Title: Tournament FAQ
Post by: Cranialwizard on May 13, 2012, 03:25:31 AM
Here, you may ask questions concerning the Tourney Setup, Rules, methods, all sorts of prettyful things go into this category.

If you have any questions, just shoot!  :)

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How many commanders do you need/have?

Answer: Your team may have up to 3, but should pick at least 1. It depends on what is needed for your faction and how skilled your commander is with organization and strategy during the war.

2. Where should I post which territory my faction is going to attack?

Please post your attack plans in a new topic named like this:

Code: [Select]
Faction name (Player Name(s)) attack(s) #XX [map name]
Example:

Panzer Elite (Simuz) attacks #38 [Ruins of Rouen (2)]

How are we to submit replays for verification for wins? Do we go into our replay folder of company of heroes, pull the file out onto the desktop, and then add an attachment to a post verifying the win? Or could someone show us the proper format to submit victories for verification. Thanks for a prompt notice.

This is the correct procedure. Thank you for asking though. I will add a "How To" to that rule.

EDIT: I hope my edit to the post has clarified the issue.

Given Leningrad's reputation (bridge :P) will we still have to fight over that map or is there an alternative to it ???? I don't mind playing on it but I was just wondering

EDIT: I just saw that many capital maps have 2 maps associated with it. Does this mean you will have to fight on both maps in order to win or can you just choose either or ?

I could make an alternative version with undestructiable bridges if needed.

I could also do that, but I don't think a special "tourney patch" is needed. Either we will chose another map or people will have to live with it.

This is correct. Since these maps are best of 5, You'll play one match on one, one match on the other, so on and so forth.

As for Leningrad, likely, I might make a map change to it for that reason you listed, but I figured that if it was a Capital it should at least have it's own map. Plus it may give some the less experienced players in the tourney a bit of detene or relaxation.

You will know after Round 1. In this round, players will pick their sectors to attack, and then the Allies will pick who defends. From there, your positions are set. You won't be doing much moving around unless you're advancing on the enemy or requesting transfers.

BTW you said one Axis condition of victory was: "Fully Repel the D-Day invasion". Something along those lines. When D-Day kicks off exactly how much territory are they being granted extra or must they fight for every plot of land to take it ????

In the rules, it says this:
Quote
Push back the Allied Invasion of Normandy and hold at least 80% of former (1939) German territory

In this instance, if both D-Day Invasions (Sector 1 and 2, stacked in favor of the attacker) fail, and Germany retains 80% of it's original 36 territories, the tourney can be called into a victory for the Axis. (This is actually realistic, as Stalin had been considering a treaty with Hitler leading up to and even on the days of D-Day.)

If D-Day is successful, players will retain sectors 1 and/or 2.

Will the sublime crew be making shoutcast for the truly epic, pivotal battles of the tournament? Also, since only 5 sectors can be attacked, what about the axis and Soviet players who can't partake in the attack, will their positions be unmarked until they begin fighting?

When you are talking about attack and defending that makes me confused.

You play VP I get that straight ( Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! </3)

But you are talking about attacking player and defending player and yeah.. Does that mean that when the match begin the defedning one will have all the VP checkpoints and its up for the attacking one to take them? Or is it a pure VP match where nobody have the VP points from start and its just like a normal VP match? :S

Edit: And ME myself am the one to decide where to attack and defend? I thought that was the commanders job! Iam just following orders! I cant decide for myself!?

Well you definitely have a say, you shouldn't just be bullied by a faction leader, however if he makes suggestions those should be taken to light.

That's correct. In the beginning, nothing is known to the enemy. But after the first battles, you'll know who's where. It will be shown by the first map update on Sunday.

I don't understand if are the Commanders that will decide the players which will play a match or the players can offer themself to play.

For example:

Option 1:

I'm the Commander and I want attack the sectors X and Y; and I say: "Players 1 and 2 will play this game"

Option2:

I'm the Commander and I want attack the sectors X and Y; and I say "Who wants play the matches for sectors X and Y?"

Not sure if my question is clear  :P :P

You have a reply in your attack, however it would be a conditional victory unless something is worked out.

Title: Re: Tournament FAQ
Post by: Cranialwizard on May 27, 2012, 01:52:17 AM
What's to explain? All games except specially marked ones will be played best of 3. (Excluding this round unless players agree otherwise.)
Title: Re: Tournament FAQ
Post by: Pac-Fish on May 27, 2012, 01:58:10 AM
"All games, unless otherwise specified, will be played best of 3, with 2/3 wins needed to win a territory. In stacked sectors, you will need to win 3/3 (1/3 for D-Day) for victory as an attacker."

Im not sure what a stacked sector is (im assuming its a map with more than 1 map) but it says you must win all 3 games. So what happens if you lose one game ???? And for D-Day winnng 1/3 games seems slightly unfair. This means at any point during the 3 games if the Allies manage to pull off just one win, they get the whole territory (IDK if this applies to Axis too).
Title: Re: Tournament FAQ
Post by: Cranialwizard on May 27, 2012, 04:09:32 AM
Stacked sectors are described in the rules. If you had questions about them you should have asked earlier :P

Stacked sectors are located on the map near capitals and on the D-Day landings. In Stacked sectors, the attackers must win all 3 of the games. This gives the defender the advantage and time to get some more games in.

The only exception to Stacked Games is the position 1 and 2, where the Defenders must win all 3 of their games in each of those sectors to repel the invasion, meaning allied attackers only have to win 1/3 of the games.

It's completely fair. If you beat back D-Day you win the game.

TBH it's a little confusing reading the rules. It's a very long list with no bolded words or anything distinct so you're never sure if what you're looking for is there or not.

Just make sure you re-read the last 5. If you're familiar on the basics of the tourney they shouldn't be hard to comprehend IMHO because I talk to several people and they say it's long but down to the point overall.

Depends what team you're on I suppose, or who your commanders are. Normally, you need to get an OK from your commanding officer before deploying.
