i was wondering if you guys would ever add a HardcoreMode as a match type, where for that mode damage and range would be changed up to be more realistic while still being ballaced so like clustering a mass of 1 unit will end with more accuracy by mortars and and when its a single squad less acuracy by mortars etc and tanks damage and penetration changes to be realistic too so heavier tanks will 1 shot medium vehicles 1 shot light tanks etc etc.
kinda like in blitz or hardcore mode in MC
just a suggestion that i think would add more emmersive gameplay by having more possibilities.
and with a mod of this calibre that has eventually 6 factions would be great fun

For whatever reason I'm now imagining a realistic churchill bouncing flak 88 rounds all the time. Which sounds hilarious.
Still, I like the idea but I feel at the moment it'd be a LOT of work. Right now I imagine they just want Ostheer out and see what happens from there.
-
I wouldn't mind this idea if it was like player vs cpu. When it comes to cpu u have a lot more wiggle room
-
Fish is right. Realism is more suited to AI play. There are a couple of realism mods, available or in the works. " CoH Realistic modification" is available. "AFRIKA" is in development. I believe theVolksinator has a realism mod available as well.
-
Yeah I really like that idea. More realism. But that requires editing the entire 5 or 6 (Ostheer) factions and their health/damage-output which will take some time to do.
-
yeah i dont imagine anything like this would happen imediatly the dev indeed do have there handfull, but it would be a nice edition to eventually have available to EF :D

Personally i dont like realistic mods or similar stuff, but i dont have anything against it or against ppl who like it.
This is possible to code but am not sure that everyone would support it, but maybe for one game mode ppl could support it since it is only applied to one game mode not to whole game. So anyone can enjoy playing with realistic or normal game modes :).

Seasons Greetings,
How are you doing jojo?
As jojo has suggested this could be coded. The models for each vehicle would have to change. I think realistic and normal modes available in one mod, might not work technically though. At present the combat engine uses an abstract combat mechanic that has a target box for each vehicle with a vaguely defined front and rear. I think you would need to add one or two "Flank" Target areas to the target box. This would change the combat mechanics significantly.

I did not thought anything about models since i dunno anything about them. I was thining about stats and modifiers only for one specific game mode or one operation idk need to think more.

Im pretty sure this can be achieved in EF because it has been done successfully in MC.
In MCmod you have the standard kinds of game modes the same as in vCOH and EF
and in transparency to these you also have realism game modes with an ATC also called Hardcore Victory Points, Hardcore Annihilate.
-
You could also even try removing healthbars or what not, so that you cant tell who is what health.

maybe for hostile units but not friendlies otherwise you'l accidently send in units with full numbers but low HP
-
I really doubt HP bars would have a correct function because everything dies at the first shot.

good point, accuracy is and penetration are the only real key factors in realism modes
-
Ugh no. The arcade like style of CoH is what makes it fun.
-
and keep in mind that if we would add something like a HC mode we would split our community
and this is something we dont want

Or it could attract more people, like those that are into the Blitzkrieg mod may come here.

We don't want people play our mod just because it is similar to BK. Also, we have never aimed for such thing and certainly we would be stepping on N44/BK shoes, which is not intended either.

Honestly I'd like a realistic mod that isn't completely axis biased like BK is, but I see where you're coming from.
Again, it'd just be a lot of work it seems if it was actually going to be a thing.

i just think it would be a brilliant addition to EF that would add much more possibilities, its not like it would be removing anything from the game, just adding more options for different kinds of players

More angry noobs complain about "hardcore" balance?
