars - Beat Riflemen at long range, mediocre at short range.
The Type 88 upgrade gives them a further boost at long range, and allows them to counter-snipe and pick off other important targets. They also come with frag grenades by default.
It's also worth mentioning that although PLA Engineers are basically vCoH US Engineers in terms of combat performance, US Combat Engineers in the mod are four-man squads that are surprisingly effective at long range, and can hold their own against units like Militia if used properly.

No, it shouldn't. It would be like Tiger comes also early. US doesn't any medium tanks. Of course there are people complaining about that US needs the tank or make Abrams buildable, but they are US fanboys or people who don't know how to play CoH.

IMO there is a rather serious issue with the early game anti-building capabilities (nades are not reliable as anti-building) as well as the US Sniper. It gives a rather decisive advantage to China in the opening/middle game periods. Lategame, US seems slightly more powerful because their doc powers are better.

Regulars are Chinese though? I'm talking specifically about the fact US has to rely on nades to clear buildings because their engies have shotties instead of flamers. This is quite critical.

Can you guys help me? I had to manually install patch 1.010 (for those of you who don't know 1.010 is out :P) because the patch updater wouldn't work and whenever I start MC I get a bunch of numbers like "$720100 No Range" or "$804500 No Range". WHy does this keep happening? Did I install the patch wrong???

It means that the language files haven't been installed properly.
Were you up-to-date with v1.009 before you installed the patch?

Ok, first try reinstalling 1.010.
If that doesn't work, redownload the patch and then reinstall. :)

You just delete the ModernCombat folder and modules in your CoH folder.

Yes. I moved the stuff in the Patch 1.010 folder into my COH folder and moved and replaced a bunch of stuff. But I still get those weird "$725000 No Range" things :(

Ok, sorry about this but I just want to confirm that you actually redownloaded the patch (http://www.mediafire.com/?lfdru54pc055216), you didn't just reinstall it? I can't really tell from your post.
If you did then I'm not sure what else you can do, make a post on our forums (http://blacksandstudio.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=352) and explain your situation, I'm sure DB will be able to help you out. :)

What I'm trying to say is that you should download it a second time. I still can't tell if you did that or not.
The download was probably incomplete or corrupted the first time, meaning that you could reinstall it over and over and over again using the files you currently have and it still wouldn't ever fix the problem.
