Hello, I'm fairly new to Eastern Front, especially version 1.5. Can anyone recommend a 1v1 skirmish map against AI that's good for a newb to learn on? Thank you.
-
Try Angoville, Brest and maybe some maps made by the Eastern Front mappers.Good Luck!
-
Thank you! I'm really pumped to try the Russians.
-
if you want seriously learn everything, go for Acheloosa River. It's 2v3 map, but you can reduce the number of AI.
-
Yea, try Acheloos River, it's good map to trening. But not good to PvsP.
Good luck and have so fun with SU :).

Isn't Achelous River a bad(or smply worse) map to learm on b/c it promotes camping, demo charging bridges, and arty spam?. The main maps are Semois, Langres, and Angoville. Try those :).

well yes, but to learn what new stuff Soivets have I always use this map. It ensures me that I can check and test everything in calm, without rushing and spamming from AI side.

Oh :P. I thought you meant fight not test. I use shceldt to test units since theres no pressure. Just tank traps ;D. Vire river valley is good too :P

Am I supposed to do those things (camping, demo charge bridges) if I am going to try that map for the first time? Thanks.

You don't have to :P. But it gves you prescious time to recover(if you've suffered losses) or build up a force. And keeps the enemy at bay so you can artillery barrage them to the stone age :(

A good map would be Kotelnikovo. That is where I try out new equipment the motherland and the Reich give me to try. Kotelnikovo is a not easy map, but if you can win on Kotelnikovo (badly or not) you can basically play other maps. That is where I tried the KV 1. I honestly got disappointed initially. But I learned that with the KV 1, it's slow, more expensive. But it has great killing power and better armor.

The last map I'd actually play is Angoville. The capture points are somewhat unfairly placed, and thus one side more easily than the other can have its supply lines cut.
-
Angoville is one of the more balanced maps in the game and promotes aggressive gameplay while defensive play at the same time.
Whomever captures the Right Side will eventually be the victor. For most players this means most fighting will be concentrated on that right hand side.
It's also a devil's trap for mines and AT guns, but promotes flanking too. It's only real restriction are it's hedges.
-
And dont go down the main road if you can avoid it :P Its bound to have a mine :P
-
Best map to train on is Prokhorovka. I like to do 1 v 3 as soviets with me being the side on the one, playing against 3 axis cpus ;D
-
i would say, to test new units, just find a map that you can play well on and test. for learning however, i would probably play on semois or some other well balanced map that presents challenge, but not like, "what is this????".
-
"what is this????".
Every players reaction when they first try Beaux Lowland :P

I don't know why but I had only bad experience with that map and that's why I removed it from my 1vs1 automatch map choices.
-
Me, personally, I thought it was a bit too large for a 1v1 and not very well thought out nor balanced properly. I always felt that Flooded Plains was a much better map, it has about the same relative size as Semois, forces players to pay attention to multiple fronts, and has good pockets of negative cover and is fairly well balanced, and needed to replace Bullshit Lowlands.
-
i like the nickname ;)
-
Beaux Lowlands = Bullshit Lowlands ;D. Aren't there other maps like Beaux that used to be 1 vs 1 but got removed ???
