Rivets will shear off when hit causing them to become additional projectiles inside the tank.

Could be, I typed in Soviet T-34 welds, or something like that and this is one of the pictures that came up. I can say at least the T-34 was welded and not riveted, like Italian tanks

The T-34 was probably the crapiest tank ever made, as shown in the picture below the welds were just awful some tankers even reported being able to stick their fingers out of the tank from inside through the welded areas. One report from Michael Wittmann's crew said that they had been rammed by a T-34 instanly blowing the engine and transmission on the soviet tank and not even leaving more than a scratch on his Tiger. idk how anyone could say they love this pos.
