Bugs & Tech Support / Map ang gameplay bug since last patches
« on: December 20, 2013, 09:50:24 AM »
Hi everybody,

I have a problem since several month with the mod. If I remember correctly since the last two patches (but because of a lack of time I didn't mention it since September): when I launch a game, my deployment zone on the minimap is black, and there are no icons about objectives or others on the map.
More annoying is the fact that I can't play at all because when I want to produces units from my HQ, they are loading, but the production stay at zero. And when I already have units on the ground, I simply can't even select them.

So I was unable to play Eastern Front for a long time.
I played yesterday with the original game without having any problem.

Thanks a lot if you can help me!
(PS: give us penal units back! :p and sorry for eventual grammatical mistakes)

That is what I thought, It was really funny and weird x)

But I also established that when my tank elephant is at the edge of the screen, it suddenly becomes invisible for me, but the blue circle is always here when the unit is selected, I can give orders and ennemies still shoot him; And if I draw near him it becomes apparent again.
So just a little graphic bug I guess ^^

Hi everybody!

I just had another bug a few days ago, but I'm not sure if it is a bug or related to the game physics. When a tank, especially the elephant, and the t-34 or panzer IV (I don't really remember) is hit by a rocket or there is an explosion nearby, it litterally jumps vertically, like in a "cartoon", I also had the same issue when driving above protection holes (for the ostheer).

Excuse my english I had a long day and I'm tired so I barely pay attention to my grammatical mistakes... Greets from France ^^

Red Army Suggestions / Re: Soviet Paratroops

Excuse me if I was unclear ^^

I didn't say there was a problem, on the contrary! I just said that russia was one of the first to explore the use of paratroopers as a "doctrine", but that after failed operations at the beginning of Operation Barbarossa (Kiev, Odessa in 1941/42...) the Stavka decided not to use them as they were supposed to be, but most as classic infantry units (especially guards), except in some operations (on the Dniepr in 1943, and it was a disaster). But I guess they were used for small scale missions, as every army does :-)

So they have the right to be there of course! But if we talk about history, I think they didn't had a major part in the war :-)

Red Army Suggestions / Re: Soviet Paratroops

Hi everybody!

From my knowledge (I am very interested in military history), there is a paradox with soviet paratroopers: before the war, the Soviet Union was a visionnary in this field: in the early 30's, Soviet marshals (I don't remember the names I'll look for it later) had seen the tactical potential of such units; So before the war, there were complete divisions of well trained russian paratroopers, a long time before Germany, UK, France or the US interested in this. The paradox is that during the great debacle at the beginning of the "operation barbarossa", after some failed attempts to create bridgeheads behind ennemy lines, and after whole units were slaugthered by german panzers after being surrounded right after landing; the Soviet military commanders decided not to use these units anymore.
(even if sometimes, soviet paratroopers had some success in small scale mission, on a tactical level, furthermore this is accordant with the worldwide paratroopers history).

So including russians paratroopers would be sort of historically incorrect, but beyond this, I agree with this unit being a reward for players willing to play with them. And more, I think it will be a beautiful homage to the soviet military genius.

Hi everybody!

First, thank you again for your amazing work on this mod.

I spotted two bugs in the USSR faction: I had a problem with the anti-infantry artillery: my engineers build the fortified area, but the weapon itself is invisible. Then, I don't remember which unit it happened with, but when the weapon servant died, the picture of the unit (in the UI) was pink.

Then, since the last patch, I often encounter difficulties to create a game (skirmish mode), I have a message saying that it was impossible to create a game.
Maybe it is a problem with my computer?

Have a nice day everybody!

Hi everbody, I'm new on this forum, first I'd like to thank the modders for their wonderful work! Then excuse me for eventual grammatical mistakes, I'm French.

However since the last patch introducing the OstHeer and modifications to the Red Army, i'd like to suggest some modifications that seem logic to me:

-the new penal units system is weird: why would brave conscripts/recruits units be suddenly changed in an unit composed of desertors, and condemned soldiers? The former way to recruit them was much more correct, in adequation with the soviet strategy: they were "sent" to the front. And having a kommisar to command them and strelkys acting as a blocking unit preventing from desertion was great! So I wonder if you could reintroduce the former penal units; recruitable in a building or as a capacity. To my mind it would be much more correct.

-Modifications brought to partisans are great! But as their description shows: they are guerilla units. So I wonder if they shouldn't; because they fight "behind ennemy lines" and in order to rebalance their lacks in close combat, have a camo system, the same as sharpshooters, allowing them to move discretly to their target.

One more time: thanks to the whole team for this great mod! And have a nice day!
