Floki, after I read your goodbye drama post for an instant I thought that you were the founder of this mod, head promoter or something but wait- you have just 31 posts lol. It's good that you have realized at the end that this mod doesn't depend on you or someone else in particular. So fairwell
Well, It isn't drama. I wanted the people who applied to be candidates to be able to find who they need to talk to, for the next step. I am not a founder, never claimed to be. I gave all the work I was doing over to Hendrik, He has it, and can do with it what he wishes. I lurked far more than I post. I don't even know who you are, I don't even think I had ever spoken to you on the team. So I don't think you can have a lot to say about me personally, I can choose to walk away from a project if I want to. I don't think this kind of criticism is needed, and I really don't need to be mocked for my choice. People quit projects all the time, and while I do regret quitting so sudden, I wanted to dedicate the month of February to other areas of my life. I am sorry you took it so personally Riggsman, but please do not make something out of nothing.

floki you seem to have disappeared from my friends list on steam, maybe its me as my internet has a fault at the minute engineer coming monday.
So I can help clear up any confusion, I am retiring from my position within the mod. It's nothing personal with the Mod Team or Any of the Applicants. I have exerted enormous amounts of time with it, and I have two other projects, I am working on. I am working on a Radio Drama with a colleague, that I am currently trying to pitch to http://nepr.net/ and it comes with a lot of responsibility (Directing, Writing, Casting, Sound Editing, etc...) and I am working on an Indie JRPG (Web Development HTML 5, Coding in C#) with a couple of other colleagues. So out of the three I choose to let go of Eastern Front as I didn't think it was the one that fit with my personal self-interest. I also have a full-time job and a family with children, that need attention as well... so time is of value. As I have now tried my best to remove my presence from the "Social Media" portions of the mod, to regain a little sense of privacy. For awhile, I was getting a higher amount of friend requests on Facebook and Steam because of people wanting to know more about the mod. I think the mod will be released fine, when it does, these guys are doing a bang up job at releasing something that will give the original game a few more points worth of value. Sadly, I don't think it's something I can continue to invest my time in, however I wish I could. All future, EF questions should be forwarded to Hendrik 'DarcReaver' S. He is the head of balancing for the Eastern Front mod development team. He has a list of everyone who applied. http://www.easternfront.org/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=230http://steamcommunity.com/id/darcreaver- Good Luck Everyone. Floki.

Maybe to make it easier/faster process we should consider the option of using replays. So the candidates can give us a PvP replay where they play vs equally skilled opponent.
I have a response to that, but I won't post it here in Public. However, I have a very good reason, on the way I am doing it.

Hi Ben, my name is Floki I handle events on Saturdays, and media relations for the mod. I try to host a "EF meet up" every Saturday. Play Time Events will tried to be scheduled between 2 pm - 6 pm (NA)Eastern Standard time, 6 pm - 8 pm Central European time. If you join our steam group, you will see many of the other people who play EF, and I always post announcement when I see a game going. The biggest issue facing EF isn't the number of players... oh we got the players... it's just they have no way of contacting each other, and the second issue is A LOT of players do not enjoy PvP. I really do believe that with the release of the Steam version this will really disappear as an issue. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CoHEasternFrontIf you add me on Steam, I can either play a few rounds with you, or introduce you to other players. Cheers!

Insert the trenches ! The game looks poor, needs more extras like Blitzkrieg.Streamline game but not too much.
This has been brought up before, and I can understand why, considering that Blitzkrieg is an impressive mod. However Eastern Front isn't trying to be that "kind of" mod. Blitzkrieg is based around realistic warfare similar to the men of war series. It also contains many of the units the Ostheer already use to a certain to degree. You also must consider not everyone enjoys the hyper realism of BK. So while we may gain a few players, we would also be alienating our original fan base. However, if you enjoy the kind of trench warfare you speak of...may I recommend The Great War 1918 mod? http://store.steampowered.com/app/314420/I hate to give attention to other CoH mods, but on the other hand they are, our "brother in mods."

I am pretty sure that you would be better off joining our Steam Group or organising a few games in the forums and play with us. You'll quickly pick up a few tricks that way .
that would be great! I've played vCOH with a couple of my lads back in the old country but they stopped COH for a while. Cool! Let me find you on steam if that's the case. What do I search for?
Also: I'm having trouble with the reinforcing my troops from the Outpost. How come it doesn't work? I also checked back that the Outpost is garrisonable? Am I encountering a sort of bug with reinforcing or I'm totally missing something altogether?
Hi! and welcome to the community, http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CoHEasternFrontIs the link to the Steam Group, from there you can add other players. I am the community event manager, I run events on Saturday starting at 5 pm UTC/GMT if you are in Europe! 12 am EST/NAEST if you are in the United States. I usually try to also connect players with others or run announcements for them. As of lately, it's been kinda all quiet on the eastern front in regards to players joining. However, I suspect that player counts will rise in the future with some of the plans we have coming down the pipe.

Next time, don't spoil the outcome of the game . That said, keep the replays coming!
I don't usually post a lot of the replays because they rarely are interesting like this one. I still hold to the belief that the British could be reworked quite easily, and I usually try to play the way I imagine they could be played. The only difference is I envision their infantry veterancy be tied to their command trees (a 3rd branch in each tree). But alas my radical ideas will never be seen lol.

This was a fun match I played with an opponent on Psel
Ostheer position is North-West, British position is South-East.
I try not to use typical strategies in Company of Heroes, and my typical British play style is to avoid too many emplacements and avoid blobing with LT's and Cpt's. Most of the time I lose for obvious reasons, but in this match up I won, barely. However I thought it was worth saving the replay because it's very all over the place in regards to who will win in the end.
Cheers.
*Note* This isn't a balance critical replay, but more of a "funky" replay.

We only have our community Manager Bishop who already is responsible for technical Support issues, which also covers a large field. I myself am not that good at writing articles/Setting up cool screenshots, that's why I don't post News entries. I wanted to create a shoutcast about the EF changes for the next Version, but I don't have something to Show yet.
I have zero issues writing articles and setting up cool screenshots, for news entries If I was allowed to. I use to be a Reporter IRL before I became an Accountant. I could write something interesting, if you guys wanted me to...

I spent quite a long time talking to Darc Reaver and ChaosVal3 on my suggestion, it's merits and it's failures. While they saw some Pro's, that also agreed, it had some Con's. If, I understood them correctly the idea behind Ostheer is that the Assault Pool and Support pool are ment to operate like sub-doctrines. That once you choose one or the other, you aren't ment to be toggling back and forth between the two, unless you absolutely must.
While, I disagree with this design choice because I "personally" don't believe any RTS faction should operate in my words "rigidly", I accept that this faction is what it is. My only concern is that it may end up like the Brits, because the Brits are a very rigid faction. I also have some Oil deficiency concerns, however as I understand the next patch, It seems Oil choices will not be such a major issue in the future.
With that said!, I still think the Veterancy system for Ostheer could be made concise and transparent, more aligned with this idea of sub-doctrination. I think the first step, if it is going to stick with this current design is to improve the wording for the tooltips. I have unofficially semi-volunteered to write up a re-wording of things so they read more intuitively. I plan to work on this with ChaosVal3 on the weekends, as I work full-time during the week.
I think having the veteran system operate like it currently does provides for too much convolution. I have a proposal idea, that perhaps instead of being able to choose all 6, have four of the 6 choices be linked to the assault or support pools. OR, and this reminds me of age of mythology... Have your Doctrine choice be linked to which two choices of veteranancy you receive.
Doctrine 1. Vet Inf type A & B Vet Vec type A & B
Doctrine 2. Vet Inf type B & C Vet Vec type B & C
Doctrine 3.
Vet Inf type C & A Vet Vec type C & A

So I love Eastern Fronts, I love how the Soviets work and their design. I love the idea behind the Ostheer but, I think they are very awkward to use. I like how they have this duality of support and offense, where one must shift between the two pools, however... their veteran is based around three choices. I also notice that later two upgrades mention Modernization. However one is an ability unlock upgrade while the other is a tier upgrade. Then you have the Support Unit research which is actually a tier upgrade. On top of that, you have Serialized Tank Production that changes based on Doctrine choice. So Confusing. I suggest first off, switching the naming of Support Modernization and Support Unit Research. Just switch them, it's a small change that doesn't harm anything but makes the upgrades more obvious on what they do. So then players associate the whole Modernization wording with a tier upgrade. So then Support Mondernization and Panzer Mondernization are tier upgrades, and Support Unit Research is an ability unlock upgrade. ok, now for a big leap. Why not just make a 3rd pool called Mobilization that allows you unlock the same units as the Support Unit Research and Panzer Modernization currently does? It would unlock after building the 3rd tier or 4th tier buildings and allows players to build vehicles and tanks. It would also allow veterancy to happen based on which pool is currently being used. Then you can just make Support Unit Research and Panzer Modernization more about lowering switch costs between pools and also upkeep.

Hi
I am a huge fan of Company of Heroes, and I think it's a shame that since CoH2 came out, the competitive community has more or less died. So I was wondering since Eastern Front will released on Steam hopefully before the end of the year perhaps some of the bug fixes and balance changes involved in the Elite Mod could be added into Eastern Front. I know a lot of Expert players liked some of the changes, and I've seen some of the old streamers saying they would be interested in playing an Elite mod tournament. In my honest opinion it seems like a wise decision to just fuse the two mods.
I also think having both mods fuse would help retain players, CoH (steam version) has a lot of players still, around 2000 daily, 3000 on the weekends. If these players knew their was basically a free expansion out there they might be interested to join in and bring some new feeling back into the game. As a veteran CoH player I wish I had given this Mod a try a long time ago, because I played a 2v2 tonight and I felt like I was playing the game again for the first time. I also think the Soviet faction is a far better introduction than the Americans to Company of Heroes. Kudos on that development.
Age of Empires 2 is an RTS that is kinda experienced a Renaissance for a little bit because it's community still holds on, granted it's split between HD, Voobly and Gameranger. However they just had a $250,000 tournament with around 2000 viewers on Twitch plus front page. That's not bad for a 14 year old game in a dying genre of games (RTS.)
anyways at the very least I think the devs should consider reaching out to the small Elite mod team. It wouldn't hurt would it? also with a fusion of the elite mod and EF mod, with the way Greenlight + Steam works, updates to "games" get featured on the front of steam. It wouldn't hurt to have a series of fresh balance patches that keep the EF mod in the "Recently Updated Major Product Updates" section.
This is a link to the discussion on Elite Mod, just in case anyone doesn't know what I am talking about. h.ttp://w.ww.coh2.org/topic/10886/elite-mod-coh--download-and-changelog
