How are the two tanks different, and how is the T-34/76 better?

BT-5 had only about 13mm of armor, in comparison to the T-34's 45mm of sloped armor. The BT-5 also only has a 45mm gun, which was less powerful and had less penetration than the T-34's 76mm gun
