So I noticed that performance drops drastically after playing no more than one match. No matter how few units are on a map in the 2nd or 3rd game I play the game lags. ToV is fine.
Any idea what's wrong? I saw you did a bit of optimizing, so I guess it could be related to that.

Could be just you, try fiddling with your settings, different maps, are you playing a specific game-modes?

I've been testing the new changes in Annihilate. I've tried 4-5 different maps, both EF and vCoH maps. The lag persists.
I'll tweak my settings later and see if it helps.

Windows 7
All of my drivers are up to date.
I just tried lowering my settings. The lag shows up after about 1 match.
Settings I've tried with:
Max
Various settings lowered such as shadows, anti-aliasing, explosion detail etc. etc.
It was fine before 1.7, and like I said, ToV works just fine.

If you mean, "ultra" then no wonder why it runs like that and I'm sure 1.6 would have ran worse. Use high settings at least in shaders IIRC.
ToV will work always fine because it doesn't have an additional faction like we do so it is a bit pointless to compare(let alone we do not modify anything from the original game); due to we are modding the game we always expect it to require more resources than the original.
Btw, do you use a PC to play or a laptop?

PC.
Laptop is doomed to lag.
To be honest when I write "Max" it's not really everything on Ultra. Some settings, like the most stressing things such as shadows I have a tendency to stick to high as I know they are quite heavy on any system.
The problem though, is that it persists even after lowering settings quite drastically.

As long as you keep the shader setting lower than ULTRA most of the things will be fine.
I'm afraid we can't offer anything else until the updated soviet models are finished. Perhaps defraging your HDD helps.

Lol I just made a 4v4 with some guys, full of explotions, arty barrages, Katyushas, Gow and IL-2 Stikes, All Factions were in the game ( Mixed Axis, Mixed Allies ) and no lag at all. Game seems fine to me.
I think Bish is right, try to shape up your Hard Drive or switch off other programs.

Same with my pc. All patches till 1.61 worked fine, no probs at all. But with 1.7 it is lagging beginning at middle to late game even on a 1:1.

Turn off ultra settings, close programs, etc.

I tried it with the lowest settings possible. The lag still shows up.

Hmm, strange ???. After the patch my fps has improved(slightly) but still no change for the worse, haven't had any crashed either.

The few games I've played have been quite lag free, it may be a problem with something else, do you clean your downloads folder (or your hard drive in any way) often Dot.Shadow?

I made several games against computer. I had no lag at all (1v1, 2v2, 3v3).
Always defrag your harddrive if you install a game. Especially for the EF patch which is 1GB big.

Well I have the lag, but it seem... random, even when against the AI. My settings are mostly medium and none is on ultra.
I'm using a Vaio which has i5 2.4 ghz CPU, geforce with cuda (don't understand what it is :P but it has some shit like shader 5.0 and so on) and 4 gb of ram.
I'm defraging my hard drive now.

They're posted on the previous page. I do not need an upgrade to play CoH.
I generally keep a very clean computer, free of viruses, but I haven't run a defrag after the patch. I guess I'll do that.

You don't have a SSD instead of a HDD one right? Because if you have a SSD you don't need to defrag it IIRC.

No SSD here. I've been thinking about getting one, but they're so expensive!
Anyway, the lag seems to only appear when I play with bots. I had no trouble with lag when I played with Simuz & a bunch of you guys earlier.

I have the SSD, and the EF game is very laggy since the 1.7.x.x update.
But before it was ok (even with the SSD)...
Unfortunatelly not many people have the same issue (or they are not reading / writing it here)

one more thing -
I guess the lagging is not caused as a regular FPS issue... reducing the quality of textutres or graphic details doesnt influence this lagging.
The game starts to lag after few seconds even in a small map (skirmish 1 to 1). There also appears the "Sync error" message when I try to load up the recorded game.
Example: I player Angoville 1 to 1 skirmish. Started lagging in few secs. I finished the game anyway - beated the comp :-) and tried to load upu the record. Unfortunatelly no success. The recored game loads up, but as soon as it starts the msg "Sync error" appears and the units move strange. After a few moves they are just standing not moving. (e.g. no 3rd building etc. and the game ends with no killing the PC oponent)...
can the lag issue be caused by some issue in recording of the game?
(I posted my specs into other topic: playing on notebook Acer Aspire, 6GB, SSD drive, intel core i 7, 3,3GHz... everything run smooth till now, I cant believe the lag might be caused by the low specs...)

In either case, we cannot do anything about the lag because it works fine for some players and it doesn't for others, which means we wouldn't know what it causes it. Does anyone get lag when playing Skirmishes or PvP?

Guys ( developers) what did you do with the last patch really?you must have messed up something!reading these comments i had to write something too...I have the same problem, my brother also and one of my friend,we all have the same problem with the game after the last patch, game is just lagging!We all have different cpus so it just cant be coincidence..

All on Windows 7 - 64bit.

1 PC : AMD Phenom II quad @ 3.5 Ghz , 8gb ram ddr3, Ati Radeon 6850 1GB,
2 PC : AMD Athlon X2 dual @ 2.2 Ghz , 3gb ram ddr2, Ati x1950 Pro 512Mb,
3 Laptop: Intel Dual core @ 1.7 Ghz, 4 gb Ram ddr3, NVIDIA® GeForce® G 210M with 512MB GDDR3,
Settings for game on all pc and laptop are from Medium to low, tried also everything on low.
Everything worked well before the patch 1.7, after the patch it started lagging after playing the game for about 5 min, me and my brother against 2 A.I. skirmish on many maps, I tried also 1on1 skirmish against A.I. on pcs and laptop and lagging started also after 5 min of game, lag is unbearable, I cant play the game anymore cuz its frustrating, it never happened before. Please dont mention defragmenting anymore cuz its nonsense, you something messed up with the last patch, you could just admit it. try to fix it, thanks.

Hi, thx. for the reply. I just mentioned, if the two issues can't be influenced together. That maybe the lagging somehow is corresponding with a non-working recording during the game, and therefore also the "sync error" on the rec. replay screen appears. Couldn't it be possible?
Because reducing details, defragmenting, etc. really don't help - I am persuaded that it is not caused by low PC specs (more of us with the lagging issues actually didn't have old craps but AFAIK a pretty new hi-specs machines - desktops or even hi-tech notebooks).

It seems than playing vs AI makes your games laggy, you should try PvP ;).

You forgot to say please :P.
Seriously. you should at least upload the replay of such game and the log files from that match. Please upload every log inside the LogFiles folder on CoH folder on Documents that belong to the match as well.
But as I said before, I'm not sure how easily would be to "fix" this, because not everyone has the same problem and at every patch a lot of people come and report lag from the new patch.

Jojo will work on this, but as far as he could tell the code doesn't have too many additions since 1.6. So this problem was probably already there for a while but you just recently got it.

I played now a match with my brother against 2 A.I. and there was again lagging,not so extreme like before but there it was but this time only on 1 PC, the 2 PC was fine dont know why , but lag also happens on it on other matches ( I tried also re-downloading patches and reinstalling updates to v.1.71 but nothing helped), we played map Groves palace 2vs2 map, at beginning fps were at 60fps (v sync on) and after 5 min of gameplay they dropped to 20fps and while lagging to 10fps -15fps on 1 PC, but on other were at 20-25fps .
my settings on 1 PC are medium to high something, shader high(not ultra) shadows,effects medium... 2 PC setting are all Low. before the patch 1.7 I played everything on 1 PC on maximum except of shader which was at High and never any glitch or drop in frames. maybe your optimization of game had reverse effect on some pc's that you didnt tested. I know you are doing hard work to get best of this game and there are always bug and glitches that comes with new patches, we are only people and we all make mistakes,but I just want to contribute to this mod. Here is another log files and replay from match that I played 10 min ago with my brother vs AI, it was lagging to much on both computers , 10 FPS when lagging,this time v-sync off. maybe this files help. "LogFiles -map 2-too much lag" dont have replay but its the worst lag that I had ever.check them please.

There's no laggy map in EF, lags only occur if
a) one or more players have settings too high to play online fluently.
b) your computer's performance is below average in general and it thus struggles to run bigger maps such as Kalach.
c) you play with or against one or more Soviet AI players (causing the lag, will be fixed by upcoming patches).
