Title: Close Combat III Cross Of Iron/The Russian Front
Post by: MBJrP36 on April 21, 2012, 08:29:51 AM
I was just leading a charge of 3 Panzer III/Hs and 2 Pz IVs over the open terrian in a futile attempt to put down a pair of KV1As. Lost them all but, they lived long enough to allow me to get in with Pioneers to flame them and pelt them with explosives. And I was thinking that even though this game is 14 years old now it is still more realistic than almost every other game out there, terrain reading and cover scale, penetration tables and veterancy, dynamic replacements and force pool. I love this game ;D. In fact this is the game that caused my interest in miltary history to grow to the fever I have today. Do any of you (Users/Devs) have the same love for this game?

Hell yes

I managed to win the Battle for Berlin as the Germans by Knocking a half dozen T-34s an IS-2 and an IS-3 last week.

Bless you Tankbuster. 8) Of course I am talking about the Close Combat series, since the switchover to 64bit, I have playing the remakes by Matrix They removed the IS-3 but added the KV-85, IS-1 and more versions of the KV-1 and T-34 along with the T-28!

Are these remakes purchased? I only ask because I know that 1) a number of very old games have been released by their devs for free, and B) I know some very old games have been remade for use on newer systems, and been released for free.

They are sold by Matrix games on their website, sometimes they have sales but it is usually 45-35US.
