Title: EF 1v1 tournament.
Post by: Spieel on September 23, 2011, 10:04:57 AM
This has been postponed until after the release of the next patch

Hi all.
We will be hosting a 32 player, 1v1 tournament on the weekend of the 21st of October.
This will be mainly for fun so there won't be a cash prize, But the winner
will be awarded this special once off badge on his/her profile  ;D
(http://i56.tinypic.com/afed0j.png)

The format will be a single elimination B.o.3 rounds with the Semi's upwards being B.o.5. Players decide on map rotation during knock out.
In the finals 1st and 2nd game will be langres.
3rd and 4th will be semios
If it needs tie breaker will be ango.

All factions will be allowed.(still undecided about RMC)

Map list will include:
Langres (all rounds)
Semios (all rounds)
ango (all rounds)
Duclair (knockout and quarter finals)
Sturzdorf (knockout and quarter finals)
Egletons (knockout and quarter finals)

The reason this list only includes Vcoh maps is to make it accessible
to new as well as old players to EF.

Sign up in this thread with your relic online name and ranks.

Nice price badge!

But tourney is not clear enough

Quote
Biggest Problems:
1) No seeding - Very bad.  Leads to rape finals and blowouts.
2) No set time - This rarely ever works, in other words expect 50% of the games not to be played.  You need to set a time and have a "check in" system for a tourny this small.  Dont make the brackets until everyone who is going to play is present if possible.  Then make the brackets (only takes 2 minutes) and let everyone start.  If people want to play more games then make it double elim or group stages.
3) Never schedule a tourny during patch time.  Obviously shit can break.

How it could look like

I would wait for the release of the next patch then make the announcment.

Through the seeding. Seed 1 will play seed 32, 2 plays 31 etc. This way, ideally seed 1 and 2 end up in the final for an epic game.

Then again, I have no way of knowing when the next patch will be.
also until people sign up there can be no seeding. But will take this into consideration
and amend the first post to ask people to include their relic online names as well as ranks.
As for the time it's not fully decided on, but will be sorted by Sunday at the latest.
@Fishunter, sorry man if everyone gets a badge it makes the winner's less special ;p

EF should be patched before this 1v1 tourney starts.  Currently, some abusive strategies are still around, that could definitely influence the outcome of very close matches.

These include but are not limited to:
Fucking Tank Riders
Tank Hunter Mosins-Nagants
Early-game 1 CS, 3 Conscripts vs 4 PG matchup
Partisans (not sure about this one, they just seem stronger than vet 3 Grens atm)

Overall, the latest patch is still an enormous improvement from the previous patches, and I think these imbalances were simply overlooked and not intended at all.  However, they need to be fixed before another tourney.

It should be when you announce this tourney. Because it looks like not fully organized then.

I recommend to release this announcment again when patch comes out. We will avoid mistaked done in the past

Thats why i said wait for the next patch. :)

Ok, we can postpone this if everyone feels this way. Although it would have been only for fun, hence the no cash prize. But could someone who knows please send me a pm with the approximate time of the patch release. So that I can re-plan the tourney.

True true, however this would've have been for the more 1v1 minded players. But I have decided after talking it through with Killar to postpone this until after the patch.
So there will still be a chance to add my shiny badge to your profile.
