I saw it recently mentioned that IronCross squads manning a HMG were most potent when Support vet three was purchased. I have noted that captured crew weapons retain the identity of the capturing squad. Do these crews use their stats to operate the weapon? If I man a ZIS2 with THs what kind of vet do I get?

Thread bump, do weapons recrewed by grenadiers function better than ones recrewed by volks? etc.

It doesn't work like that, the only thing they retain is the original weapon, the HP per entity and the unit type(critical/armour). Veterancy is not the same than the squad that crews it, that's already predefined ;).

Weapons have a health associated with them. Is the crew health specific to the weapon type or just a generic value/crew member for any crewed weapon?
EDIT: So I want to recrew with Stormovie rather than ings or strelky. What is the basis for reinforce cost?

well i would say, if you can, reinforce with the strelky. unless they have changed without my notice, last time i checked sturmovie have a crazy reinforce cost.

I standardly man crew weapons with strelky. More so to preserve the orignal squad. 1 m Ing Squads have the unsettling habit of dieing before they return to base. I will check the reinforce cost for Stormovie but I think it is much lower than v1.5. maybe too low. The reason I like to use Stormovie crews is their better armor class.

Sturmovie is 18MP per man. IDK what crazy price you are referring to.
Basically when a crew remans a weapon, they retain their health and armor. Vet doesn't change that. Th crew manning the weapon doesn't change the weapon vet either. Basically, they're independent.

Do they still receive the CS vet bonus?

AFAIK yes. They still count as a SU unit.

Good. I've been under the impression that vehicles and crewed weapons didn't benefit from the CS bonus.

I think as long as its infantry, it benefits from CS vet.

When you say vehicles, you mean tanks and stuff like that right? Not AT guns mortars etc?

Mortars are infantry. AT guns are vehicles

Wait, so if I have vet 2 support vet upgrade as the Wehrmacht and I use a Knights Cross to man MG does their armor get replaced with elite. Also what happens to sturmmovie ingenery's armor when it. Reaches the vet that changes armor to airborne.

AFAIK all crewed weapons obtain the vet of the squad type that created them. non-Wehr start at scratch vet and Wehr gets class vet that has been researched.

And the starting armor remained unchanged, just add more from Otto's post.

No, each recrew squad has specific vet, so you can say they have their own vet. Of course, this vet is standard and all the weapon crews(either original or replacements) share it. The armour of the guys who capture the weapon is kept as said by @Dann88.
