I hear you Zerst.

And to be honest the primary reasons I had for posting this were A) the annoying issue of not knowing how many men are left in a Conscript squad [especially given how easily they're killed] and B) making Conscripts a more worthwhile squad to use for a Soviet player, hence the better rifle/full rifles at spawn.

I totally understand and appreciate the idea behind giving them 0 pop, half rifles, high numbers, and terrible skill. But I think in the interest of gameplay, addressing the pop cap/+ rifles issue would make them more worthwhile.

First off, don't need to say it again, but EF rocks. So thanks to the team, keep up the good work and great support/patches.


Now I know a gripe I and some other people have is not knowing the number of members in a Conscript squad (always shows 0/0, even with NKVD upgrade). I know this is an issue with them having ZERO pop cost. So the solution...

Axis fanboys already complain about Soviet early game zerging with Conscripts. I say give them a pop cost of ONE, but upgrade their rifles to the Moisin2 currently carried by Ingenery (and to balance I hear Ingenery will be getting Conscript Moisin with next patch).
Actually that's one of the things that makes Soviets a bit stronger than they should in the opening stages...which is why those Ingenery boyz are getting the conscript mosin next patch  ;D


This solves multiple issues:
1. Conscripts will have squad numbers
2. Axis fanboys appeased for early-game "balance" sake
3. Conscripts become less useless, with better rifles
4. Ingenery will be used as a support/construction unit, rather than primary fighting unit (as many soviet players bypass Conscripts altogether)

To further balance Conscripts if the ONE pop cost scares people off from using them, you can either:
- Give all 8 members rifles from start
- Add no additional pop cost for NKVD (ie. leave at ONE pop cost after upgrade)

Problem with the t34/76 is that it cant hit ANYTHING even at point blank range.

And this is why the T-34 is not OP. All in all it is well rounded: terrible against infantry but good for handling Pumas and Halftracks, can go toe-to-toe with P4 (but will usually lose unless supported), and can be easily countered with Paks, StuGs, or shreks. It does what it was designed to, be good in numbers.

Memory make/model/speed: 3.2 GB
Video card make/model/speed: GeForce 9800 GTX+ (500Mb)
(Nvidia Driver 178.24)
Operating System version and 32bit/64bit: Windows XP 32bit

Information:
What were you doing when the crash occurred? 3v3 Comp Stomp, Stalingrad, early game.
Do the crashes happen during every game? The last two games, straight freeze, had to cold boot
Does it seem to affect certain maps/game modes/# of players: Don't know
Have you applied or looked into any relevant fixes available on the forum: No


I've had the freeze up issue the last 2 games, could not even ctrl+alt+delete and had to cold boot. Both were comp stomp games with friends, playing as Soviets.

The 2 games before when I tried to host, was frozen at the very end of loading screen. The last mm of loading bar would blink while friends were in game. Had to ctrl+alt+del out of CoH.

Please help. Game is great, thanks!

That's not what this mod is about. If you want to fight the Allies so bad with Soviets, go play a Cold War game.

The only reasonable option for this feature would be an "easter egg" mission in the campaign, whenever that comes along.

Only 1 crash today, at the end of 4v4 Berlin. Game had finished, was reviewing stats, I hit 'Main Menu' on the stats screen and had to hard-boot from freeze.

Otherwise all good!

As far as I'm aware the Soviets were only released speaking Russian.

Here's hoping for an option in the future for Russian-accented English (like the other factions). I'd love to know what the hell they're saying!

Sweet Apex. You guys are awesome and outstanding work so far. The mod is freakin' great!

On the patch front, I had a question/suggestion. Currently I don't get a squad number for my Ingenery or Conscript Squads (Ingenery always shows 1/1 and Conscripts is 0/0). This makes it a little difficult to tell how many men I have left and when is best to pull them back, especially when they're hunkered down in cover or something.

All the other squads show accurate numbers, just seems to be for these two squad types. Is this an easy fix and if so, anything on the horizon?
